the ironic one

You forgot about one more choice: "I love them all" ;) I can only tell you which one is my favourite. The word "worst" is something I can;t even think about in the context of GTA games. Yes, I'm a fanboy to the bone :)

GTA 5's Los Santos:

*no suburban sprawl outside of Mirror Park

*piss useless oil fields

*movie capital of America just 3 minutes away from buttf*ck meth country? I have a hard time believing that

And more reasons when they come to me.

San Fierro was kinda crappy, though from what I've heard, it was the last city in development, and thus it got rushed.

Nah nah nah Gta 6

San Fierro was just boring, there was nothing interesting about it, I'd rather goto Los Santos or Las Venturas (but no stupid pointless wanted level or ballas everywhere you go has to stop you).

If they revisited SF, it would probably be less sh*tty, I preferred GTA V's LS than the SA's LS, so maybe R* won't rush it.

By the way, a SF and LV DLC for GTA 5 will never happen, even for next gen...

It's not it takes ten minutes to get to the Countryside from Vinewood in GTA San Andreas. You just hate V.

That's a bold statement, claiming I hate GTA 5 and all. Can you back that up or are you just doing blind hate just because I pointed out a flaw?

Either way, this takes about 3 minutes to drive. It's the road I take the most anyway.

Definitely San Fierro due to it being buggy as well as not interesting. Then again, that's subjective. Making it my own personal opinion.

It's fine to just critisize the map but I think they did the best with what they could. It couldn't realistically be any bigger so what choice did they have? Not include the desert at all maybe but that would make the second half of the map entirely trees.

After thousands of hours dedicated to free roaming in those cities since 2002, I'd say the weakest is San Fierro ... But an average city in GTA is still better than a good city in any GTA Like !

It's not a bad city, there's a lot of different places to visit, hidden alleys and passages etc ... But, I don't know ... Something disturb me. First the weather system and the day/night cycle are god awful there, but I think the main reason is the overall atmosphere. I doesn't feel San Francisco at all.

However I admit that I'm impressed everytime I see the S.F. skyline from Tierra Robada !

Btw San Fierro hadn't been rushed because it was the last city to be developed, that rumor is just pure BS coming from GTA Wikia.

Definitely have to say the weakest city is San Fierro, it wasn't as interesting as the other cities in San Andreas, it could have been much bigger and had far more things to do.

What's with the oil derricks and the bigass mountain to the east of Los Santos? They could've had some more suburbs and stuff there, seeing as Los Angeles was known for it's suburban sprawl. Mirror Park's a joke.

I liked San Fierro the most out of the cities in SA. The one I find the worst is actually SA's Los Santos. What's San Francisco known for? The bay area, hills, and the Transamerica Tower. What's Las Vegas famous for? The strip with the multitude of casinos. What's Los Angeles known for? Hollywood for the most part. Sure, LS got the sign down, but where's the movie studio? All we got was a dinky little copy-paste of building from Vice City.

San Fierro was pretty weak. It would benefit greatly if it had its own game.

I'm that guy who voted for Vice City. It felt too narrow and clustered.

I'm surprised at the number of people who voted for Liberty City (GTA III). I consider that place to be legendary. I never get tired of revisiting it.

San Fierro was some weak sauce. I mean, it was great at first; but it becomes apparant that there's not much too it the more you play in SF. Can't wait until they do something with it in the up coming GTAs

I hated Vice City. HATED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Two islands, each two blocks wide and like, three blocks tall. Dafug???¿?¿?¿? That is NO CITY. THAT IS A ISLAND.

My favorite city is Las Venturas. I love how it always feels different. It feels as if it were blending into the desert, yet The Strip feels lifelike. You should really see the real Vegas Strip.

I loved San Fierro. I LOVE IT. I love taking my favorite offroaders and challenging them with San Fierro's steep hills, rain, and thick fog. I've been to the real San Francisco. Honestly, San Fierro is the most realistic version of it I've ever seen. Its got the Golden Gate Bridge, Lombard Street, that big radio tower, the Transamerica Pyramid, and the steep hills. The hills. Realistic.

My least favorite city would have to be Vice City. Those long, scrawny islands only served as a disappointment to me. I was hoping for a noticeably larger map than III's LC, but instead I got a city that felt narrow and clustered as already mentioned.

I disliked the HD Los Santos. Instead of making a small, but refined masterpiece (like Liberty City's grand makeover), they stretch the f*cking thing out and throw in tiny details in the most pointless spots. Sections that stick out on the map are bare and only blink-and-miss references or jokes keep roaming the city entertaining.

That's fair, but you'd still be 3 minutes from desert to city regardless and you'd still have the same problem.

