Let's not forget the recent next gen announcement. Players request Dukes and Dodo. R☆ responds by placing them behind a $60 paywall ($460 technically if you don't own a next gen console)

Everything they do is for money. It's not a conspirocy. It's the truth.

I get free updates for an online game so I don't give a sh*t.

The busy and lazy pay for me and I appreciate that.

Updates are always free. Nobody charges for a patch and a privacy-preventor cut contents included.

Say your thanks when there's a free DLC that is as worthy as TBOGT and TLAD.

Those weren't free.

Well they dont get the $400-$500 dollars from the console sells but i get your point.

Put two of the most requested vehicles in as a current-gen exclusive so you buy the game again.

It's like most of you completely forget that GTAO is an MMO. Just like Runescape,WoW,ESO etc.

Why are some things so expensive and jobs don't pay a super high amount? Because could you imagine how goddamn boring any of the MMO's I mentioned earlier, would be if you could get all the best stuff in a week and have 100 million dollars quickly? Its not some conspiracy to push shark cards, shark cards are for people who don't get to play often and for them it would take incredibly long to buy certain things so sharkcards is what they use. It also helps keeps GTAO DLC free.

That's completely part of the problem.

Why play a game for weeks trying to earn enough money to buy a certain car, when someone else plays an hour every two weeks and is better off than you?

Why not just everyone throw $100 at Online to have everything in-game?

Because it's ridiculous buying a virtual helicopter that's worth 1/3rd the price of GTA V. Imagine story mode in it's entirety and how much it costed to develop.

A single virtual helicopter is not worth 1/3rd of all the work R* put into single player. Whoever was on the developing team at the time should feel insulted.

And no not even $100 covers the cost of everything in-game I've heard it's more like $300, probably more like $500 by now.

And people wonder why others choose to glitch.

I wish Shark Cards wasn't as pricey, Think about it if Shark Card was a little less than they are more people would buy them think I get paid every week but I wouldn't splash out $99 for 8,000,000 but if it was 10 an less for others 1,000,000 for like $2.00 I would buy every week to be honest make the game a lot more interesting because doing missions takes up too much time and all the time and effort we stick in goes on one car maybe, Big missions you get let's say $30,000 but to e honest I think we should get $50,000 or more depending on time, Just too much, To be honest R* are robbing us and their laughing to be honest, It's okay to glitch at this stage they rob is why not do the same, Their a disgrace to be honestly and should be ashamed robbing their fans like that when we spend money and countless hours trying to earn money in the game, to me that's shocking, I gonna glitch if another one comes out cause to be honest F**K SHARK CARDS .. ROBBING C**NTS.

Problem with paid DLC for online games: If you do not have it, you will NOT be able to play online. For example, Halo games. If you happen to not have the $10 each DLC you wont be able to play in most of the Matchmaking lobbies. Therefore you WILL be pretty much forced to buy the DLC if you actually want to play online.

Between the lines in the official R* announcement. Although it's not for pre orders but for people moving from last gen to latest gen.

"A host of new, exclusive content also awaits for players returning from the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions including rare versions of classic vehicles to collect from across the Grand Theft Auto series such as the Dukes, the Dodo Seaplane and a faster, more maneuverable Blimp; activities including wildlife photography and new shooting range challenges, new weapons and more."

Note that it says "rare versions of". If ordinary versions of these vehicels weren't coming to the game, then they wouldn't have included the words "rare versions of".

True.

If it's cheaper. And what I mean cheaper means cheap. Not 99 USD for in-game $8mil, but 20 USD for in-game $8mil, pretty sure people are gonna love Cash Card and will buy them.

Why not sell it at cheaper price and get a lot of sales, rather than sell it at higher price and get less sales and even get hated?

Because that's not the cash card target demo.

They're supposed to be for people with not a lot of time but plenty of disposable income.

Despite what others might say, R* actually want most people to play the game to get cash instead of buying it.

Now do you understand why many, many people glitch instead?

Not that I'm condoning it or anything.

If they really wanted to make money off cash cards, the prices would be even higher... Right now there is really no need for them (except you want everything and you want it now) It's true, some things are damn expensive (okay, many things are) but some things are also kinda cheap (repair a fully broken car for 334$? yea, alright. Learjet for 1M$? Try that irl) dunno, it's just the attitude of todays players that they don't want to spend much time to unlock items

Some players glitch because it's the path of least resistance. They will always ALWAYS find the easiest and quickest way to make money, legitimate or not.

If cash cards didn't exist and missions paid out double what they do right now, those people would still glitch given the chance.

I don't feel like a player that has had to buy a cash card is better off than me. It means they either have little time to play, or they enjoy playing the game so little that they would rather spend a lot of real money for a small amount of in-game money rather than play the game to get it.

I havn't ever glitched. I havn't even ever farmed for hours on end. I'm still sitting on $22million with everythign I currently want. I don't know anyone who has glitched, and I don't know anyone who is too poor to enjoy the game.

If some people buy cash cards, even if they buy so many that they have billions of dollars, that doesn't bother me, because that can't buy them enjoyment or progression. It just means they pay for my content updates.

To keep the servers up and running costs also a lot of $$$. Rather than to cash once at game release, in game purchases keep on giving dough. Nobody is complaining about Farmville, the Smufs game or Candy Crush. Everybody is happy that World of Warcraft costs $10 subscription each month.

I have read somewhere that R* made 218 million real $ in shark card sales alone. Of course R* is very aggressive to patch money glitches. R* is very sluggish to fix glitches that cost me money:

- Once I lost a fully modded Chradder in slot 1. It was destroyed and I could not recover it from MMI. That was 1,5 million gta$.

