Michael. Franklin and Trevor are both great but make better secondary characters. as others have said, the story is about Michael. Rockstar even advertised the game as playing as someone who beat a GTA game.

I really don't see what Michael has to offer in terms of an interesting or exciting story expansion for a protagonist. He had his mansion from the start, he's even more richer than ever and he now has a stable family to look after. He'd have no real need or desire to rob banks or jewelry stores for money anymore. He had no known ties to organized crime or gangs that could see him get dragged back into dealings or conflict with the criminal underworld.

Unless you want more of that family guy/The Sims/retirement simulator stuff and you are a big fan of it, I see no reason to continue playing on as Michael in a story expansion as main character.

but...but...tennis and yoga...

But that`s exactly the reason why he is an intersting protag, because he is diferent than any other and he has a diferent background than we were use to in other series.

I was sick of those "heartbreaking" backgrounds when some poor boy from ghetto needed to walk 1000 steps to the end where he is runing bitch-ass raper`s mansion and managing his ass. Or when a mafia thug arrives in VC and takes over whole town in 2 months.

This is for once diferent, the guy is rich from the begining and i like it. Because many retired bank robbers are rich. And i love the scenario when he is forced to rob again because he destroys Madrazo`s house. It`s a far more inteligent writing than ones of a ghetto boy who starts to work for a government and ends up as a raper`s manager.

I would easily choose Franklin. His character is weak because he was an afterthought in GTA V. With his own story, he would be the most fun and interesting IMO. I know some people think it would be just like SA, but Carl Johnson was very different, because of his family ties to gang life, and his relationship with law enforcement. Franklin had gang ties, but not to the same degree as CJ, and his law enforcement connection came from Michael.

I actually would've loved to see Franklin as a solo protagonist and Michael as his mentor, but with none of the law enforcement stuff. Michael's family drama could still be there, but in the background since he would only be a side character. R* could've fully fleshed out Franklin's transition from gang banger to successful criminal, eventually planning his own heists and working directly with Lester and his own handpicked crew.

I think Michael is interesting, but it's all in his past. If GTA V was only about his family drama and midlife crisis, I would legitimately hate the game. A Trevor-only GTA V might be interesting on some level, but R* would need to heavily modify his personality and motivations. Franklin is the only one who makes sense for a solo GTA story IMO.

I just don't see what you see, sorry man. Playing as criminal in GTA that's already living a wealthy, rich and luxury lifestyle leaves me with little incentive to commit crimes for money, and I will not really feel much rewarded, and I'd have a lack of a drive or urge do to it either. In GTA, these are the kind of things I need to provide a lot of impetus to the thrill and excitement of my experience in playing the game. I'm not into that 'family guy' retirement simulator, and leisurely life scenario, it's not what interests me in GTA. I don''t really play GTA just to screw around and have fun being mindlessly destructive, and chaotic - I play GTA to engage in episodes of strategic violence that will reap me great rewards and give me that feeling of accomplishment. Michael at the end of V cannot really provide that for me as a protagonist.

I'd keep Trevor. Franklin is just too boring (whenever I switch to him, he's always in his bloody house) and Michael becomes one of those rich douches after he gets credited with Meltdown. Besides, I never really liked snitches...

Can we keep two and drop one? If so, I'd keep Michael and Trevor and drop Franklin. I honestly believe we could've had a much more in-depth and structured story with just those two at the helm of the game. What about more missions in NY with maybe even a final showdown taking place there where you choose which one to put down? Some of the more better written dialogue were between M & T- in fact, some of the best in the series- and you could really feel the tension during some of the scenes involving them. So the conflict between the two could've included much more missions such as the memorable Max Payne 3-esque NY graveyard mission.

But if I was forced to pick one, I'd go with Michael. I'm a huge fan of The Sopranos, and Michael was unquestionably inspired by Tony Soprano. Maybe Jimmy could've been a little less the stereotypical middle class kid, and could end up getting involved with some undesirables on a more grander and serious scale. That would open up so many opportunities for plot twists and turns.

Franklin on the other hand: the only angle that would work for him as a solo protagonist would be the route of that generic gangbanger crap, and we already had all that in San Andreas and, to some extent, TBoGT, so I don't really want to see that stuff as the focused theme of a GTA again any time soon.

I respect your coment even if i disagree with some of it, just as matter of personal taste that is.

But i know what you are trying to say, that was the thing that bothered many gamers as well.

I agree on this family part, doing missions for his anoying, spoiled, dumb and ungrateful family was a nightmare for me too.

If they would cut off this family bullsh*t off and concentrate on bussines only it would`ve been even better.

However i liked the reason for which M was forced back into the bussines (trashing Madrazo`s house). Still more creative than kill half of the city because your brother need medical threatment for his asthma (VCS)

A little offtopic but i was thinkink today while i did all 3 possible endings on V again just too see what kind of phone calls you get after and how people react.

When i killed Michael (i deleted that progress later) and Franklin called Trevor before this in the hopes he will be happy to killing Michael and even help him, Trevor sounded pissed of; "i`m surrounded by f*cking judas in my life". He wasn`t happy about killing M even if they hated eachother. If there would be someone who would kill Michael it would be Trevor himself, alone and nobody else.

