  1. 1. Do you believe that we should be able to create restrictions for Free-Roam lobbies?

    • Yes, it would kill griefing and benefits crew immensely!

    • No, it would split the already fractured userbase too much!

Ranking up was too easy. Should have been more drawn out. Weapons that came with said rank-ups should have been more spread out in hindsight.

I agree. I also think it's stupid that low levels now have access to sweet enough guns as soon as they start because of the DLC packs insisting on "including everyone". It's nonsense.

I do not agree because newbies now have a fighting chance against high ranking players because their weapon arsenals are more evened out. It is more about skill and less about having the better gun. I do agree with your other posts though.

Custom free mode settings didn't stop IV's online from being absolute chaos!!

My point exactly. I see you played IV. OP is complaining like he wants to run through fields of flowers locked hand and hand with other online players. This is GTA. Theres always been powerful vehicles and such.

I agree.

I liked it a lot more when we could set the weapons to owned and NOT have a bunch of idiots spam RPG's and explosives.

The cars would be better if there were less sports and supers in the game overall (or were harder to obtain).

So everyone can agree we should just go back to IV gameplay? I sure wouldn't mind. My free aim on there was godly and I enjoyed running around picking up my guns.

I think custom lobbies & a posse system would bring new life to GTA. The posse system made it simple to meet new friends on RDR, I don't see why they can't implement something of the like.

Newbies don't DESERVE to have a fighting chance...they should have to scrape and claw to get that grenade launcher like the rest of us did, and be splattered by RPGs once they've got it. It's kind of like coming of age, GTA style.

I said elsewhere, give 2 lobby options: one for the way it was when it started and one with the baby bumpers on everything. No more than that is needed.

I agree somewhat, but my illusion is spoiled by my avatar kingpin doing work for everyone else and handing off packages with his posture indicating he is the beta in the transaction. Working up from a low level gangster is what GTA has always been about. I miss the first days and weeks too from a fun perspective but the world and the players have evolved. I bet there are real gangsters who reminisce on the days of pistol shootouts before everything was automatic. I remember TV with no remote

...in GTAO we're supposed to be gangsters, low level gangsters at that. It massively spoils the illusion of a "living, breathing city" when you have tanks and attack aircraft blitzing the sh*t out of pedestrians at the beach. It spoils the illusion that Joe Bloggs can be walking down the street armed with a selection of weapons so large he could open his own damn gun show.

Spot on. This will only worsen with the addition of the Hydra and Hunter too.

I'd like to see lobbies with player blips removed entirely or where use of military/armed vehicles incurrs the full wrath of the army until death. Anything to get this game back to something reminiscent of it's 'gritty' beginnings

What I've been thinking too things are becoming too militarized, even hearing that they added bulletproof helmets doesn't seem right to me. GTAO like almost every multiplayer was at it's best at lauch because people just wanted to have fun and the overpowered weapons and cars hadn't been unlocked or found out about yet.

I was thinking they could work in an optional prestiege like system where in true GTA style your character gets betrayed and the majority of your riches get stolen so you end up back in the streets like you were at level 1, there would be benefits for people that were willing to sacrifice their money like unlocking new missions, weapons, cars etc and at a certain level the money that was stolen would be returned to your account so the shark card purchasers wouldn't feel hard done by.

If we had a better matchmaking system that determined your lobby by your rank, that issue would be avoided entirely. A level 3 shouldn't be expected to fight a level 250, but that's the fault of the matchmaking.

I think you've entirely missed the point of the OP. There's not a complaint to be seen, for a start. I also fail to see how I insinuated some sort of peaceful Utopian Los Santos, all I said is that the military grade weaponry we wield is overpowered, and doesn't really fit the attempted theme of GTAO.

IV was great, but a downgrade to that system doesn't really make sense. Parallel lobbies would be a better fit, in my opinion.

Im saying a lobby system like IVs. You could set up a free mode lobby just like you want. Why would it be a downgrade?

Hahaha such a non-biased poll! ;)

What's biased about it? The suggestion that crews would be better off?

You can stop repeating the point, we got it the first time. It strips out the mechanics already in the game for progression etc, and doesn't incorporate the other elements of the game that are attached to free-roam. Issues like that could be hashed out, but a parallel system allows both to coexist.

I remember those low level days. Sleeping in my car, doing sh*tty Simeon missions and defending myself with my sh*tty Combat pistol. Like a week after Online launched, I remember this guy pulling up next to me in an adder. He got out and he was wearing a nice suit and had a platinum MG in his hands. I wanted that stuff.

I thought I'd never be him but here I am, 20 sports cars, 2 high end apartments and an arsenal of guns which would put the US Army to shame. Tbh I prefered the old days. I played because I was motivated to become rich. It gave me a good reason to play, to get all of that fancy sh*t... but now I couldn't care less about the money and the fast cars.

Everyone is either flying jets, driving tanks or using a minigun these days. Online aint what it used to be.

I made the terminal error of speculating what GTA: Online might be like before it actually came out.

In my mind, I invented the specific mechanics for the game of my dreams.

And when GTA V came out, it all seemed set to come true. Los Santos and Blaine County is an amazing sandbox of life, colour and craziness. All that Rockstar's Online developers needed to do was create the right mechanics and rules for Online.

