VolkXue
Seems like they take realism where it makes the game a pain in the ass, then keep unrealistic areas for things that make the game a pain in the ass (all seeing, all knowing cops as an example)

Ezza.
Realism, realism, realism. If I wanted to drive a car that handled "Realistically, with realistic damage" I'd go for a drive IRL. Everyone keeps comparing GTA IV to GTA V. Rockstar was focusing on realism in GTA IV, hence the car physics and damage. In V it looked like they were trying to get rid of some of the realism for a bit of.... fun? Those evil bastards
CarlitoDorito
Yeah the flying out the window thing is a bit annoying. How about press a button to put a seat belt on? optional, but gives you protection against window flying. matajuegos01, theGTAking101, LeonTheKiller and 1 other

donnits
Everyone seems to be talking down to the windshield cannon. I think IV did this great, it barely hurt you and you got to see the humorous ragdoll physics. V mostly just kills you instantly. IV's windshield cannon was also more consistent, you knew when you would fly out. V is very random, at least for me. I also LOVE the driving in IV, which people say is realistic. Realistic or not, i just find the driving physics allow me to have more fun, as it takes more brainpower. The main difference between IV's and V's realism is that IV knew where to be realistic and where to stay fun. Health and enemy AI is one of my main problem's with V's gameplay - it's just too realistic in that department. You can't go on epic shootouts like you could in IV. So yeah, realism can be good. It could also be bad. It just depends on where it's implemented. Just how i feel, though. theworldfamous
V is less realistic than IV. I think the impact of realism is for the better. It adds more weight to gameplay. But it's a fine line to walk. Realism should not get in the way of the action as in the end it's a relatively arcadey action game and not an RPG. That said I would still love to one day see that open world crime RPG that does have all the realism but GTA is not that game and the hardware wasn't there. It could be attempted now. I hope Mafia 3 is that game maybe. Edited October 7, 2014 by theworldfamous Kafonix, matajuegos01, Sergiu and 1 other

Osho
Flying out windshield is still totally lame, no matter how you look at it. What's the point, though? It just doesn't make any sense outside having an annoying effect. I remember in IV, you can't even drive on the airport runway without getting a high wanted level. Makes no difference of having runway there, or not, since you can't use it. In V, I feel they somewhat have toned down, quite a bit from IV, but added something new like, the turbulence effects. Though, I'm not so sure about whether some of the things are design choices ( due to some limitations ) or are meant to be like that for the sake of realism, like the NPC and Cop reactions, which result in wanted ratings for no clear reason. theGTAking101 and Lethal Vaccine
Cyper
Flying out of windshield is not realistic in any sense. First off, a cars front window can't be broken into pieces because of safety measures. Secondly, if you crash with no seatbelt on, there will only be a crack in the windshields glass with blood on it. My opinion on the issue: GTA V is a downstep in realism in many ways. It is no more than an appeal to the mainstream audience. The casual, stinking braindead gamers. CarlitoDorito
Some of the realism is good, the little things, the small details that seem pointless but they're there anyway. killahmatic
Positive in nearly every way. The things I dislike about V are the unrealistic things such as cops ramming your rear at 100mph, or cutting you off. Just follow me coppers and come on a chase. Yes, realism can go overboard, but thats only if the developer is ridiculous. I think every person here wants realistic handling, realistic sounds, movements, etc. Flying out of the windshield so many f*cking times in V: negatively Really? I've only had that happen a handful of times. Was a much bigger problem in IV. Gnocchi Flip Flops
ROCKSTAR MANIC
Well for me... The Satire approach is much Different apart from the 3rd era and Current era is indeed much different. In a such way that the 3rd era was more comical and the current is much more for the stereotype. Although both are not bad, the current is indeed in a deeper and more rich state of mind to fully understand its meanings.. Gnocchi Flip Flops
Vehicles just exploding rather than giving you a warning like IV. In what world is that considered realistic? Here's a fun fact: cars typically don't explode in the real world and when they do, it's in no way similar to the picturesque action movie/GTA car explosion. CarlitoDorito
I think dying quicker is seen as realism, the way people look, the un-saints rowness of it. The smaller details that make things seem like real life. Although it's not really that realistic, if you can drive a tank through a populated area without being arrested for real, then i wan't one. skydiving into the water and surviving, that's basically a super hero thing. If you wan't real, bullet wounds don't heal, bones break, you have to pay for car insurance and pay household bills, if you get run over it could break your back, leading to paralysis which lasts the whole game, you just wheel chair Trevor around. Kill one person and get arrested, then prison, if you escape you're hunted forever. That could be described as too realistic, GTA can't really. woggleman
Over all I think it is a good thing. In IV and V I feel like I am in an actual place while as great as the 3d era games are they still very much feel like video games except for maybe SA which dabbled in realism to some extent. They should just add am option in the pause menu on whether or not a character always wears a seatbelt so you can choose not to fly out the window, BLOOD
