Nah, he just took over the vocal duties after Peter left, when Steve left the band finally went all pop-rock.

 

There's good stuff post-Gabriel, to me Selling England By The Pound and A Trick Of The Tail are the best albums that Genesis ever released, latter without Peter Gabriel. And the pop stuff they did in the 80's wasn't bad, Genesis and Invisible Touch are good albums, but the only problem here was that they kept doing the music under the same old name. I guess it's the same issue with Pink Floyd, post-Waters albums in my opinion are great. Musically. To me the band was in some way stronger without Waters and his daddy issues that ruined The Final Cut and half of The Wall. People just want to think that they are nothing without Waters, which is funny considering that I find AMLOR and The Division Bell much better albums than anything Roger Waters ever recorded as a solo artist.

 

Enough about British prog-rock groups already?

 

Back on topic: the next-gen things don't interest me since I have no intention of buying a new console to play one game. I already bought the PS3 and a TV on the release day of GTA V. Maybe I'll reconsider the PS4 in the future but no backwards compatibility pisses me off, since I got GTA IV and the episodes, Red Dead Redemption&Undead Nightmare and a few other games that I'd like to play too.

More 80s-ish "rock".... Why.

 

Isn't Los Santos Rock Radio supposed to be the classic rock radio, much like LCRR was in GTA IV or K-DST was in GTA San Andreas? Why is there so much borderline-pop crap from the 80s, that very special age when rock music started to become invaded with poorly used synthesizers and formatted for morons?

 

Sorry, but the music selection in V pisses me off so much. It's a game set in a replica of California, it was the home of rock in America during the 60s and 70s: They could have added The Doors, Jefferson Airplane, The Eagles, etc - But instead we get preposterous crap like what OP posted. The only two songs in the entire radio I really enjoyed were Odgen's Nut Gone Flake and Baker Street, everything else was either "meh" or "just... no" for me. Hell, there were even some great bands and artists, like Queen, Stevie Nicks, Dobbie Brothers, etc, but it's like they purposely got some of the worst songs to define their works.

 

I was hoping they were going to actually give us classic rock now that they are adding more music, but I guess that's wanting way too much. Not like I should give too much of a damn about it either, at this point I pretty much put on headphones and listen my own music when playing.

I like Asian music. I don't see why we can't have Chinese songs in the game. We already have Spanish music in GTA Online, so adding non-English music is definitely not an out of the blue idea.

Eh, Channel X is a punk rock station. They really messed up with the choices for that station though.

 

They need the punk rock songs from the Tony Hawk and Skate series. Skateboard games have always chosen the most awesome punk rock. "Amoeba," one of my favorite songs on the station, was actually in THPS3.

 

Too bad the station's theme is west coast punk rock... Ohhh well, Los Angeles had a massive punk scene back in the 70's and 80's, so the choices are endless.

So far, all I have seen said is Phil Collins this or that, I've watched some terrible modern rap and then a couple of oriental irritating tunes.

 

There are many reason surrounding why we can't have some better music, and that's mainly down to what the artists and record companies say. Some may be greedy and ask for lots of money. The game is essentially promoting their music. I remember when The Chain Gang of 1974 had a very small following, then this game brought them riches.

 

I believe I have a good list of artists which many agree would make the audio experience for this game much better. These are just artists across genres. Some are already in the game but we need more of the good stuff.

Needs more Crue, Def Leopard, still can't believe KISS is not in there. Over all, needs more rock. and yes Phil Collins is a great song writer, but he is a terrible singer with little to no emotion and zero stage presence, most of his songs are flat out booring and sad to listen too. Would much rather have some Tom Petty at least he could play.
