fuel in next gen?

New first-person cockpit views for vehicles, with fully re-modeled interiors, including working speedometers, gas dials, radio and instrument panel lighting.

Refuelable vehicles had been talked about by R* even before GTA came out on the ps3/360. So this being finally implemented now that they have working gages seems totally feasible. What I don't see is this being so necessary that people will actually be able to camp outside of gas stations to get kills. Think about how often you change vehicles or you vehicle gets blown up in freeroam. The fact of the matter is these tanks would last at least 250-300 miles which is a lot of driving for los santos and blaine county. You're not going to need to refill your tank but maybe every few hours real time, which imo seems completely reasonable. If you've been driving for that long chances are your vehicle is already going to be pretty banged up in the first place and needing repairs as well as gas.

 

Inneresting.. especially if they manage to save the fuel levels each time you park in the garage.. or is your invisible mechanic gonna top it up for you..

 

Even more though.. Could Jonny-not-on-the-fücking-spot be making a comeback!?!?

Even in the Mafia games, where they had working gas gauges and refueling, you still didn't actually run out of gas. It sputtered and slowed down the car when you ran low until you refueled. I don't think it'd matter much though, as long as I don't run out of gas mid-mission or while being chased. Other than that, I'd just call my mechanic or steal another car.

I like it, but we need to take into consideration the different vehicles and their MPG. If vehicles vary from 200-700 miles per tank then I don't see how this would be a problem as we would only rarely need to refuel, besides the amount of gas stations in the game is more than adequate to refuel throughout the map without traveling too far.

No, eventually it would stop running.never had that happen at all and i drove without fuel for quite some time

2k games and 2k czech is owned by Take Two just lile Rockstar games so i see fuel being a feaseable option

well believe it or not, there are some people who don't complain about cash cards/dont even care. your argument is moot. also, people will find something to complain about regardless.

 

if they put fuel in, cool. if not; I'm not going to be upset. But i can tell you one thing, I'm not spending 3000$+ for some pc that will be obsolete in two years.

Its simple u run out of gas get out steal a ped car (because it is called grand THEFT auto) drive a few blocks call mechanic

Which in my case, I would fill up at a gas station. If calling the mechanic gives you a full tank, its kind of pointless having gas stations. Say if I used half a tank, left my car, got to a distance far enough so the mechanic can bring it to me, I would expect him to bring it to me with half a tank, the same as I left it. That would be great in my opinion.

there might be a good way of introducing it, but the longer i think about it the more i would want to skip it.

 

in RL, the question of should i go to the gasstation or not is a matter of days. its not like: " uho, my gas is running low, i need a refill right now, where is a station? omg!" how would it be in gta? during a mission? in the middle of the desert (where everything is still only 5 minutes away) your car brakes down.... no.

You're confusing 'game' with 'escape from reality'.

 

The definition of a game is that it has rules and has some kind of challenge.

 

Fuel adds new rules and new challenges.

 

I play GTA because it's a GAME, not because I need to fantasize about cars I don't have to refuel.

 

Hey, if you don't want the game to add the new rules and challenge that fuel would bring, cool, we choose the games we play. But personally I'm a bit bored of limitlessly getting in vehicles to go somewhere or get away from the cops. That being a bit harder, or at least have some new considerations or challenges - that's something I want. just think a little bit outside of your own urges and the reasoning is obvious, even if it's not compelling to you personally.

optional, like: u can fill up your car at any gasstation anytime u want but it has no effect. its just there if u want to roleplay it in.
