How unplayable has the game become?

Unplayable.

 

And by that, I mean unplayable.

 

My game will not even load post 1.16. And before anyone asks:

 

 

• Yes I've unlinked my SC account
• Yes my disc is like new. No scratches whatsoever
• Yes I've done a System Restore, rebuilt database, formatted drive
• ^ twice
• Yes I've deleted gamesaves/game data and reinstalled the game and all 12 patches.
• ^ twice
• Yes I have a good wired internet connection

And the game still gets stuck on the eternally rolling loading screen. All my other (30+) games work fine. I quietly hoped that 1.17 would fix it, but well, who was I kidding?

There is nothing I can do except give up on this broken crock of a game that I've ran trouble-free since launch.

Have you forwarded ports to your console or put it in the DMZ? Not trying to be a smartass here but that really helped me earlier in the year when I was struggling to stay online. Though your issue does sound worse admittedly.

Yes - the 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. inputs? Yes, had to do that to download 1.17.

 

Which in itself is a major ballache isn't it?

This game is So unstable it's ridiculous!!

 

My typical experience is...

 

Load up.... go make a cup of tea (remind me of the old speccy games in load length)

 

when I get started, I join a few races.... after about 30 minutes I want to leave to put the money in the bank....

 

Get Stuck in the clouds for at least a minutes or two.. then booted off for an UNKNOWN NETWORK ERROR.

 

I load online again.....

 

As soon as I hit the apartment I get disconnected again... it will be like this until I restart the whole game...

 

Load number two...

 

go online and surf facebook while waiting...

 

Get back online...

 

Do another few races and get Disconnected again.....

 

Repeat and wash!

 

After three fresh loads.. I gave up as a bad job and played another online game that actually works!

tbh the only thing that's bugging me is the flaming mini-freeze when I pull up the mini map..

 

I actually think the new updates been hilarious... Got a few really low level characters and the new weapons (specially the auto shotgun) really do give people an unpleasant surprise.

It's always playable. Servers have not been taken down as far as I know. Only during maintenance, I guess...

The point being that other online games actually work as they should. Kind of proves the blame lies with R* servers - anyone who says otherwise has blinkers on I'm afraid.

I experience it sometimes but not that often and its only ever reached unplayable once where the lag wouldn't stop.

huge lag spikes, the game freeze for like 2 seconds everytime someone leave the lobby, freeze for 1 second everytime i check the players list, lots of pop in and ofcourse my new best friend the unknow network error.

 

on the other hand the game seem to be loading faster.

what model of PS3 or Xbox 360 do you have? My game is running smoothly on XB360 slime

The unknown network error used to fuq my nerves for a while

 

turned out that this issue went on our internet provider. Me, my brother and a friend of us all had the same issue. We don't live in the same house but we do live close to each other, nobody could play for longer than about 10 minutes without getting an unknown network error.

 

 

 

Every time I expand the map on screen the game in whatever mode I'm in freezes for a moment.

 

It's funny it's got worst now when the current gen versions are coming soon

this problem exists for about a year... no conspiracy going on here

The mini map freeze lag is new since 1.17. At least its now bad enough to make you crash when checking splits to other drivers in races. That's something that has not happened before.

What GTAO needs to adopt is what RDR does when you time out or have a network error, look for another god damn lobby instead of taking us out to single player and having to wait forever to reconnect.

 

RDR times out of lobbies too but the downtime is so low and when you actually find a lobby more than likely your good for as long as you want.

 

Also I'd like to add that jobs are not as bad as free roam.. free roam in GTAO is ridiculous

not necessarily a play issue but crap nonetheless... Running people over in missions counts as a pvp kill... Tard ammo if there ever was...
