You'll go grey early if you go through life worrying about stuff you can't do anything about.

 

My plan is to start a new character or transfer my 2nd one and keep going on the 360 with my main character once the older version dies. Should miss any potential issues that may arise.

I'm not even going to bother trying to go online at launch, I'm playing storymode until its confirmed that online is working smoothly. Gotta be cautious

Well I just hope there are no issues in January on PC. There'll be less people there so hopefully not, and that characters don't mysteriously vanish with transfers.

Who Remembers trying to log into GTA:Online October 1st of last year? Considering the issues Sony had with driveclub this week, should we be worried that the added traffic of the next gen games to GTA online will cause havoc again? Now these servers may not be the same as the last gen servers. Maybe. Just a question on if we should be concerned not getting onto GTA Online.

I don't know.... GTA online is pretty dead now. I know it will get a short revival on Nov. 18th..... but I don't think it will be anything major.... especially since R* is charging a full $60 for the game.

If you log on your PSN account on PS4 it will transfer everything and everyone on your friends list, you can see your PS3 buddies online status but they can't see yours.

None at least for me I will wait and see.

 

Are not a lot of people waiting to see what exactly the Character Transfer will look like and if issues arise on the day so will not have the game anyway?. Playing with Friends yesterday who will not transfer made me realise a lot of people will not if the character duplication is not fully to the new system and you can play the same character with different progression from there on, on either system.

If that's the case, since your PSN goes over intact, then there really shouldn't be any drama. After my last PS3 took a sh*t, I was relieved to find that R*'s cloud doesn't care what console you're on as long as you're logged into PSN.

I sure hope it goes smoothly but more than likely it won't. It doesn't matter too much to me because I'll be playing the story over again to soak in all the new gen console goodness and go for 100% completion again, of course.

Anyone that gets a huge selling game, and expects online to be up and running in a fully functional state, is off their tits!

 

Mmos, fps, sports games... You name it, their servers fall to pieces day one... EVEN with stress tests before hand, see it as a tradition.

Nah i don't think we'll have any issues with the launch...

 

They were unprepared for issues with Online launch but i think they will be ready this time and i'm sure they have been testing the online platform on PS4/XB1 consoles for a while now and have fixed any issues that have arrived.

To address the numbers...obviously, there will be less people playing the PS4/XB1 versions when they come out because of the number of available consoles alone. However, I keep seeing people make the mistake of only considering current players who are updating to new consoles. I personally know at least half a dozen people who never even got the game for PS3/XB because they had already abandoned their old consoles for the new ones. I'm sure there's a bunch more just like them, so, while there will definitely be less people trying to use the servers, it's not going to be quite as few as some are predicting.

 

To address you referring to those who transfer as "fools"...no one who loves playing this game is a fool for upgrading. If you upgrade, you get a significantly better looking game with more people, better/smoother game play and exclusive content, and that's just for starters. There's nothing at all foolish about wanting to upgrade for these things. I'd say it's more foolish not to upgrade if you have the means to do so, and more so if you're not because they're charging full price for the game. It's not like the price is going to drop anytime soon, so basically you'll just lose out on the improvements for 6-8 months over $20 or so.

 

To each their own, I guess.
