Switching sessions isnt an issue its keeping everyone together that we are talking about.

And adding temp crew or friends is not a solution either.

What if its closed enrollment?? Is everyone supposed to keep one crew slot open just for the posse aspect??

And temp friends is stupid too, my list is full and I doubt im the only one. So this would require sorting thru my list every time to boot someone to make room.

A temp grouping system is a fantastic solution and I fail to see any downsides.

So many times ive seen awesome groups of people split up for whatever the reason or circumstance, a posse or something like it is sorely needed in this game.

No sh*t Sherlock!

Obviously you sometimes have to switch sessions to join friends after being seperated.

Public education is a failure......

Yes it is, thank you so much for your input. BTW, there are only 3 dots in an ellipsis. I assume you've been thru the public education system as well.

I just want to be able to not target crew members...

turn it down in the settings. Its in the select menu under friend attack priority.

@ninjaontour
I prestiged twice in Rdr....there's no difference between posse or crew, people simply refuse to use the current tools. Gta v is built on RDR engine.

Uh, how exactly do you prestige in RDR. That's not possible, and there is a huge difference between posse and crew. Friend attack priority is only for FRIENDS. Sometimes you meet cool people in a session, but don't want to add them into your crew or friends list. A posse will show you who's friendly and who's not, and it will keep your real friends together thru different games without splitting up.

Honestly i can't see how anyone thinks this is a bad idea.. other than the "RDR style" aspect jokes.

Switching session doesn't take that long. No realy all that big a problem to wait 30 seconds.

Lolno. 30 seconds? Not sure what planet you're from or what extra terrestrial internet service you have, but it takes quite a few minutes when switching sessions, often accompanied by a "Timed out when loading session" or "The session you're trying to join is full" message, even when there's only 6 people in the game. It's quite a nuisance. Posses would eliminate this problem.

I'd like to be in a posse for two reasons:

- It's cool to hang around like-minded individuals with a common goal. Posses allow that without pressuring me to join a crew or feel isolated.

- I kinda like the temporary gang attitude. Crews versus posses would be an interesting sight to see. If anything, this could encourage folks to actually give a hoot about crew notieriey and position on the leader board.

Posses and Crews aren't the same. I play with a group of friends, in RDR we posse up and if the posse leader leaves the posse follows to whatever game, match or freeroam he goes too. In GTA5 we are all in the same crew however we will all end up in different lobbies when we go to free roam. Posses should have been there from the start.

.

You prestige in Red Dead Redemption by completing every online task twice surpassing level 50 (starting over from zero a second time) where you become a legend....I think I've played more Red Dead Redemption than you have (kinda makes your earlier remark moot)....you didn't even know you could prestige. http://reddead.wikia.com/wiki/Legend

Is it too hard to add a person or 16 for that matter and then remove them after you're done playing? A posse color will not show you what a person's intent is. Again citing RDR, you could be nice one second and rivals the next. But it's clearly easier to write in the code you want rather than using any other options already coded in the game.....It'll only take a few months for them to add it while you could use the friend and crew options currently to get you're desired results...but f*ckit...a few button presses versus hours of coding...who gives a sh*t right?

Yah genius and the point of the posse is that all posse members automatically go into the same session. They dont get separated.

Why would anyone in their right mind be against that??

Whats wrong with your brain?

It also stops auto targeting friendly players that aren't on your friends list. Can't you still auto aim on crew members too?

^^ yes another good point. Theres no setting still to put your crew members as a low attack priority like you can with friends.

dude, i haven't played RDR in years. Its possible i prestiged and didnt even know it. I reached rank 50 on multiple accounts. You don't know how much I've played the game, and it certainly doesn't make anything other than the prestige comment moot. I apologize that i was wrong. i blame this on not playing in YEARS and having a lot of blockage due to real life. Anyways, you wouldn't add people who are obviously not on the same track as you into your posse, and if they are trying to kill you, you could boot them from the posse. Simple.

Yeah, hours of coding for a feature obviously desired by 80% of the community. wow, that would be so terrible. R* has much more important things to work on .. like heists right.

Your logic: Let us, the consumers, do the work.. instead of the actual game designers attempting to make gameplay more enjoyable. What if my friends list is full? I should delete a real friend to add someone temporarily? Nah.

^ To add onto that, a posse system would make free roam friendlier, that is a fact.

I'm coming up with this from 4 years of RDR experience (or about 25 days online)

You start a free roam game, randomly invite a bunch of people to your posse or request to join someone else's. Not one person in that posse will kill you unless you guys are just messing around. It makes organizing free roam activities easier (teleporting to posse leader upon joining (okay, some people will use this to get away from a boring gun fight, woo hoo)). You don't know how long it took for me to organize a 10 and 9 person parachute jump and Titan formation.

Isn't one of Rockstar's goals to make players play cooperatively? Yes, so this makes sense.

Okay, you got me there. But Google says that a posse is a *group of people who have a common characteristic, occupation, or purpose.* If that would not make it friendlier, I don't know what would. I shouldn't have even said that as it was obvious that it would make free roam friendlier, and so people like you wouldn't have to point my post out, contributing nothing to the topic. If anything, you should have replied saying obvious post is obvious.

Edit: Oh, just noticed. You joined in 2006 so you're some old GTA elitist that knows better.

This is true, but what i think minifat is trying to say is, well, let me put it like this:

Have you ever played in a session, with two of your friends that didn't know each other, and/or from different crews and before you can even send a message typing out not to kill so&so, they're already going to war?

This would prevent that. You invite both your friends to your posse once they join, they see their friend wants them to join a posse, both your friends accept your posse invite, and seeing they will automatically see each other and assume they are friendly. This will decrease the number of friends going to war with each other and you know that once they go at war once, they're always real distrust-worthy of each other.. friendly fire accidents afterwards would only make it worse

Of course, anything can happen on the game due to trolls and stuff. no method is fool proof, but i do agree that i think free roam would be much friendlier in a way. Posses will still fight and individuals/lone soldiers will still fight, but not necessarily so inside the posse.

crews are meant to work that way are they not? i know they dont but they are meant to ie staying with crew mates or friends after jobs and being put right into their servers if they are online

It works in invite only sessions, these guys want to take over an open session essentially holding open slots with crew members taking priority over open slots. This is probably going to be possible on next gen with 30 player online, but currently it can't possibly work in an open session because any open slot (someone temporarily leaves the session for a job) is given to the next random person. Rockstar seems to have stream lined the process of getting into an online game whether it's solo/invite only or open sessions. People want options that are either in the game in a different form, or control over the session which can't happen the way the game is designed (the time and weather are universal over all sessions so certain sacrifices had to be made).

On new gen systems i see no reason why wildlife wouldn't be online. I hope there are more aggressive animals.
