Why does r* have to be the stupidest people in the world by changing how the game was it just kicks me out of passive mode and i get trolled by people in buzzards because r* doesnt know what the f*ck they are doing every update they ruin the game i just raged so hard because these kids think their so good flying from 100 feet in the air just spamming rockets whilr i click on passive mode and it kicks me out of it for no appearent reason

That's been the only topic I've talked about since 1.17 came out.

I can live with paying for people's personal vehicles now.
I can even live with Bad Sport warnings for blowing someone up while they're in their car.

But messing with Passive Mode is where I draw the line.

I remember the days where Passive Mode only did what you told it to do.
But now, there aren't even any absolute rules when it comes to Passive Mode.

Sometimes it just takes you out of it with no warning.

Guy kills me in a jet, crashes, goes passive, leaves.

 

In a good location for attacking, passive dude walks right up, messages me, I think "Oh hes friendly" I respond against my better judgement and he goes off passive and blasts me, respawn rpgs me, leaves.

 

Tank kills me, I think tactically and park my most expensive ride in front of his and hide in the tattoo parlor, he blows me up through the wall without hitting our cars. He dies, leaves.

 

My fury knows no bounds when I do not get my revenge. (This happened yesterday)

What happend to passive mode anyway? Haven't tried it out yet.

Let me explain it the best I can.

Most of the time, if you exit a vehicle while in Passive Mode, the timer starts counting down from 10 seconds, like if you had chosen to "Disable Passive Mode".

The problem with this is I STILL don't know if I'm vulnerable in those 10 seconds, much like you would be if you chose "Disable Passive Mode" and had to wait for the 10 second timer to count down.

Apart from that, sometimes it DOESN'T kick you out of Passive Mode when you exit a vehicle.

And OTHER times, it just takes you out of Passive Mode for no reason.

Also, sometimes after you've been killed and respawn, if you go into Passive Mode as soon as you respawn, the timer begins counting down... after you JUST chose to enter Passive Mode.

Like I said - There are no absolute rules. It does what it wants. I've been killed twice now because of Passive Mode deciding it wants to throw me out of it.

... I'm sorry, you were a competitive player only when you had Passive Mode? I don't think that's right; a competitive player should be fine without Passive Mode. Heck, they should love the new passive mode changes; lets them get a bunch more kills on those who think they will get away.

I played a session for over 6 hours last night and I got killed 4 times.

2 were legit kills, and the other 2 were from me not knowing I got thrown out of Passive Mode.

This is not me bragging. I do not brag in this forum. I am just an avid Passive Mode user and I used to get killed less than 4 times a session.

Now, I find myself selecting "Kill Myself" a lot more often simply because I don't know when Passive Mode is going to randomly stop working.

I certainly used Passive Mode to avoid being killed. I still do, but now I have to spam the L1 button all session long just so I can tell when I've been thrown out of Passive Mode.

I enjoy the game by playing like a wuss. Actually, I consider it playing smart and utilizing all the features of the game, but now it's almost like... it's almost like... it's almost like I have to play fair now.

I'm not talking about being a "wuss" or anything, but if you consider yourself "competitive", the loss of passive mode shouldn't pose an issue (or cause you to get killed 8 times in a row).

Oh did i not mention 2 buzzard players spamming rockets into me while police running me over listen i get about 70+ kills and maybe a few deaths a lobby but my internet was acting up so i was left alone in a lobby then people came in buzzards out of no where spamming rockets while i had no chance considering they were out of my sight from any weapon i could use so yes i used passive mode but this update ruined the passive mode thing they might aswell remove it

Oh, I'll never get killed 8 times in a row. If anything, after the 1st time, I'll just kill myself over and over until I can get away.

Its funky for sure.

 

I was 100% sure I was in passive as I walked into an ammunation last night. Someone had tailed me there so im sure I set it as I was checking to see if I unlocked any gun tints as I knew I was close.

 

 

Before I knew it my tail had entered the store and gunned down the clerk.

 

As a knee jerk reaction I jumped behind the counter and took cover only to be shot in the head.

 

So the taking cover took me out of passive?????

 

I raged so hard I suicide bombed dude at least 10 times to fvck up his k/D as my boy was heavy sniping him when I was busy respawning and rigging a new car.

 

Now I know what happened I think.

I hope more players see this thread or threads like it so that they realize they AREN'T going crazy.

Rockstar just changed Passive Mode and set no definitive rules for it.

Perhaps it's just a bug and they'll fix it?

I read something like that in the patch notes, but I've been killed while being apparently in passive mode, I think it disables if you exit a vehicle but I am not sure, it sucks it's random.

Passive mode should just make you a ghost to everyone, much like non-contact races.

I explained it in the comments already.

But the major change is that Rockstar now takes you out of Passive Mode and, quite often, it does so without telling you.
