AlienTwo
I like the like button, though. It releases endorphins in my brain when people like things of mine, plus allows you to recognize posts directed at you without having to post again. Flachbau
But.. Likes must stay! They increase the already huge ego of kids like me! +1 We shouldn't have to remove the like button because it promotes idiocy. It's a way to give feedback to a member's post without actually replying. Drill Sergeant and JOEsAGGRESSIVE
SimsDaniel916
I use it as an "Acknowledged" button, that way someone knows I saw their post but I won't be replying. Like button doesn't need to be removed. Edited October 10, 2014 by SimsDaniel916 GroundZero, savidge, Drill Sergeant and 3 others
RedDagger
It beats having some guy reply in the thread "lol i like ur post" or whatever. Yeah, it's a simple way to say 'this' 'I like this post ' 'I agree with what you said' 'this is funny' etc. Even with the like button, you still get people replying 'lol' 'this made me laugh' for what one would think of as posts just to gather likes - without likes, some threads would get derailed from all the people giving a single post attention outnumbering people making actual posts. Also it's another method for Tank to get people to raise another totally meaningful counter by farming likes, increasing their dedication to the site and thus ad hits. universetwisters, JOEsAGGRESSIVE and Drill Sergeant

Maxxeine
I beg to differ. If you want to save a post, you like it, and you can access it later. Likes also tell you how many people agree with you based on the amount of likes you get. Same goes for if you post a really good snapmatic, if people like it, they'll click the like button. If that was taken away, how would you know which person agrees with you and which one doesn't? Exactly. It's completely unnecessary to take that feature away. Tacymist
Why so serious? But for real, I've used the like system to save posts like The7thOne does. It has its uses, but you're only looking at it one way. Shoumaker, GroundZero, Maxxeine and 7 others

Kirsty
How about we let normal people like you and I continue to Like posts we enjoy, find amusing or agree with, and just ban the members that think they can get away with idiotic rule breaking behaviour? fefenc, JOEsAGGRESSIVE and Flachbau
Ryan
It encourages idiotic behavior and rewards it. I'd argue the complete opposite. If people like or agree with a post they can just hit the like button rather than pointlessly posting "+1", "Agreed" which could potentially led to quote trains. As for each member's like count, I'm sure there are people on here who post for the sole purpose of trying to obtain likes to up their like count but I'd hardly call it rewarding. It's pretty clear who those types of people are and in the typical internet way the community shames them for it which isn't really much of a reward. Instead of contributing to the actually discussion. From what people have said here, is liking a post the only way to follow a certain post? If so, that should change. hornedturtle
Posting +1 or agreed floods the board with spam, liking a post cuts down on the spam. If you dislike something it is better to explain why you disagree, therefore there is no need for a button for it as it reduces the discussion of the actual topic. If you consider it spam than that is what the report button is for. Ryan, JOEsAGGRESSIVE, Andreas and 2 others
