God-eater
Terrible idea. Aside from unacceptable permanent asset loss, sooner or later everyone will have an entourage of feds in tow. A better version would be to tie wanted levels to mental state. For every level of mental state, you generate a star every time you spawn into a new session. You can shake them as normal, but until you lower your profile the heat will be back on regularly.
Dinlee
Well... having your stuff seized is not something I enjoy. However, expand this idea! Make it so, that your character can retake his property by doing a special mission in the fib building. It would work like a heist. - infiltrate (multiple ways, with help of different of main characters like Lester, Madrazo etc.) - hack computer(s) - silence guards (stun gun will be availabe), not killing anyone will get your mental state reset afterwards - more?! Make it that you don't have to create a new character, but make it that you have to do certain missions to fix it. (Add plastic surgeon in there for maximum evasion of IAA/FIB) Let me know if you like this? the negative part of your idea is gone and will be replaced by missions. Fun and long missions. ha. no one would enjoy having their stuff seized but thats kinda the point. But being able to buy back or retrieve via mission/heist would be awesome. Plastic surgeon speaks further to what I was saying about moving your apt or changing your primary vehicle / plates. Good work. Some ideas.. -FIB can only chase you in public sessions, not invite only. -You can buy back your cars for a quarter or so of their value, or you can infilitrate the FIB building (idea from ivarblaauw's post) and get them back! -If you get lifetime sentence in jail, you can break out just like a heist. Call some friends, get them to make a plan. Certain people can break you out of the cell, the others take your modded cars and drive them to your apartment. You'd get your apartment back by hacking some FIB computers, hacking the Pegasus mainframe to get them to believe you have everything before they were seized.. Fun idea, how about breaking TWO or THREE people out at a time? That'd be epic! -Once you've broken out of jail, you can unlock a heist that gives you HALF of the money you had when you got lifetime prison. So if you had GTA$500,000, you would unlock a heist that could give you $250,000. -An idea; If you break out of jail, FBI would obviously be searching for you. So, (either during the break out of prison, or after it) Destroy the intel they have on you! This would 100% reset your FBI stars and they'd have to start from rock bottom. This is definitely a public session only idea and love the idea of a prison break mission. Gather up your crew and bust your out your boy. There are a few viable options that surround this idea. For people that mostly play solo, there could be a 2 day timer that counts down to your release. Possiblly make new contacts in prison that you then could break out yourself. Lester could let other public session players know that you are in prison and offer a solid reward to spring you (40k?) which one one person could accept and awarded for. If that person and his crew die in the process the job is back up for grabs. I like the amount of detail and meddling you put into what after you are freed from prison. Working a mission with lester yo clear your name would be cool. We've moved on from permanent property loss. Read. And the rest of your thought seems like more of a castrated version of both the current mental state and my proposed FIBs level and wouldnt really do either of these better. Instead it would mash them both together? The point is to create long term consequences, as Ive said before. If you are in the population that bought 20 chrome adders back in the billionaire days and doesnt want to "lose what he's worked (in a video game) so hard for" then obviously you arent someone who I'm speaking to with this idea. This would be an expansion for people who are getting bored with the game in its current state and are interested in the progression of this game and it genre. Zwenkwiel
are you for real? seizing assets? are you by any chance a R* employee cuz R* would love a moneysink like this kill some random peds, feds take half your money f*cking ridiculous
Dinlee
Why does everyone treat GTA$ like its real Money. You know you can earn A LOT of it just by playing the game? I've made enough to buy a new house in one freeroam session. There also seems to be a general opinion that R* is "pro take your money" -- This really doesn't seem to be true to me. Sure if all your money comes from shark cards (and you are a damned moron for paying extra to play a free game), then sure, I can see how asset seizure might be annoying for your parents. But it still makes no difference to you. There needs to be some sort of regulation. As it stands now its just constant accumulation and worry free spending. This just doesnt simulate the real world. I also think there should be ways for the game / npcs to rob you or steal your identity and spend money from your account until you notice and take the appropriate counter measures. It just adds variety to a game that is otherwise going stale.Ive heard people say that they dont do Simeon HPVs because "its not worth it" makes no sense. Sure if I pull up to the car and its a junker ill toss a grenade underneath but half the time its a car thats gonna pay 10k + for like 3 min of driving around. BigJoe_1
This is why R* should hire people that are on these forums. This is the best idea I've seen since the 80's update concept thread. Dinlee
ADropInTheOcean
eventually leading to a 100% seizure or possible life sentence, forcing you to create another character.[/size]Uh... No. Gotta agree with the rest though, it would be cool.
Stringer Bell
seize my assets? lock my player from being able to use it and have to make a new character? no way if there was some way to get the stuff back and there was no way i'd be locked out from my player...ok maybe but this idea seems like allot of work Edited October 11, 2014 by Poohdini
HollywoodVice
No. If "other" extensive features haven't even been implemented, wtf would think R* could handle something on this order? Also, you're suggestion is way too detailed and coupled with 16 potential HVTs all in one session would be a cluster f*. Plus our characters don't really perform heinous (in the eyes of GTA) enough crimes to warrant FIB activity.

Most of the assets needed are aleady build into the game. (spy vans and black grangers) It would mostly be script work. Where as hiests are all new content and trying to added it to an already convoluted server and over worked hardware. They were able implement the mental states very quickly and with little to no bugs. This would really be an extension of that and the same concept as the impound system but only for your character instead of the car.

Fingers crossed. Bitches gonna bitch, its what they do.
