  1. 1. Do you believe that we should be able to create restrictions for Free-Roam lobbies?

    • Yes, it would kill griefing and benefits crew immensely!
      60
    • No, it would split the already fractured userbase too much!

    • I'm undecided.

Yes.

Back when modders and pogo mask wearers running around in god mode with tanks and gets with supers didn't ruin the experience. When you could store any vehicle in your garage. When you first got to level 21, you unlocked the sniper rifle. When instead of grinding rooftop rumble, you grinded the stores and Violent Duct.

When running out of ammo was a thing.

Times were simpler. I miss that. Now people just get ammo when they run out, if they even do run out to begin with.

All in all; yes. The old days were better.

yeah and the good memories of running to the rooftop during survival mode at the boneyard. :rol:

I miss the first days of GTAO launch, it was so new and fresh and everyone was low levels, I do miss the mechanic bringing your car, but Im fine with how gta is now, you just get used to it

I miss the days of seeing a red bulldozer or silver lawnmower driving out of someone's garage... watching my crew mates call the mechanic to deliver a tank... following around players that had Trevor's blazer.. And when the first super car I saw was the cheetah.

Before tanks were on the radar automatically and you could almost trust other players to occasionally not murder.

It was fun seeing almost everyone at the same level you were at, plus the deathmatches were tons of fun back then.

The only good times were the 3 weeks of the billionaires. That was actually fun. The rest of the year has been just getting sniped, sticky-bombed, run over, drove-by, and (just 20 minutes ago) mini-gunned right after a mission, all without provocation. GTA0 free-roam is a zoo full of sh*theads. I'm still waiting for the good old days.

After the Stimulus package, High Life Update etc, Do you feel like its better now?

After the character deletion week and before the Billionaire days, wasn't it better those days. No tanks, people didn't know the Lazer had missiles for the machine guns, people had normal cars like the Schafter, Elegy, 9F, Phoenix. You could sneak up on people without the whole lobby knowing you went off-radar, Normal missions that had good payouts that people didn't grind.

Old days better? No.

I missed the first 2-3 weeks.

Tanks? They were everywhere. Everyone had a tank. Free roam tank wars. But I miss the tank sniping.

Jets? Yes, they were vey rare. The first good jet pilot I met in December or January.

Off-radar? The warning message is no problem.

Payouts? Most missions had low payouts as far as I remember. I like the time-based payout much better. The mission grinding started with "Coveted" and "Rooftop Rumble".

Grinding? "Criminal Records" and "Down the Drain"... 5000 RP for one lap...

I think December was the best month for GTAO. We had the North Yanton glitch, the Building Interior glitches, we all had $2,000,000,000+ GTA$, Back when we were still hyped for heists. It was amazing.

Now were just farming the same boring misions that we've been playing from launch, constantly being put in spawn killing Death-matches. We already have everything there is to have, and were just waiting for a worthwhile update.

I smell new missions around the corner... Shouldn't be long before we get a bunch of new content. With the new release coming up it's almost a cert.

Hey guys, I was just thinking about the evolution of how we as players interact with one another in the GTAO world.

Last year, when GTAO was fresh and new, and everyone was running around in crappy cars with the basest of weaponry, no bulletproof tires or sticky bombs to be seen... It was great, it felt like a challenge, but most importantly in my opinion, it felt authentic. Over the course of the last year, the majority of us have watched our little avatars become graduated kingpins of the Los Santos underworld... but I feel like something is missing... or more to the point, we may have gone too far.

I started a new character a little while ago, and I found that when I wasn't being unnecessarily molested by outranking finger-sniffers, the game was actually a lot more fun to play than it was with my level 200 character. Police battles seem more intense, the map feels larger because it takes longer to traverse, finding a Buzzard at an airfield is exciting when you can't call one in. Gunfights amongst players are also more fun at low levels, especially against other low level players. When you're a hundred percent sure you're having an honest pistol fight, and the guy you're facing isn't going to RPG you while you're in cover, this game is a frickin' blast. Car chases are made more intense by non-bulletproof tires, too.

Now, before anyone decides they need their nappy changed, I'm not suggesting that GTAO be "nerfed" or any such nonsense. What I mean by this post is that in GTAO we're supposed to be gangsters, low level gangsters at that. It massively spoils the illusion of a "living, breathing city" when you have tanks and attack aircraft blitzing the sh*t out of pedestrians at the beach. It spoils the illusion that Joe Bloggs can be walking down the street armed with a selection of weapons so large he could open his own damn gun show.

I'd love it if we were able to have a lobby settings menu at some stage in the future, where a host could limit certain aspects, like banning certain weapons, and other accouterments. Imagine a 30 player Free-Roam populated by a few crews, none of whom can use weapons outside of Sawn off, Combat Pistol, Micro-SMG, Molotovs, and Knives. Obviously this would lead to other types of lobby like "Snipers Only" etc, but I'm trying to keep focused on the low-level crime stuff.

I'm just spitballing here, but what do you guys think? Would this make GTAO more immersive? Do you think that we have been given too many liberties in Los Santos? Am I alone in feeling that low-level gun battles are more fun? What restrictions would you consider making yourselves?

Tl;dr - We have too extensive an arsenal for GTAO to feel authentic anymore, do you think it's more fun at lower levels?

Why do people put the "TL;TR" thing at the end? It defeats the ENTIRE purpose of it.

Anyway, of course we should be able to edit free roam lobbies (like GTA IV).... but Shark Cards.... so it will never happen.

I'm not trolling either... it's the truth.

I didn't buy GTA V until the day after Christmas so I don't really know what it was like when GTA Online first came to be.

  • 4 weeks later...

as in every game, starting small, having an overview, concentrating on the little things is very very satisfying. rare things are valuable.

In my opinion......

Ranking up was too easy. Should have been more drawn out. Weapons that came with said rank-ups should have been more spread out in hindsight.

....^^^ Dead Goon is spot on. The Ranking and Reward strategy was all wrong. We now have players who are Lvl 200+, 300+ and beyond but nothing to work towards other than accumulating more money for the next DLC.

Limited carrying capacity; you're now only able to carry 2~4 weapons (same or better ammo capacity) but can swap them out at a gun locker in your apartment/hotel/Ammunation.

.....^^^ This is a good solution for making the game more grounded. Another would be to apply a carry weight to each weapon and each player has a max carry weight limit (again this could increase with rank) and you are only able to carry Weapons upto that limit. So in effect you could carry a number of smaller weapons but say only 1 or 2 big ones.

However, I only see this as a solution for Free Roam. All weapons should be available in DMs etc.