- I lost the Gusenberg Sweeper. I got the gun back for free but I had to pay for the extended ammo clip.

- I lost the bull pup rifle two times and had to buy it again.

- My avatar would turn bald all the time. I had to go to the barber shop to get a new haircut every session.

- I lost in 1.16 all custom licence plates in my secondary garage. In 1.17 it was finally fixed, but I had to rebuy all custom plates.

Shark cards are a choice. If you do not waste time and ammo in the everlasting death match called open lobby free roam, there is no need to buy Shark Cards. I do some missions, some survivals and sell some gangsta Peyote's just for fun. Rather that than to have to pay each month.

Free roam morons who complain that they are broke, are like this guy:

Somehow, them saying there will be "exclusive content" for "players returning from the playstation 3 and Xbox 360 versions" makes me think that it will not be on the PS3 or 360. Something about the words "returning from" are the cause of my suspicion.

Literally noone has said buying shark cards isn't a choice.

Nothing the OP or anyone else has said in this thread has actually debunked shark card conspiracy. Which is what this this topic is about.

If anything you're all basically agreeing that this isn't a conspiracy and R* is purposely pushing them on us by changing multiple aspects of the game, against our best interests, but we do have a choice in the end.

I agree with that.

And you fundamentally agree with shark card conspiracy.

It's not a conspiracy, kid. It's fact. Why do you think R* is releasing only a little bit of content every now and then over the course of the last year?? It's to keep the flow of shark card sales going.

DLC/Microtransactions/Shark Cards..... however you want to look at it... all those things have ruined GTA V.

Actually, everything you wrote is not fact. It's opinion. GTAV is not ruined. It's exactly the game that was released. Your perspective is what has been ruined. Or, more precisely, jaded.

I do, however, miss those days where a game cartridge contained all the game data. There was no internet. There were no add-ons. You bought a game, played it to death, and the developer released a new version. That's a fact.

Cheers! :)

You know what would have debunked CCC...... Heist with very high payouts.

I think that rockstar initially wanted to create a gta that would be interesting and fun to play for 1-2 years. so that guys with too much time could play gta hours a day and still enjoy it and for ppl who have litlle time there are cc so that they also could enjoy gta:o without waiting for a half year to buy that adder. dont forget there are a lot of ppl in gta fanbase that are well over 20 with jobs/wives/kids(read:very little time).

i mean if you mission payouts were very high and there was little need for money wouldn't the game get boring quick for the ppl with too much time? i have spend maybe 300hours to get what i got now in the game and it was fun playing for it. and only since a month or so i don't find the need of playing it anymore because know that ive got all the things i wanted i realize how boring this game is right now.

People should be mad at rockstar for their lack of communication not for their CC. r* needs to explain why the heist aren't there yet and why it is delayed for so long. i therefore expect a mind blowing update when it releases on ps4/x1. otherwise i would still demand an explanation from r*.

Meh, nothing was really debunk. You just proved that Rockstar IS pushing shark cards. I laugh at people who call Rockstar EA and in fact they're nothing close to them ( not yet ).

If you happen to not have the $10 each DLC you wont be able to play in most of the Matchmaking lobbies. Therefore you WILL be pretty much forced to buy the DLC if you actually want to play online.

Have you ever heard of 'free compatibility DLC content'. Lots of games do it. Anyone that doesnt have the DLC gets a free combatibility patch that lets them play with others that have the DLC, but not use the DLC.

Also, Plz dont ever compare GTA to Galo(halo). This is why GTA is turning into the abomination it is today.

it really isnt that big of a deal, cant remember what game it is but my mate bought a dlc that isnt even there yet just to play the game

if you dont want to buy cash cards then dont, most people wont want to and grind out missions instead, but that is boring as fcuk, im only at lvl70 done most missions already and now bored to carry on, ive gone back to SP

cash cards should be cheaper, (at around £1 to $500k uk currency) and for those saying R* are being greedy, well not really, theyre a business, the more income a business has, the more it can grow and bring to the consumer better products and services

if you want better games, but your hands in your pockets :-)

Because when releasing a new product (especially in this case, GTA related), you start by targeting the wealthier demographic.

Once you soak up some premium priced shark card sales, and the trend is on the decline, you lower the price to get everyone else buying.

Imagine a road running between two places.

It has two lanes in each direction, is twisty, has several sets of traffic lights, and a speed limit of 40mph.

People complain that it takes too long to get from one place to the other, so the road operators open a second road. It is much straighter, has no traffic lights, three lanes in each direction, and a speed limit of 70mph. But, drivers have to pay a toll every time they use it.

Not enough people pay that toll, so the road operators install extra traffic lights on the original road, cut the speed limit to 30mph, and most of the time one of the two lanes each way is closed, only being opened on special 'double capacity weekends'.

That's cash card logic.

People really need to stop blaming Rockstar for this cash card thing.

Rockstar is the DEVELOPER, who is funded by the PUBLISHER, Take-Two Interactive.

Cash card money (and all other revenue) goes to the PUBLISHER, who then doles out money to Rockstar in the form of the development budget which includes wages for Rockstar developers.

If Take-Two tells Rockstar to jump, Rockstar has to ask "how high?". In this context, if Take-Two wants to monetize the game as much as possible it's Rockstar's JOB to do it, because Take-Two pays the bills and calls the shots.

Rockstar, and all other DEVELOPERS, want to make great games. They are on the creative side. Development studios are owned (or hired) by publishers to create games. When it's finished the publisher takes the game, manufacturers it, markets it, and distributes it. The exception is a company like Ubisoft who develops AND publishes its own games under the same roof, so to speak.

The PUBLISHER collects the money.
