Jakee.
So in the Seaplane Mission, I found that it would simply crash when I attempt to take off or just ease off the water. There is absolutely no way to get around this, it has essentially broken my progress in the game. Firstly I am wondering if anyone can help fix it, or failing that was wondering if someone would mind taking my save and completing the mission for me, that way I can keep my original save. - No mods - No cheats used I have tried a fresh install and nothing. My PC is more than good enough to run the game. I have attached my save should someone want to test if its only my save or what. I have also attached my settings (just incase there's issue there) Also, I tried putting game into compat mode but it couldn't find my saves and also reverted all options back, so I unchecked the compat. box. Save Game Settings Any help would be greatly appreciated, really got back into this game and would love to progress!

I am using the steam version of the game so that might be the problem. Gimme a sec... EDIT: I downgraded my Steam gta-vc.exe and as able to load your save. Fortunately, I was also able to complete the mission. That's a very strange problem. Are you using a pirated or "cracked" version of the game? For: Jakee. Silent
Before you ditch your save, mind checking what the crash address is? VC will display it in a tiny dialog box upon crashing (Alt+Tab to get to it)

Mission: Dildo Dodo Helper: thehambone Link: http://gtasnp.com/44251 Complete I am running the Steam version. I could never pirate a Rockstar game. Thanks so much, I have booted the save and it works perfectly! Secondly (and more strangely) I can enter the skimmer and fly it without any issue? Do i need to patch VC myself? Before you ditch your save, mind checking what the crash address is? VC will display it in a tiny dialog box upon crashing (Alt+Tab to get to it) Sure. Just loaded the old one and here is the exception Note I haven't patched the game myself, I just assumed Steam would do it automatically! I can fly the skimmer after the mission however.... weird OK seems to be every time I fly within a mission. Happened again on the following mission. Hmmm, have been able to fly before perfectly fine (this time in a Sparrow) Edited October 10, 2014 by Jakee.
Silent
Odd. Almost seems like a random crash, apparently something messed up your FPU stack. These crashes are annoying to debug.

I am running the game on Windows 8.1 mind... like 4 OS's since Windows 98? haha. Crazy really that it still even works without Compat. Mode. But yeah the same stack trace is happening when i try to fly the sparrow in a mission. Annoying

Click the first "Settings" button (under the Performance section) 3.) Click the "Data Execution Prevention" tab 4.) Click the "Add" button and add both "gta-vc.exe" and "testapp.exe" to the list. 5.) Jakee.
The crash is not related to DEP. Hey, Since you have a grasp of what the issue is, would you care to share some information? I'd very much like to get this fixed if at all possible Thanks, Edited October 13, 2014 by Jakee. Silent
I was thinking to try and figure it out, but it seems pretty random. Definitely not DEP though. EDIT: For starters, are you 101% sure your game is clean? It could be because of a broken hangling file or so. Also, what EXE are you using? Absolutely positive, not touched the game in any way other than playing it I am using the exe provided through Steam. I assume that's the up-to-date version? Spuds725
I'm not going to begin to second guess people that clearly have knowledge of the ins and outs of the game (crashing and whatnot)--- but many people have reported issues with "water" missions over the years--- turning on the frame limiter resolved their issues (I don't recall it causing the game to crash but more like performance issues). Silent
Odd thing. Your game is NOT clean, as the EXE you are using is either 1.0 or 1.1, not Steam. Are you German?

Frame Limiter is enabled! It seems to be any mission that involves flying, flying the dodo and sparrow outside of mission is fine! Odd thing. Your game is NOT clean, as the EXE you are using is either 1.0 or 1.1, not Steam. Are you German? No Thinking about it, my save became corrupt and stopped working earlier on in the game and I had to download a save that was roughly at the same point in time. Could it possibly be that? Issue with my original save was it would say it was loading the save and be stuck on that for what seemed like it would be an eternity. I was unable to fix it
Silent
It sounds odd, but it's possible. Especially considering the fact you can use them outside of the missions just fine. If you want to be sure, download a save from before Dildo Dodo and check if it works.

I am now getting the same exception (0000005) when I attempt to boot the game. Edited October 18, 2014 by Jakee.

I really want to jump on and finish GTA Vice City - but I now get the same error when even trying to launch the game (whether it be from Steam or from the EXE directly) Sorry for the bump
Silent
As said, this crash literally makes no sense on Steam EXE. This HAS to be 1.0 or 1.1 EXE.
Jakee.
Decided to kit this issue once again, completely removed the game and reinstalled: (just to show it is steam EXE) And nothing. Same error. I am actually getting a similar error on Euro Truck Simulator now, when I check out the crash log I get: Exe base address: 00150000 Exception address: 56EC8B55 Exception code: C0000005 (EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION) Module file name: Err(0x0002) Address without base: BEEF0002 Which, strangely enough, is the exact same exception code I have with Vice City. is there something wrong with my computer here? -- edit Disabling DEP at least allowed me to play the game, now, however - every time I jump in any air vehicle I have the c000005 error code. Disabling DEP also made Euro Truck work, yay! Edited March 29, 2015 by Jakee.
Silent
Reset DEP to its default settings, that means Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only. Also, I'm really out of ideas then. I guess you'd have to give me your EXE file. EDIT: BTW. Exception code is irrelevant. Exception address is.
