Uh... just a quick heads up, guys, my router has just died. As in, lights out, no output. O_O Unplugged it, am gonna have a fiddle and see what happens. In general I'm a bit concerned because even if it starts working all right it could go again, and I don't want that in a meet.

So... yeah. Gonna see what happens in the next couple of hours. :/

Aaaaaaaaaaaand we had to cut this short as it was getting scarily late (it went on SO much longer than I meant it to, very sorry about that) so we didn't get to do a few things, but I'll talk about that later.

SO. Got off to a delayed start as I'm an absolute sh*t and put the wrong times on here for those who aren't in the UK so for that I'm extremely sorry, however it did mean we had 45 minutes to an hour of playing around and generally having a really good laugh. One of the things that carried across from the last meet to this one is the incredibly relaxed feel of it all; there were no awkward silences, lots of laughter and a general instant 'click' between all of the people in the session. Loved it. You're all such awesome people and I'm so glad to have had those in the session that I had.

The meet started at LS airport, where two rival airlines went head to head in getting to Grapeseed airstrip without killing all of their passengers; unfortunately Dogg Airlines had a malfunction in that their pilot was raving drunk and ended up blowing them all into very fine pieces. Lots of fire. Screaming children. Barely conscious farmers glancing up from their pitchfork. You get the picture. Once we'd recovered from that, we instantly got dragged into a gang attack and then ended up blowing more stuff up, killing each other 'accidentally' and moaning endlessly about the lack of Snapmatic - y'know, the usual. Nothing new to report there.

I'd like to award 'Best Dressed Redneck' to Yello Cactus for a fantastic outfit which I've hopefully got a picture of somewhere... and also would like to award him 'Sanchez Most Likely To Bang' for his awesome crew logo. Well done! :D

So, we got down to the nitty gritty and started the meet out with a race through the gutters of Grapeseed - so many crashes, so much carnage, infinite laughter. Really enjoyed seeing everyone going for it and especially the humour gleaned from it all, can't get enough of people enjoying themselves! Once all of the insanity of that was over we headed up Chiliad and partook in a challenge I like to call Scream If You Want To Die Faster! Similar to the three-step jumping challenge from the first meet, we did jumps, 360's and flips off of a wonderful little ridge which culminated in some brilliant falls, graphic deaths and a fair few awe-inspiring landings which gave us all enough hope to carry on! As usual, this was great fun and, again, was cool to see everyone enjoying themselves and really going for it.

Next up was a few technical challenges up Chiliad which, I'll admit, I absolutely loved doing. It was nice to be able to actually say 'yup, this is a real challenge' and to mean it. Everyone really gave it their all and tried as many times as it took to get up those near-vertical ridges and it was so awesome when they made it to the top... oh, how ardently my little Sanchez-fuelled heart was on fire with love for that amazing little vehicle! Say what you want, that thing climbs better than any other vehicle in this game and I WON'T HEAR OTHERWISE. SANCHEZ & PH03NIX 4EVA.

You guys kicked ass. Seriously.

Naturally there were a lot of piteous moans as people lost their Sanchez to the height of the mountain, lots of running and jumping and lifts down to the bottom to get a new vehicle (or to impossible parts of Chiliad to retrieve it from behind a rock) and you could practically hear the horror and frustration in the air as it began to rain just as we started out the most challenging climb of all... but we all made it. We got there, we got to the top and then we did the Phoenix-classic: THROW YO'SELF OFF THE MOUNTAIN AND PARACHUTE TO A WAYPOINT. (Some really, really big laughs at this point when people forgot to activate their parachute or clipped their bike - me - and ended up falling to a messy death.) Eventually we made it down (we'd lost a fair few participants by then as it was late for a lot of the British crowd) but we partook in a race that I'd put together for the meet and that seemed to go down pretty well so HUZZAH!

Then we all figured, yeah, it's late, let's cut it short.

Here's what we didn't do:

  • Gordo
  • Bombing around the beach
  • Back up Chiliad!
  • A Last Team Standing event at the top of Chiliad whereupon you'd have to remain on your Sanchez whilst using weapons :D

But hey, maybe another time.

Regardless, it was so much fun and I felt much more comfortable and confident as a host this time around which meant I could enjoy myself so much more. I have nothing whatsoever to complain about (other than my damned habit of muting myself and forgetting, so I simply end up talking to myself and not realising -_-) and I think I had a pretty amazing lobby of people who were all patient, willing and such a laugh to off-road with!

Anyhoo, enough rambling - onto the pictures (after about an hour and a half of not being able to take any!):

Planning this meet included to a lot of bloodshed. A lot.

