is the merryweather helicopter pickup broken after 1.17?

twice today i've tried to use the merryweather helicopter pickup (with no luck).

the first time i was near the rebel radio station and called for a helicopter pickup (so i could use it to go to a special crate drop), but he did was hover over the station transmitter antenna and wouldn't go to where i was on highway 68.

 

the second time happened about 30 minutes ago, me and another player did a lester mission and another special crate drop message popped up.

so i called for a helicopter pickup in the rain (i was near lester's warehouse) we waited for about 10 minutes (real time) and it never showed up.

 

has anyone else had troubles with it since 1.17??

Nope, used it yesterday with no trouble. It's always been a little buggy for me though.

It has done this to me before 1.17.

It will just hover high in the sky and never come down or it will hover just a tiny bit off the ground so you cant enter, you have to shoot the pilot.

For me, It still works the same percentage of time as it did prior to 1.7. You pretty much have to be standing in a road or a large parking lot for 95% chance he will land. If you start shooting NPCs and sh*t, he will get spooked and just hover. I've used the pickup quite a bit since the update with no issues.

for me helicopter pickup have been broken since patch 1.01

 

that mofo landed only ONCE for me an that was back in october 2013.

 

the rest of the attempts he would just hover, it doesnt matter the location the mofo wont land.

They pick you up in a heli and take you where you need to go, just call MW and select heli pickup in an open area

I've done it 3 times in 1.17, and it works. But I also have called it in before and it has done similar things to what you are describing. It is one of those things that are just really glitchy and cannot be 100% relied on

I use the helicopter ppickup a lot, especially when I'm stranded and don't feel like driving. It has always worked pretty well for me, and has given me little to no problems. I've even used it a couple of times since 1.17 and it still isn't an issue.

i've only once had them tell me they've revoked my merryweather services because of my actions.

i tried a third time tonight because of a special crate drop and i worked i killed the pilot, the xrate was my 2nd one since last saturday (same stuff)!

The Helicopter not landing seems like a fairly common issue to me. I have also not had it come a few times just to waste my money some more...

 

Not as deliberately trying to steal your money as Mercs though. If the other Player dies through any means whatsoever after you call them Merryweather takes credit (at least for me) and you lose the satisfaction of being able to call to get another player killed as you please...

You just have to be careful where you are, the more land space there is the faster and easier it will come down, if your in the city or what not, it tends to take forever cos its coming down looking for a space between the buildings and cars. So every time I call it up I look for a empty space and it works fine

Works just fine for me as of today. I use it all the time, when I need to get across the map quickly, or I'm under fire and need to get out of dodge quick. It's nice to be able to defend a hot LZ while calling in an extraction!

And well....on some locations or if someone or something is bl9cking the lz the pilot simply stops its descent

I never used it since I tried to get them to land on a large, uncluttered roof & it didn't work.

i always position myself in suitable areas or just in the middle of the crossing. it lands nearly every time, i have no issues. but i didnt call them for a while now. maybe you had troubles because of the cratedrop? i would suggest retrying it a little more often under different circumstances.

Not those issues, no. But I've noticed they're a lot slower after this patch. They seem to take forever to reach you now, where as they use to be pretty fast.

The hovering happening in two missions last night for me. In chopper tail the damn chopper you chase never landed and in defender it took the guy 10 mins to land and he bailed out in the end.

I use it all the time and its always been broken. Its rare that he doesnt come at all. Alot of times he will come to my location and just hover. Sometimes i get lucky and shoot him and the heli falls and lands, most times it falls and blows the f*ck up.
