Why Going AFK in Missions is Acceptable

Joining missions knowing you won't actually play, and make money from other's playing is acceptable.

1. The other players will play the mission with or without you

2. If the other players can't stand to see you idle, they can vote to kick you, even though it won't make any difference as nobody else can join a mission in progress.

whenever I AFk I get inside my car and set it to No one. How you gonna kill me now? But either way I'm afk so I wouldn't care if I spectate.

I used to get upset at people that AFK, but now that there is a pay bonus for having extra people in missions I don't really give that much of a f*ck as it ends up benefitting me in some way.

I moved on to hating other things.

Cargobob to the Ocean/"deep" water. If you're AFK, you won't realize your air is depleted and it costs you Insurance. If lucky, those insurance costs will be about the same as the reward, resulting in 0 net gain in cash. RP is "useless" after 120~135, so that isn't a big deal if you get any...

So bitter, cool down bro. I always go somewhere that I am unkillable and unaffectable.

When ppl go AFK, I'll make the mission become a failure.

Cool. That'll teach them. Now just convince everyone to sacrifice their time and money instead of kicking the person out.

Gas Can then. Though, at this point, it's starting to drift from "Mission" to "Free Roam+Bonus Reward". If you're going to be so active, why not just do the mission?

Hiding in a safe place takes less than a minute...lol not nearly as active as playing the mission.

Go back to work slave.

If someone is afk and I have others along with me,I might complete the mission. But if the person teamkills and then afk,I am going to be flipping off his corpse until he left. (Which is the situation during pickup sticks where that one person won't get into the heli and everybody died trying to force him into the heli, excluding me.)

Nothing can affect your car when you're in it. It's undestroyable.

If that was true, then you could just roll an Entity backwards through the military base all the time. Enemy rounds still damage you, and for some reason, gasoline is considered "an enemy attack". I think you could also cargobob explosive tanks and the like, will test this later...

This is all stupid. Why go AFK anyway unless you have to? Free roam is lame. Missions can be lots of fun if you're not hosting a bunch of low levels. I enjoy most of them. Anyway, I do missions for fun. But if someone doesn't help, I kill them if I can, and if not, make sure the mission fails. Doesn't bother me any, I'll do it again and know for next time who's going to help so I can kick people early.

There has many times where i message them and they blow me off. At this point, i just quit if they aren't gonna contrbute because ill be damned if i let them make money on my behalf. R* needs to give the host all the power to just kick anyone so we don't have to deal with their lazy asses.

I must admit I did go AFK a few times during the rooftop rumble farming days as I was so p*ssed off to keep getting it. I hated all the pr*cks that would farm it.

Any other mission and it's unacceptable and I just quit the mission if it's just me and an AFK player. Lol at the people who say they run them over- they still get full pay so what difference does it make!?

Edit- damn right my ass is going AFK and making a sandwich/ bookmarking porn for later, if someone gets their buzzard. Pretty much pointless me even being there anyway.

It can make a difference - it depends on the mission start. If you started Rooftop Rumble and walked away then your character would most likely be killed, losing the team a life.

Besides, this is as blatant as all your other troll threads, so it doesn't matter.

Also the extra 5 minutes it would take to do this would secure you maximum payout for the mission. Brilliant.

I really don't care, I can complete all of the missions solo any way. Makes no difference if you AFK or not.

2 reasons:

1) when an asshole like you joins, you're taking up a spot that a player actually worth a damn could have filled

2)half the time, AFKs will die from some random enemy spawn, costing the 1 extra life we have, higher chance to fail.

When someone like you joins, I'll either mess around in the lobby until they get bored and leave, then finish the mission (usually just pull out my BMX, I could kill hours on that thing)

Or I'll just fail the mission if I don't feel like killing time. You don't get sh*t from me OP

The only way going AFK in a mission is acceptable is if another player is finishing the mission and is far to away for you to help them in time. Otherwise your just annoying.

Back in the days of Rooftop Rumble I would frequently just AFK, people lower rank would message me and I'd invite them and let them do it, they get access to a higher level, higher reward mission and I get free money whilst I'm on my pc or something, it's a win-win situation.

i don't worry about what other people do. like OP said, more players = more cash.

does the idle timer work on missions? maybe get the package/vehicle & not deliver until the AFKers get booted?

side note:

the other day I was doing a strike in Destiny. the 2 people playing with me were AFK/lost, so I set my controller down & took a shower.

i got back in time to shoot the boss a couple times & get my reward. #AFKedtheAFKers.

Sometimes you unfortunately have to round out your team with a random. If it turns out they are AFKers/Greifers we would usually just wait until close to the end of a mission and then kick, making them sit through the whole thing. Even if they waste a life, it's worth it. Not in favor of letting the host kick indiscriminately though, that could be easily abused as well. Iv'e got to say though most of the time we get good peeps who want to play.
