Too much radar clutter?

Put it this way, if we had never had any blue markers at all, and then one day someone comes on here and suggests the idea of introducing them, I think we all know how that idea would be received.

It's the same with lots of the mechanics in GTA:O. Even things like switching TV channels. It seems obvious to have a 'channel-wheel', similar to the weapon wheel or radio wheel, instead of toggling through channels, live feeds, and CCTV cameras one by one. When someone rings on your doorbell you should be able to view who is outside with a single button press, not a two minute flick through the channels after switching your TV on. The mechanics are in the game, Rockstar have built them, but the user interface designs are terrible.

Radar clutter - How about start with none and people can choose to activate it all if they want. And like you say - who would choose to switch on all the blue junk? Nobody.

the summer intern designed the UI for rockstar. I've thought the same thing about the TV channels and the CCTV. door's ringing, then it takes a 10 minute process to see who's there, then they've already left. channel wheel is a good idea.

Also (as well as the TV) a one-click button press on the intercom unit on the actual front door to link straight to the CCTV camera feeds. Simples!

Has anyone ever bothered to send this as a request to Rockstar support team or even start a "thread" in their support website? If not, lets f*cking do it now!

I'll be honest. The TV is one of the literally hundreds of things that I'd have personally done differently in GTAO. The radar clutter is another. The launching missions or entering garages requiring a button press is another. It all seems so simple to me. I mean - really simple.

For a company that gets single player so amazingly spot on, they really mucked up the Online mechanics. Really simple things done really badly - and for no good reason.

The TV is something I was quite excited about (I'm sad to say!) because I quite often sit around and flick through the channels in single-player (just as I did in GTA IV) but then you load up multi-player, flick a channel and it forces you into a ten second load of someone's game. Why on earth should my TV pick up other people's games? I don't want that! And if you're going to give me that option (which I don't want) then at least warn me that's what you are going to do. Rockstar said you'd be able to watch TV in your own appartment and suddenly you might see one of your crew or friends getting into a Wanted level in a random newsflash. That's a great idea! Then the reality is a really botched TV system that means nobody watches TV.

Watching your friend/crew get out of a Wanted level on TV sounds like fun - but only if it happens rarely (not a continuous, "watch everyone muck about with police" feed.) And I expected it to be presented from the view of the News Helicopter (like real-life) because you shouldn't be able to see them from their point of view, which makes the chase look boring and mundane. That's silly and ruins the immersion.

And then there's the clothes. Why do you have to scroll through tens of the same style of shirt to get to the next one. Surely you should scroll through styles THEN colours. Y'know - make it sensible, functional and FUN. And why can't you drop clothes. I have loads in my wardrobe I don't want because the DLC packs automatically stuck them there. I like a tidy wardrobe. A 'drop/clear' option perhaps?

The list in my head LITERALLY goes into the hundreds. And I know the fixes for all of them, but it is the fact that GTAO is fundamentally flawed that deters me from contacting Rockstar. The mentality of GTAO is nothing like the mentality of GTA V, which is the best game ever made - tremendously polished and considered.

The things about the radar that I find totally stupid is that icons for jobs remain at the edge of the radar rather than fall off it like apartments and friends apartment do. That and covering up the health bar is pretty stupid. Gamertags on blips are not needed and are just annoying.

Most of the discussion on these boards about that is summarized in this crowd-sourced concept:

basically yes, things are cluttered, make the blue jobs optional and then add some small, but very important changes to help make the map more useful

someone very horny made that ugly "girl gamer" blip
