Mineward Spiral offroad race glitch?

I'm currently working my way through a game on the PS3, and after completing the first two offroad races as Trevor the third (Mineward Spiral) was unlocked. However, every time I approach the quarry to start it, the icon (and other mission icons) disappear from the map! Only to reappear when I've backed away a certain distance, but which means I can never do the race, which is required for 100% completion (as are three races unlocked after it).

 

I've tried:

 

-Reloading

-Reloading my previous save (I always keep my two most recent)

-Approaching during the times the race is available

-Approaching on foot

-Approaching while already on an ATV

-Doing a few more missions then coming back to it

-Redoing the previous offroad races already done

-Approaching the quarry from different directions

 

Also I haven't activated any cheats or anything, which I know could introduce glitches in previous games.

 

To be honest my only hope left is that it is somehow resolved after Michael and Franklin come back into the game (they're currently "lying low" after the jewel store robbery), no way I'm starting again having gotten this far in (32%), especially without guarantee it won't happen again.

 

Just wondering if anyone has had the same problem with this race or if it's a known glitch or anything?

Okay feeling like a bit of a tool now...

 

The one thing not in my list of things I tried was doing the first bail-bond mission, which i'd activated earlier but forgotten about as I intended to do them later. The first fugitive happened to be hanging out in the quarry, so once I'd been and dealt with him, I was able to do the race that started in the same location.

 

The above is essentially for the benefit of anyone who finds themselves in this situation and Googles their way to this thread while looking for answers, since the game doesn't make it clearly obvious on-screen.
