Question for the rare item seekers...

What is your reason for seeking rare in-game items? To show off? To say you have them? Unless it is something you use all the time I do not see the point.

 

To me spending time seeking objects one will not utilize is the opposite of efficiency.

If the game is suppose to last for years then you can see why I collect. I used to be the same when ps home had holidays and event items.

I like collecting rare items. I like having an item that's hard to get and not many people have.

 

Edit: And it's not just about getting the item. I like the thrill you get when you're actually going for the item, racing against other players.

There are few 'rare items' in this game. Event crate drops are probably the rarest. I go for them if they look good. Finding them is also a good challenge, having six people battle over the Victory Fist crate drop was fun.

 

In reference to the other collectables in this game, cars. I have a Serrano which is moderately rare, as such it was refreshing to see and drive.

I wish my second character had the bull mask but at least my 1st does. I am rank 406 and I love going into public sessions and turning the tables on the bully.

i'm sure no one here would spend 34 million dollars on a gta online beer hat, it takes a few hours of free time and $0 to get one. its the same idea though- owning rare and collectible things is fun

Rare hockey cards increase in value so there is a point to them. I have some nba rookie cards from the early to mid 90's.

This game changed when the semi rare cars became available to buy.. A lot of the fun went out of it for me..

Examples -

Finding the rusty rebel or camper on the beach near chilliad

Driving past the golf club all the time for the tailgater

Session hopping to try and get the youga

I work in an office so I won't dress that way in game. My character is a mercenary.

Collecting rares or what we can still call rares just makes some players feel better when playing the game, maybe they like having something that not a lot of other players use, maybe there's something about it that they can't resist.

 

All of the above apply to me when it comes to the Phoenix. I love the roar of the engine, the look of it, whether you want to keep it looking stock or make it unique in your own way it's almost impossible to make this car look bad (with the exception of GiantsGiants of course) and although it might not be the rarest in terms of searching I don't see a lot of them at car meets so to me they're a rare sight.

I have every single exclusive item in GTA Online, and I don't plan to stop any time soon.