Sadly, GTAO is exactly how I'd choose not to build a persistent online GTA world. My opinion is that they picked the most simple, basic structure they could possibly implement (i.e. Simeon car appears on map, take it to garage, take it to docks, you will probably receive grief OR everything you do marked on map for all to see so that people will come to people and cause things to happen that will probably result in an emotional response) and then just let it all happen. Then they tried to make adjustments based on feedback. But there is no turning back the core mechanics of GTA:O. Rockstar set their stall and that's that.

For this reason, I didn't vote any of the options in the poll because it's difficult to fix something that's fundamentally broken.

Don't get me wrong - I think GTA:O is a 7 or 8/10 experience. Really fun sometimes when you have your friends and crew together and something randomly becomes fun. But they have missed the chance to make something as amazing out of GTA:O as they have in GTA, the offline franchise.

People are more excited about GTA 6 than the next Online adjustments, and that means they got it wrong.

Anyway, I would prefer a more grounded GTAO experience but the core, fundamental game mechanics would need to be changed rather than just splitting the lobbies further with restrictions.

That is the main problem with GTA V and Online. It's all about the expensive stuff. Every criminal in the city driving super cars and running around with Miniguns. It's paradise for kids who all they want to do is show off their yoloswag. The whole game is COD's gun camos and Blunt Trauma x 10000000.

I would love to see a more grounded online. One idea is to replace Free Aim with Hardcore lobbies. And more clothes that make you look a criminal who lives in Los Santos and not a visiting tourist on vacation with ADHD and a lust for random carnage. Hardcore mode from RDR must return. No blips. Voice chat limited to proximity. You're limited to what guns you carry by one gun per weapon tier.

With the new blip system it would add a whole new feeling of being "on the run" when you have a bounty. Actually keeping away from danger. Hiding up north. Bounties should last way longer in Hardcore. If you're into a certain time into your bounty, npc mercenaries could track you down. If you stay around npc's too long you could be "reported last seen around ______" and it will show up in the lobby feed for other players to investigate. If you escape a 3 star wanted level you automatically get a bounty. And cops will be looking for you, but not Wanted. Dying should have actual consequences. Cops should be able to enter your apt if you are wanted and mercenaries can enter too if you have a bounty. If you die while having cash on you no matter that amount will drop when you die, so you better use an ATM. No more maze bank internet atm in Hardcore. You get hungry thirsty and tired in Hardcore so keep an eye on that. Your hygiene as well so shower once in a while. If you wear a mask when robbing a store it will effectively hide your identity. Wall of text. Read or not, I'm ranting

I think that was one of the charms of IV's simple free roam. You actually felt like every bullet counted, and cars weren't nothing but supers.

I think all the glitches and money lobbies ruined the experience, everybody has everything, and there is nothing else to work for so they are bored and just grief people in freeroam. I've been playing since the beginning, but I can only play for a couple of hours a week due to other commitments, I haven't even reached rank 100 yet, and I'm still having a great time.

I would love it. I remember the GTA Online days of 2013, They were actaully fun with lot's of surpises and there weren't any legit level 200's who could easily demolish the whole lobby.

I would love it if one day R* gave us the option to join 'rough' servers. These servers would still have shops and everything else available only they wouldn't sell any of the high level weapons which means no Heavy Snipers, no Advanced Rifles, no Sticky bombs nothing that let's you get an easy kill, the only shotgun that would be available would be the sawed off shotgun since you need to get in really close.

No one would live in their fancy apartments they would all own one of the small houses with 2 car garages, you would be restricted to 1 property, I mean what kind of hustler own's 2 houses. You would get to choose 2 cars from your any of your properties in the normal servers to store in your small garage so it would be a tough choice also did I mention that any car from legendarymotorsport.com wouldn't be allowed so your best options would be cars like the Gauntlet, Dominator, Phoenix, Zion, Sultan and all those other sporty but regular cars.

These servers would be solely for people who wanted to play the game but not have access to anything OP so there would probably be barely any kiddies in these servers :D.

Hopefully we get something like this in the future so until then I guess the closest thing we've got to this is just creating a new character.

I must say I enjoyed the old days, because it felt more immersive being closer to real life.

Sure, there are obviously tons of unrealistic aspects of this game, but many of them serve to keep the game convenient and fun.

I just wish people could see the fun in this game without taking EVERYTHING to the extreme (chrome adder with dollar rims, rocket launchers, and buzzards, dressed as a clown).

I think that Free-Roam will and should always have its own place but it would be nice to alter some of the rules and be able to have rando's join.

I suppose this is my sentiment, too. I pine for the simpler things.

After the Stimulus package, High Life Update etc, Do you feel like its better now?

After the character deletion week and before the Billionaire days, wasn't it better those days. No tanks, people didn't know the Lazer had missiles for the machine guns, people had normal cars like the Schafter, Elegy, 9F, Phoenix. You could sneak up on people without the whole lobby knowing you went off-radar, Normal missions that had good payouts that people didn't grind.

Yes.

Back when modders and pogo mask wearers running around in god mode with tanks and gets with supers didn't ruin the experience. When you could store any vehicle in your garage. When you first got to level 21, you unlocked the sniper rifle. When instead of grinding rooftop rumble, you grinded the stores and Violent Duct.

When running out of ammo was a thing.

Times were simpler. I miss that. Now people just get ammo when they run out, if they even do run out to begin with.

All in all; yes. The old days were better.
