VIPΣR
Everything is working fine for me and my PS3 is from the first slim generation. What type of internet connection do you have? Your controller might be broken or your PS3.

GTA DUDE05
7 hours of PSN maintenance scheduled for October 13 Sony to deploy a "series of back-end improvements" to the PlayStation Network this coming Monday. Sony announced today that the PlayStation Network will undergo routine maintenance on Monday, October 13, for a period of around seven hours. It's currently scheduled to take place on that day from 10 AM to 5 PM PDT. "During this time we will deploy a series of back-end improvements to the network," Sony wrote. If you've signed into the PSN since October 8 you will be able to play PS4, PS3, and PS Vita games online and access entertainment apps like Netflix during the maintenance period. However, the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Home, and Account Management will be offline. "We thank you for your patience and support and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause," Sony said. After six years of continued support, Sony announced plans in September to shutter PlayStation Home. The service will be taken offline early next year in the United States, Canada, and Europe. Though I can't say I ever used that much and I don't know anyone else that did. As to the maintenance, it is hilariously bad timing for me because Monday is a holiday in the US(Columbus Day), and many people are out of work and school. At least it seems it'll end early in the afternoon.