Drunken Cowboy

San Fierro wasn't anything impressive, but all the sh*tty missions there really dragged it down. Maybe I'd remember it better if it wasn't the location of nearly every sh*tty mission in the game (building lung capacity, driving that pimp around, Caesar's bike courier chases, driving tests, RC battles.)

V's Los Santos is a gross vapid mix of a couple blocks of glitzy uptown and Hollywood, a couple blocks of the ghetto, and a couple blocks of urban decay. It doesn't have any character. As unmemorable as San Fierro was, it goes to LS.

gta v los santos in my opinion has no "soul". its like a plastic model filled with random npc's and cars. i dont feel anything and the atmosphere is not good at all.

gta 4 liberty city feels alive and has a great gritty atmosphere.

san andreas los santos feels like 90's los angeles with the whole gang culture but at the same time has a different feel in other neigborhoods like the beverly hills rich atmosphere in downtown.

las venturas had amazing atmosphere and was a hugely diverse city full of interiors and visual set pieces.

even san fierro might not have been the greatest city but it still felt unique and had interesting places, and fun streets that slope like the real san francisco

but los santos in gta v. generic city.

SA's Los Santos feels really... compressed. I know there's three cities in the game, but LV and SF did something to make it feel spread out. But with LS, just go to the Vinewood sign and see how close it is to the nearest building.

The ghetto's nice... but that's about it. It still brings back nice memories though, but looking back on it, it doesn't compare to the other cities in the franchise.

I feel like I'm one of the few people who liked San Fierro.

I like V, but for me the map just let it down. Los Santos doesn't even feel like a city, just a big suburb with a couple of tall buildings. I reckon R* should have opted for a smaller map, made Los Santos twice the size including Mirror Park, the Downtown area and the Hoods. (not Vinewood though, that place is big enough) And combined Sandy Shores with Paleto Bay, moving Chiliad out to the East in place of Mt Gordo.

Liberty City (GTA 4)

*First off, please note that, this is based on the free-roaming aspect, and also, the gameplay; putting the story aside*

After putting up over 100 hours; replaying the side missions, the usual driving and exploration, messing around with the cops, playing with the new mechanics and physics, killing people, and stuff. I always end up getting this feeling of something missing from the freeroaming aspects, despite the amazingly detailed world.

The city feels like a real world, but actually it seems like, its just for the sake of giving you an highly immersive experience. Its too grounded in reality, and gradually becomes extremely boring, due to almost no thought seems to be given towards pouring in more interesting things to do, that helps to get rid from the moments of boredom, and the same old, usual, tried and tested, formula like, cop chases, etc.

Once the first time experience of exploring every single detail of the city wears out, you are just stuck around driving aimlessly with all the mundane tasks the city has to offer.

It just feels an empty beautifully detailed sandbox world!

I know, they didn't pack the city a lot due to the new direction. STILL, they should've included more to replace the emptyness, with the solid gameplay fitting for the gritty atmosphere, too. By blending with the freeroaming experience, in some other creative ways.

Liberty City doesn't qualify for the kind of city, I'd be enjoying spending time outside the story for years to come.

I'm not the kind of player who returns to the city, playing GTA for the sake of atmosphere, and all the cool details, rather due to the sandbox nature as well.

The GTA fun! giving me a purpose to do more, and play around with the city.

I can't be bothered to be obsessed into the story for eternity.

Outside the story, Niko is just a boring character that gives the least amount of choices in the name of replayability.

So yea, Liberty City, since I don't expect myself to play just cruising around the city, that drastically limited the gaming options outside the story, compared to, around 1000 hours put into VC, and SA alone, over the years.

GTA V's Los Santos. It just didn't capture Los Angeles' vibe at all. Paralleling what Universetwisters has said removing the Palomino Highlands mountain range and the oil derricks and expanding lower class suburbs there it would make the city much larger. Furthermore expanding the map to the south east and creating an expy of San Diego (LA and SD are pretty close together) would have made the map 'fuller'.

Cheers.

I'm actually tempted to say V's Los Santos, I don't dislike it, it just isn't what it could have been. Everywhere feels too familiar, this is an area that I feel IV's Liberty City handled so well, as grey as the city was there were so many nooks, cranny's and rooftops that it was possible for even an experienced player to miss some of the city's interesting points.

Vice City suffered from a bit of a familiarity problem as well but the size was a factor in that plus the city encapsulated the 80's vibe so well that it didn't really matter.

I think, Liberty city seems more samey, for the most part. It feels like driving round in circles with little, to no interesting change, almost a concrete a jungle.

V - LS, feels quite better honestly, but that's just me.
