pcformer
Hello Everyone! So I've owned Grand Theft Auto IV for PC for about 2 years now. In these two years, I have become extremely experienced with modding and such. However, I am having an issue in which I can not, for the life of me, find a solution to. My computer should have absolutely no problems running the game with LCPD:FR, a few other script mods, and several other wisely picked car mods, however, it does not. My PC never gets over 30 FPS, and averages at about 23 FPS. The framerate also takes some pretty steep dips into the 15-17 FPS range quite often as well. As I said above, I can not for the life of me, understand why it does this, because my PC should be more than powerful enough to run this game. Here are the specs: Motherboard: MSI 760GM-P23 Power Supply: Corsair CX500 Processor: AMD FX 6100 6 Core at 3.30 Graphics Card: EVGA NVidia GeForce GTX 750ti FTW 2GB Edition RAM: 10GB Monitor: 1080p Full HD LED I've tried all of the performance increasing tactics that I know of, and still can't fix it. I've also tried a commandline, but I keep worrying that I'm not coding it right, so it would be great if someone could create one for me which conforms to my system specifications. Here's what I run the game at: Video Resolution: 1280x720p at 60hz Aspect Ratio: 16:9 Texture Quality: Medium Reflection Resolution: Low Water Quality: Low Shadow Quality: High Night Shadows: Off Texture Filter Quality: Tri-Linear View Distance: 30 Detail Distance: 25 Vehicle Density: 10 Definition: On VSync: Off Resource Usage: 354/3925 MB (Still gives the warning may have exceeded.... even though it should be fine?) There you go! Hopefully there is enough information here. Any help or suggestions you can give will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Again, and Looking Forward! marmoo
For starters shadows chew into performance. Have you played around with that to see what effect that has?
pcformer
For starters shadows chew into performance. Have you played around with that to see what effect that has? Actually, I'm glad you pointed that out. Even in typing this, I didn't notice that they were set on high. I usually leave them on low, and will notice hardly any performance difference. fefenc
Man, this is just a matter of luck. My specs are: AMD FX8350 AMD SAPPHIRE RADEON R9 290 6GB RAM I play GTA EFLC with icenhancer 3 and the game is at maximum settings, with exception of the shadows that I put on high because some people says it's bugged on very high. I play at 1360x768, VSync Off and Clip Capture Off and sometimes my game gets 8-13fps in some areas with traffic and details, it gets unplayable due to the sh*tty fps. But sometimes (like today), the game runs smoothly as f*ck, it runs closely to ++33 fps even on areas with a denser traffic with a lot of skycrappers and details on the screen. I just can't understand what happens with the emulator... GTA IV was sh*tty emulated from xbox 360 to PC, the devs were too lazy to do something decent to their costumers, so you can expect the game running like sh*t on your rig, no matter what kind of component you add to your PC or the black magic you do to the game work like a true PC game on your rig.
