I don't exactly see a video game such as this as social media, but I see what you are getting at. I really think it's all about how you approach others if you want to connect with them. Like I will message or call them on the mic (I've also had others do that to me). You can also try talking to/messaging them and then invite them on a mission to "take them on a test drive." Dropping some cash from a robbery or armored truck always helps too. You can't just play passively in hopes that others will abide by your wishes. It's not going to ever happen. I hate to say it, but everyone has their own right to play their own way. Keep in mind that I've also befriended others that have or attempted to grief me. So it's not always bad. I'm not going to hate on others that want to pick on me though because I've been on both ends of that situation (and I enjoy that style of play). It keeps things interesting. If I don't want to be bothered, I really do go into private lobbies or play missions only because that's my choice to do so. Edited October 6, 2014 by rharri02

Not really, if they want to go around doing that all the time, they can, but I find it to be pretty boring after a bit. I just laugh more than anything. The other day I finished a Mission, and was brought back to Free Roam. Someone spawned right next to me with the Night Suit on. I slowly walked over and saluted him, only to watch as he brought up his Heavy Shotgun and blasted me away.

On a semi side note: the dumbest thing I've ever had happen to me was when I killed a bounty and he got angry and messaged me asking why I killed him and why I didn't ask his permission to do so... Does that really need justification? Some people just have the nerve or lack there of. Anyways, he got another bounty immediately after that ;-)

There is nothing more fun that throwing in a gas grenade at a clothes store or Ammu-Nation and pull out the ol' auto shotgun and kill someone who is trying on underwear.

 

Or to use a minigun to shoot down some little chickens playing around with a cargo bob.

Public Free Mode should be renamed as Bully Mode.

 

It's filled with bullies and they don't care about you, they only care about themselves and if you can't cater their fun, you have to leave. Typical school bullies way of thinking. Some people need to seriously grow their brains.

Finally, somebody who gets it. Thank you, good sir. We really need the friendly fire lobby mode again, like in GTA IV. Besides the stupid f*cks that would spam with rockets, GTA IV was a lot more peaceful.

 

 

@Luisniko: I hate getting killed out of the blue as much as the next guy, but if you say that these people are in the wrong for forcing you, a player that has every tool to not be in that situation, to play their way and that they only care about themselves..what does that make you and all the people that use this argument? Are you not trying to force your playstyle onto them? So in turn you only care about your fun.

 

@Evil: Yes a passive or PVE lobby would help...but until R* adds more things to do in this game, PVE wise during freemode, I don't think we need it. As many have stated before Invite only/Crew/Solo are the best options to do something without having to deal with the general populace.

 

Some things that could help with the butthurt:

1) Limit the weaponry we can carry. (though some may not like this)

2) Limit the amount of ammo war machinery has (tank/Jet/ Lil bird)

3) Put a cooldown on the call tank (and buzzard) for Pegasus/ Make Lester's Cops turn a blind eye not effect Military personnel. (Getting these should take time or extreme effort.)

4) Allow players to earn rep when fighting cops and other NPC gang members in free roam (outside of gang attacks).

5) There needs to be greater rewards overall to working together, as it stands a group of people and a lone wolf (outside of missions) are practically the same.

 

I know I veered off into a wishlist tangent, my apologies overlord Z, but to have people stop fighting each other we need to limit what we can kill each other with, Increase Co-op scenarios outside of missions, but most importantly do both. If you only do one it will get boring very quickly.

 

(Disclaimer: All of this is personal opinion, and in fact I may just be full of hot air and bluster, but I do think that doing these things could only help in the long run.)

The best ones are the ones who try and kill while your on foot, they are in a car, you shoot, they die and quick combat roll out of the way, then plant a sticky bomb on their car and wait.

 

For revenge killing I will use whatever weapons I have at the time I picked up from survival, minigun, RPG etc.

 

Fair play to those after a game of darts, golf and we walk away win or lose and don't kill.

today i had a couple of players who kept griefing me after i drove back into los santos in my matt black merryweather mesa, (they kept killing me) and didn't do anything to deserve it, nothing i did done any good, (i voted to kick both of them, i put a bounty on one but obviously his friend collected it, i called the cops on them and i sent the mercs after them, i reported both of them for griefing, i did finally make it to my apartment, when i called the mercs (my first try they told me my services with them has been revoked (wtf??).

after made to my apartment i got the error message "unknown network".

Hmm interesting list. I agree with 3,4, and 5 for sure. 1 and 2 however, people paid their gta$ for the stuff so they shouldn't have access restricted. The cooldown meter makes sense though. Yeah, if there was more co op stuff to do together in free roam, it might help with the monotony a bunch instead of people just getting into random firefights non-stop.I think it's just the boredom mainly that contributes to all the killing in free roam.

and playing with random ppl in general on current gen sucks anyway. in the beginning when just a few ppl had it it was fun (on ps3 atleast like the early cod4 commity) but after some years when all the bums and brats get a ps3/x360 all the fun is over. im hoping the playerbase on next gen isn't fck up yet when gta comes out.

GTA IV, and RDR both had friendly fire off free roam sessions that worked well and made the game a ton better for a lot of players and didn't affect the people that didn't want to use it. It's because people rarely actually suggest these kind of sessions, they just want to be in regular free mode and not be f*cked with, which will never happen. Personally, I want 2 session types: a "before we baby-proofed everything" lobby and a "current rules" lobby. People who need their pretty pictures on the radar can have that and those who actually want to play the game can have that. It would be win-win.

There are a lot of solutions to "Bullying" in GTA.

 

First off, find a new session. Pretty simple. Sometimes you get out numbered and there really isnt much you can do about it. Just find a new session.

Secondly, Join a Crew. Take note of the crew that is fu*king your sh*t up and come back with some back up.

Third, as stated above and really only an option for the biggies of pu*sies, move to a solo or invite only lobby.

Fourth, you just might not be cut out for thug life, check out Farmville or another similar game and eat a d*ck while you're at it.

So are RDR and GTA IV but they both had "friendly fire off" sessions.

 

Really if R* did the friendly, normal, hardcore sessions from RDR everyone would win and these threads wouldn't exist. Until then I agree that you have to man up and play the game how they made it but wanting a more cooperative experience doesn't mean we want a different game.