Me with my lover partner in crime, the lovely Tash:

Untitled.png

Such a beautiful bunch. The people were cool too.

image.png

All patiently waiting their turn to leap to their death...

image.png

I took so many photos of people leaping that I just decided to include my favourite. :D

image.png

THOSE ASSES, THOUGH

image.png

This group definitely didn't lack any attitude, that's for sure.

image.png

Phoenix should have learned by now that taking a selfie is never something you can do in private.

image.png

Chillin' for a few minutes!

image.png

Vapizt kicking some butt!

image.png

More chillin'.

image.png

Tackling a near-horizonal rock-face in the dark and the rain was NOT an easy task, but everyone gave it a damned good go...

image.png

...and they succeeded!

image.png

HELL yeah.

image.png

Thank you so much, everyone, for coming - I had a blast! :D

Had a great time while I was there. Sorry I had to leave to go pick up the misses. Nice to meet all of the sanchez lovers. Also saw some familiar faces. First off I have to say sorry for everyone that went on Steve's airlines and got destroyed but the millennium falcon was full. At least all of my passengers arrived safely however I can not not say the same for phoenix who kinda got in the way(damn short ass run way.). In honor of our fearless host I had to dishonor my mentor Steve (sorry man) by setting not 1, but 2 different Sandkings on fire (would have been 3 but our fearless host kinda destroyed one before I could do the deed). It was a glorious affair still all the same what with using fireworks to ignite the fuel. Then came the race. Some how I ended up being in the first round draft going against steve and... yea I forget who sorry. Anyways. It was a fun race I got out to a very early lead until I found my self missing a big turn and ended up in the cornfield. Some how I managed to get back on course and made my way to the turn around point. I ended up eating a pillar whilst turning around. Then made my way back all to see steve coming my way. I thought to myself should I be nice and let him pass or should I play a bit of chicken. I went with chicken and ended up eating sanchez rubber. I managed to get back on my bike all to have to end up almost in the lake. managed to correct my course back and finally made it to the finish. Talk about a challenge. From there we tried to go up a mountain. By try I mean it took me 3 attempts to make it up because I some how managed to get taken out every time before the last lol. From there we went off to a ramp which was great place to learn how to stunt on the sanchez. My first attempt to just land was looking well until I managed to skip off the mountain a few times and end up smashing into a bridge which made my sanchez disappear under the map. Next was the 360 jump. I managed to do a 180 before my testicals came up through my stomach and into my mount. After that was the back flip. I managed to to some what land this trick just to have my bike swept out from under me and ended up skidding on the ground for 15 yards( got some great road rash), but at least I survived to tell the tale. After this point I pretty much had to get off to go get the misses. Seems like I missed out on some great fun to be had. Awesome job phoenix. Can not wait for the next one. You have shown me what a little bike can do when you put your mind to it. However I still am going to honor my mentor in his meets with it. Can not wait to show him what I have planned for tomorrow.

Had alot of fun at this one, great people who don't take it too serious but still keep it orderly.

Can't wait until everyone gets next-gen so we can do these in first person, that'll be a hoot.

It was a good laugh last night. I liked the race at the finish and the parachuting is always a welcome addtion especially when I was getting shot at !!
The highlight and what made me laugh the most was watching various people lose control and both their bike and body slide (or catapult) down the mountain taking other bikes and riders with them.
I was on my bike close to someone else waiting to go up a hill when they literally just fell of their bike while it was stationary. It was hilarious just watching them slide all the way down. :)

Snapmatic was a bit poo last night so I only took a handful of photos.

can i firstly say. Great meet last night phoenix. Don't stress over the start time issue its always complicated and hanging around the the airport was a good laugh.

steve dogg airlines took its maiden flight and also it last i stand by the fact that telegraph poles should not be near a runway :)

Ive got lots of good shots on the PVR of the fun and frolocks at the grapeseed hanger, this is what a meet should be like ! fun, even when we are waiting to get started everyone was having a great time !

the gutter race was genius i love it when people find things like this to do, new and fun. I must apologize to George :) im sorry i though it was an imposter in the race, i took a quick glance at the name tag and i'm sure it said falling george, i thought imposter ! bang hit him with a quick one two, and then realized it did in fact say failing george my mistake won't happen again, and i will add myself to ticks warned list !

ps i have got some great video of the gutter race :) (which will be edited and added this year some time;)

next up was the jumps ! high and hard ! some great landings and some not so great, loved watching this from a distance and just seeing the bike bounce from a mile away

the climbs were tough and the sanchez loves to slide ! i would hop off for a picture and then turn around to find my bike down the hill :) and those climbs were tough to the extreme a little more modding for me next time

the host was great, kept order, and laughed her whole way though the meet very infectious and this just added to the fun. Can't wait for the next one and look forward to co-hosting next week.
