It really annoys me how minorities think that if one of them gets killed by a cop, then the cop did something wrong. If you shoot at a police officer, expect to get shot back and probably killed.

I can understand this shooting, He was fired at first, he was in the right to shoot back, Although 17 shots is excessive...

 

But in almost every other case, I can't side with the police.

I think it's because cops shooting black people is starting to become a more relevant issue. This is a really bad example, but when many unarmed blacks are racially profiled and shot at, people start ti get angry.

Well, coming from a black teenager who's actually paranoid about being profiled, I would reluctantly have to agree with OP based off of what we currently know.

 

Approaching the suspect could have been handled better, but that doesn't justify trying to shoot at someone because you're trying to get away from them. The 17 shots were excessive, but so was the suspect.*

I appreciate your perspective as it's one I will never have, me being a white man. In this case though, the "cop" was an off-duty guy doing guard duty for a private company. He has no legal right to chase anyone, he's just there to keep people out, not to chase people acting "suspicious" so I think the guy had every right to do whatever he felt he needed to do to maintain his saftey. Think how differently this would be looked at by the populace in general had the "suspect" been white, this event was in Florida and if the "cop" was shot.

 

F*ck, he might have been given a medal and a reality show.

Just browse youtube for "Police Brutality" you will notice a few things, first, the vast, vast majority of the police involved are from the US, the majority of those are white and the majority of their "suspects" are people of color. This might inform you a bit more on why things across the pond are responded to in this way. Very different than in England where cops are A) respected and B) generally deserve that respect.
