Do people use lagswitches in gta online?

...to get cheap kills in PvP?

I figure people are more likely to be honest on the boards.

I come across a lot of iffy situations and the game can be so laggy in TDM it's hard to make definite claims against specific players who seem to be using them.

I believe I have met a couple. Sometimes it is my connection, but other times I have heard others passing comments on 'laggy players' in a lobby.

You have to seriously reach an all-time low to use a friggin' lag switch on GTA.

Your forgetting well over 80% of players on GTAO namely the ones who sit in TDM 24/7 are Call of Duty Rejects, most likely the same ones who lag switch on Call of Duty.

Wow, this might actually have happened to me today.... I ran over a guy with a bounty. He was behind my car, survived the hit and was about to get up, but instead he just dissappeared and suddenly he was in front of my car giving it to me with the auto shotgun.

I'm in a TDM crew and were one of the top active homegrown crews. I myself have around 2500 deathmatches under my belt at the time, so I have more than enough expirience to know when something doesn't feel right.
But I'm seeing this more when I play against players from other top competitive crews. Especially when it's a crew head to head TDM. They'll always wanna use AR only and I'm assuming it's because it's easiest to get lag-kills. Not everyone does this but I am pretty sure a few crews are doing this crap.
I'm pretty good with run and gun, headshots, corner popping, using the cover to my advantage and other TDM tactics. So I ussually do very well. Not saying this to brag but moreso so you know I'm not just some kid who sucks and is making excuses as to why I'd die.

But I'm seeing this stuff a lot, essp with the so called good competitive players... If your a supposed competitive TDM player there is no reason at all why ur internet should be that bad I see lag.
- riddle them with tons of bullets and won't die then all of a sudden you just die with no logical reasoning. And no it's not some immaculate headshot
- shoot through walls and cover
- sit in army cover, u die and never see Action, then while your in the death cam (black and white screen) you literally see them pop out of cover and shoot the bullet you died from.
- sometimes u even see their blips literally dragging across the map (obvious lag, could be natrual)
- sometimes they literally appear out of thin air. In a Crew v crew last night I was shooting out with a guy who was about 20 ft away in distance and out of thin air a guy appeared 5 ft in front of me and kills me. (no he did not spawn, just magically appeared out of nowhere when i died)
- typically as a whole u don't see the action. No bullets fly at you, you just die. I played this game enough I know I should see bullets.

Now I always see kids using lagswitches to do minor glitches in the game like SP2MP car glitches, don't really care about that. But as popular as that is it makes me aware ALOT of people have these lagswitches and are using them for more than just harmless car glitching.

I've done a handful of TDMs and I've seen everything you just stated. The reason why I only play with friends.

Send me pm with the name of the crew. I'm not here to expose people but I'll tell you if I know them. I'm on Xbox btw so if it's PS3 I won't know them. I know at least 5 of the top competitive TDM crews who have players doing this crap.

Also for my TDM players who aren't aware, pay attention to what I wrote in that long post those are all typical lagswitch traits they use. I'm not a real gamer gtao is my first online game so I was naive to this behavior until about a month ago.

The way GTA meshes connections between players, a lag switch would not do much but harm the user.

with that being noted, yes i believe it can backfire...

i played in a random match with a guy from a top crew the other day... he lagged everywhere and only when it was time to come in for a kill the lag became apparent...long story short i beat the piss out of his laggy ass like 11-5 because he was overusing it, had some of my friends spectating him to verify what he was doing... he lagged just enough to get a few points ahead (mainly killing my teammates) and all of a sudden he was no longer laggy.

How many people do you think have lag switches?

I've heard of 'em but never seen one and none of my PSN friends have one or know much about them.

not sure but i know there are enough of them to have 1000000 lagswitch glitching tutorials...

this stuff seems to be big in COD, but considering GTAO is very small on the competitive tdm scale it would be very easy to abuse.

Squeakers use this to cheat. Minigunned a squeaker & he didn't die. I got baseball batted to death -_-

He did die though due to the police

hate to believe it but on more than one occasion per session I wonder do they. Sometimes the lag they claim they are experiencing is too conveniently timed for my liking. How pathetic do you have to be like. Sad.

This is common, no lag switch just different animations on your screen and his. As u said u ran him over and he survived, thats a prime example of it happening, as for lag switches in TDM's I have encountered some shady stuff in my time in battles as im sure most deathmatch players have, keep in mind though if there is a full lobby playing a deathmatch then there always is SOME lag at least and im sure most regular TDM players would agree

i do agree... there is def some natural lag...essp in a full lobby with traffic on (shotgun wedding for example will go super-lag). the machine just can't perform... hopefully the new gen game will improve this stuff...

randoms with sh*t internet and people across the globe, brazil and mexico tend to have natural lag...

What u said about peppering people with bullets only for them to appear next to and kill u iv had that too, lots of times actually, plus weird stuff with people in cover and another strange thing, killing people only for them to fall down and appear dead and motionless, then they either spring back up and kill me or stay dead for like a whole 30 seconds ! Messed up

I don't think many people use a lag switch maybe 1 out of 1000.

But once I played against a guy in a TDM who was nearly impossible to kill when he was 10 feet away, because he lagged heavily.

When he was 100 feet away it was very easy to kill him. There were no lags.

^yep. 1 in 1000 equates to the try hard 24/7 TDM players though :(

lol i see that too, where u kill them and they pop back up and u die... i think thats a natural lag thing... same with the guys who take 10 seconds to die after you kill them... i learned to stop locking and move on...

I imagine so. There have been many moments where I've been in close quarters with people who are killing me, and suddenly a huge lag spike comes out of nowhere and a few seconds later he rolls and kills me.

If only Rockstar implemented dedicated servers...

You know you're going to get screwed by lag when you shoot someone down and they're body just lies there motionless without your kill showing up in the feed.

I usually just find a new session if I see someone sliding around like they're a part of a stop motion animation.

Yes, especially in Assissted Aim or Traditional Aim deathmatches, people do abuse lag switches. They also do this in Tennis believe it or not, people have sunked that low.

Nope, cause my Purple Infernus wasn't hurting anyone.

Your gaming experience will improve if you played the game rather than worrying about lag switches.

Play. Stop trying to make claims.
