Killing is Okay, Destroying Cars is Not?

What fundamental differences between killing players and destroying their personal vehicles justifies R* punishing only the latter action?

 

Killing causes players to potentially: lose money, lose ammo, and spawn in a different spot.

 

Destroying personal vehicles causes players to: call Mors Mutual Insurance, call their mechanic to bring it back to them.

 

To be clear my argument is that neither of these actions should be punished, not that both of them should be.

IDC. I love doing both. Never bad sported. Run around broke.

Regardless of how rare bad sport sentences are, we shouldn't have to even think about that being a possibility.

I went to Bad Sport during 1.15 for blowing up players in their cars.

After 1.16, when they changed that policy, it was great.

Then they brought it back in 1.17.

I can live with that, but messing with Passive Mode is where I draw the line.

They just yank you out of Passive Mode now. I got shot in the face the other day and the dude laughed at me. Pretty infuriating when the game pulled you out of Passive Mode and didn't tell you and then someone kills you and laughs.

Man. You explode 2 players at the same time and your entire television screen fills up with those black notification boxes.

First, Rockstar needs to tell me who I killed. Then, they need to inform me that my mental status is raising. Then, they need to tell me that I need to stop being a Bad Sport.

Then, they call my actual house to tell me there wasn't enough room on my television screen to tell me everything they had to tell me.

they gave us some freedom with 1.16 only to pull the leash again with 1.17...

 

bad sport for destroying PVs shouldnt exist.

 

they should keep that for people that quit jobs/races or people that destroy PVs and dont have the money to pay the insurance.

 

bad sport for destroying PVs is double punishment.

1.16 was, by far, the coolest update, just because they got rid of Bad Sport for blowing up personal vehicles if the owner was inside them.

yesterday i had to go afk for a minute and i when into a store and put passive like i always do.

 

to my surprise, i listen when a dude enter the store shooting, next thing i know, im dead.

 

i was like, mmm im sure i when passive...

1.16 was, by far, the coolest update, just because they got rid of Bad Sport for blowing up personal vehicles if the owner was inside them.

That's gone? Damn, I liked that one - in one shot it put an end tho the old "drive backwards in a PV with no rear-window" trick. Guess that will be coming back with a vengeance.

There are no absolute rules. It just does what it wants to.

The only thing you can do is press L1 to see if your weapon wheel comes up.

It sucks. It sucks a lot.

i honestly hate when im just enjoying driving my car and sharing cars in game with other people for one dick to come along screaming and yelling through the mic with his tank/jet. it really should be punished so should rapidly killing someone. Passive mode only lobbies need to be a thing soon.

Bad Sport has always been a terrible system. Remember the thread about the two level 100s spawn raping a level 6 with heavy snipers? That's perfectly fine, but sticky bomb a car that's chasing you down and OH NO, BAD GUY, YOU'RE BEING A BAD PERSON!!!!!

 

Rockstar's incompetence is laughable.

Admittedly, it's now a topic of discussion that might be worth considering. How long has it been, two months since we've seen any "game-breaking" money glitches? Let Rockstar prioritize their patches, and then maybe, just maybe, more time and resources will be devoted to some of these oddities.

f*ckstar likes to dictate how players should play the game.

That's even the case in single-player.

Remember back in GTA4 or Vice City or San Andreas when you could complete a mission any way you wanted, so long as the objective was completed?

In GTA5 you have to beat a mission exactly the way they tell you.

I think there's a timer, but sometimes it goes off randomly. Sometimes when I get out of a car, it turns off. Other times, it stays on. Sometimes, I'll enable passive mode and immediately after that the countdown for it to be turned off appears.

 

It's screwed up.

The online element of this game is designed to suck your GTA$ from you.

 

The biggest ways of doing so:

 

• Buying a car and upgrading it to the maximum, spending far more than you paid for the car...

• Selling that car and getting a fraction of the money you put into back.

• Destruction of personal vehicles. whether someone else's or your own.

• Being murdered by cops with just a one-star wanted level. The cost of medical bills is ridiculous.

• Bounties, muggers, and mercenaries. These are emotion-based reaction services designed to spend your GTA$. Ever have one fail? Exactly.

• Joining jobs. You do know that when you join a job you're charged a fee, right? Right? Yeah.

• I could keep this list going for house, but you get the overall point: the game is designed to make you need more money to keep playing. Yes, it's about cash cards.

GTA0 should have a hair trigger that dumps players into Bad Sport just as soon as they start acting like an asshole, killing or harassing other players. Bad Sport should consist of a continuous 5 star wanted level.

The distinction lies in that there is innate incentive to kill players by way of gun skins and KDRs. There is absolutely no reason to destroy an unoccupied PV and there is no inherent reward for doing so. Hence the latter action is seen as unnecessary and falls within the "bad sport" category, whereas the earlier is a rewarded part of the game and therefore goes unpunished.
