esmittystud101
I tried to find a topic on this, there was one that wanted you to recommend a racing game that wasn't like GTAV basically. So I figured I would just start a new one since more and more racing games are releasing these next few months. If not, just combine it please with another topic. Doesn't matter. I need help choosing a racing game. I haven't bought one since Forza 3. It can be for X1 or PS4. I see alot of perks for some and alot of crap for others. I can wait a while too, like for one that hasn't come out yet but will within the next few months. Please list the game and the pros and cons that you can think of. Thanks for the info in advance. I can always count on you all.
Dottie
First of all, racing in GTA V is an absolute joke, Sandbox games like to sh*t all over car physics and make driving un-enjoyable IMO (all games unless otherwise noted are b/w 2012ish-now) so here are some more simulation like racing games Forza Motorsport 5 Forza Motorsport 4 Gran turismo 6 Forza Horizon 2 (XB1 version for an off track experience) Toca Race Driver 3 (2006 for PC- pm for more details). Even though it is from 2006, its quite realistic in car behaviour and damage (for the time) controller recommended Dirt 3 (off road simulation game made by codemasters, which are the makers of TOCA RD3 mentioned above) Need for speed Shift GRID series (successor to the TOCA RD series, also a codemaster game) F1 series NASCAR series (if youre in to turning left) More arcade like racers Split second Need for speed series (id recommend anything before Shift and NOT for the wii) Trials Evolution theGTAking101 and ?!=+_-
beanzinapot
The Forza series will never let you down. Forza Motorsport 5 for the track, and Forza Horizon 2 for the open road.
Kiffster
The only racing game I'm interested in right now is Project Cars, coming next month.
esmittystud101
I pretty much narrowed my top four very easily in this genre. Its either Forza Horizon 2, Driveclub, The Crew or Project Cars. Driveclub, for some reason, is not standing out to me what so ever. Don't get me wrong, the game is gorgous. Top knoch graphics. No customizable cars is a huge let down. Games like Project Gothem Racing got away with it, but it had little things that made up for it like being able to race a GSX 1000R street bike against anyone. That was always fun being that guy on the bike smoking everyones doors. Nasty reviews for Driveclub for the most part. Really rocky servers as well. It just looked really bland for a racing game. I don't know how many cars are in it compared to the competition though. Forza Horizon 2 looks good as well. I'm not going to compare it to Driveclub and start a war, so they both look really good. LOL. I'm just assuming Forza still has alot of customizables for the cars too like they did in past games. Like being able to swap out motors and adding turbo/superchargers and then going into detail about it with more than paragraph long talks about if you change this setting this is what it does, If you change this shock setting it gives you better turning in tight situations. They deffinatly get an A+ for that front. Its like having a Automotive Technical School course on a video game. Very cool. The tracks were always okay for the most part. Seems like as soon as they added automatic braking to the cars, these games started to get better. Huge selection of cars, atleast with past games that is. The Crew just looks different. Open world? What?....... I'm deffinatly not used to that in a racing game. " Your car is your RPG" What? I get it though. I don't think the customizables are like Forza. Maybe almost there, but not Forza detail. Just a guess at best though on that subject. I don't know how many cars are in this game either compared to others. It just looks really cool for the fact your buddies can join up with you to just mess around or race. Free roam? I'm guessing yes on that. The racing did look a little arcady like. Which isn't always bad. The graphics looks pretty good. Not as detailed as Forza or Driveclub though. I don't know that much regarding Project Cars. It looks pretty good. The car selection might be okay as well. Doesn't look arcady. Info much apprietiated. So thats pretty much it. If Grand Turismo 6 was for PS4. I would deffinatly give it a thought on purchase. If one game needed remastered and brought to next gen. It was this one. I always liked there games, Grand Turismo 2 was great back in the day on PS1. GT3 was good too on PS2. I think that game was the reason I bought a PS2. What a shame though, no GT on PS4.
Johan
Don't play many racing games but since you're looking for any game especially on the current-gen consoles, I recommend DriveClub.. I've been playing it nonstop since launch night and I have yet to regret purchasing it (aside from the server issues, which will obviously be fixed eventually) the graphics are amazing, the handling is something you have to get used to and master, especially if you're going to top the scores in the time trials and so on. There are other upcoming games in the next few months as well which are also up to you.
Coin
If you're still looking for opinions, I'd go with Horizon 2 of those (it's also open world like The Crew btw, just a smaller map). There's just so much to do; have had it since launch and still probably at most 60% of the way through the SP content and yet to touch online. esmittystud101
theworldfamous
Get Forza if you can. There are more realistic sims out there but forza is the most playable and enjoyable. Horizon is great fun, if a bit easy if you're good at normal forza. Project cars has great pedigree and will be a proper serious racing sim. If you want the traditional large car catalogue and circuit racing, this looks really good...but I understand it has been less than impressive during some preview events...but I think it'll work out. Drive club for now seems like a letdown. I was looking forward to it as I can't play forza anymore but I'm not buying until I hear better news. The Crew for now looks like it'll have some things going for it but it's all gonna come down to how the cars will drive and feel. For that, you really can't go wrong with any of the forza titles. Gdog
since you have both ps4/xb1 then i'd say go with forza. i only have ps4 and haven't playing forza/drive club so only basing this on what one looks best. drive club doesn't look as good as it does in the trailers. maybe once the weather patch is added... i'll get either drive club or project cars. esmittystud101
I bought Forza Horizon 2. It is so pretty. This racer is so forgiving. I hammer down the whole time and I just glide ride along. No assist braking yet needed. I will most likely get The Crew later depending on how people like it. Flachbau
NFS Rivals is also another pretty game. It was fun when I played it on 360.
