Micheal is a good character but I've always seen him as more of a mission giver then a decent character. And Trevors off the wall behavior makes him less a character I'd enjoy playing with all the time, it would be too much like playing a Psychotic killer all the time. Franklin I think has a interesting take on life in the game and I wish he was more fleshed out, thats why I would chose him over the others. Besides, if F was the only protag, he would probably shine much more. T and M can be pretty solid side characters. The army? Trevor made the fame, he was the force that kept the sorry moving for me, a lot of story arcs only begin as result of him, also Michael, but Trwvor was powder Keg that sets off the game, as soon as you play Mr.Phillips, the whole tone of the game is set. Michael and Trevor are side characters that are constantly bickering in the end. The game works fine with all 3, it's what makes the game special. Sure he's kind of rich, so we would miss the rags to riches kind of story, but he has a serious problems with his family and that puts him into serious sh*t (pulling house down, which started whole spiral of trouble). Franklin is totally redundant as after first couple of missions he's off the screen eating chips and ironing clothes (that's gangsta life). I also find his attitude and voice extremely annoying (pretty much like CJ), dawg here, dawg there, etc. And Trevor is the worst and most inconsistent character ever featured in GTA. Not because he's supposed to be a psycotik epic brutal badazzzz, more rough and ready characters in general, and his impulsive nature was appealing. Michael was good, more consistent than Trevor, but his family ties put me off, and Franklin reeked of CJ throwback. I was hoping for a bit more depth on that front.