But when you choose an option to kill Trevor Michael is kind of happy and he helps Franklin.

What does that tell us? No matter what kind of maniac, cannibal, psychopat etc etc Trevor is he still has his good sides. He is the least prone to backstabing and betraying among all 3 of them. Sure he is a maniac who kills for fun but he would never betrayed someone close to him. This may sounds dumb but i think Trevor is actually the only one who knows the true meaning of real friendship.

If we put aside that most of his friends are also his slaves of course.

But still, he isn`t a complete monster with absolutely no human characteristics like some people think.

I still prefer Michael of course. I think Michael and Trevor are interesting protags while Franklin is just some generic copy of CJ. A better copy of CJ but still just a copy- uninteresting as a character and so is his gangbanging OGF background which we had enough in SA already without they bring it to us again. R* should make a DLC where you could choose one of these 3 you want to continoue a story- some sort of sequel. And that way every fan would be satisfied. But that probably wont`t happen.

More precisely Trevor knows what it feels like to be betrayed by someone close to him. The other two don't, not to that extent.

Franklin is undoubtedly the character who could benefit from more story time and development, but Michael is more the classic GTA protagonist personality wise.

None of them really have much likelihood of returning to a life of crime after the big one though. Unless extra content takes place before the end, the best option I think is to have Michaels family held to ransom by Don Percival, much in the way John Marston is manipulated in RDR. If option C is taken as cannon, there are various ways Franklin and Trevor can be brought into it from there.

Keep Johnny, dump Franklin and Trevor

Crack smoking and pan handling mini games..oh yeah. Impossible mission objective like 'make this bag last for more than a day' and 'regain your dinity'. If you save the game, time advances by three weeks and sometimes you don't wake up because you choked on your own vomit. It will be like a survival horror game!

69 FULL missions with michael only,

Please help me out here, What else exactly would he be doing that's so exciting or interesting, when he's not doing heists ?? He lives in a mansion already, he got a family, he's already got a nice car, please tell me what else can do for the gameplay ?

for the storyline, there were so many unused plot: Madrazo is the first that comes in my mind, it could have been a whole sub-plot or main plot with many missions, with trevor or franklin as his buddy/enemy like lance in vice city...plus the Richard Majestic films was a moment of redemption for michael, but was heavily underused;

speaking of movies, for mission numbers, they could have increased the assets/movie missions, since there are just 4 mission for solomon, and the 4th one is "meltdown", just barely tied with movie production...the interglobal films in VC had 4 missions, so why not increasing it a bit?;

for gameplay, R* could have found a way to have the same minigames and even more (maybe something more elaborate that "go get my beer".. a fully developped business structure like VCS...and it's not out-of-character, since Michael at the end of the game HAS some not-so-legal business around town )

* Madrazo ? Just no. That guy's actions could not inspire an inch fear or respect if his life depended on it.

* Vinewood Movie Studios missions were quite boring.

* Assets missions should have been much better, much more, and longer from day one.

They could open up the Casino who Michael would be the obvious choice as an owner and he can deal with various people trying to muscle their way in on his business. During the storyline they could even firebomb his house which will cause him to have to move his family out of Los Santos for the time being and go to war with these elements. That would make good DLC.

Michael wouldnt have a reason to even have his own story... Wouldnt work welll.

Doesnt sound interesting or fun and DEFINITELY doesnt seem like something that should be the entire concept of a gta game.

Trevor could work, with him persuing meth dealing and guns trade... Exept it probably wouldnt have a begining or end.

And franklins story would be the typical rags to riches story. Nothing wrong with that... It works...

He would probably have more in depth activities and character development...

I choose franklin

i kind of like michael but i don't think he would be good having a full game, because he already has everything from the beginning.

i can see michael having his own game only if the game is simply a DLC like TLAD or TBOGT. after all, luis also already had most things at the beginning, and he was fine for a DLC.

trevor can still go f*ck himself. he has everything from the beginning AND is a sh*tty character

Michael. He was my favorite character, so that's who I'd want to play as.

Franklin though, like most have said would be the best of the 3 to have his own game.

Hopefully the Next Grand Theft Auto has only one character. a character that is fully developed and fleshed out that we know what to expect of that certain character in different situations.

Michael would definitely be gone. I wouldn't even think twice. Not that I don't like him, but he is definitely the least used of the three. I would have a tougher time deciding between Franklin and Trevor but when it comes down to it I think I would choose to keep Trevor. There's just something about his psychotic behavior that makes it fun doing absolutely anything while playing as him. I would love to see a full story about his development of TPE and the adventures across Blaine County that would come from that "business". I've said that R* made a mistake when they didn't allow his businesses to all be TPE-related.

Oh ok, I thought you we're asking Rockstar to only have one protag next game judging by the title. Phew.

Anyway, I'd keep Michael, he has potential for a story never seen before in game.

Michael. I play as him mostly, he has kids which is a first for a GTA protagonist, his story is pretty interesting, the sarcasm he has can be funny most of the time, and I like the clothes (suits) because they are sort of casual with the lack of ties, and the haircut options. One thing I don't like is the way he walks, sure he's old but I've seen ppl in their 70 who can walk straight head up.
