I don't get how people keep buying into Rockstar calling the online multiplayer game mode of GTAV free. It's not. You HAVE to come out of pocket $60 to play it.

Well if GTA:O truly was "free" why can't I download it from the PSN store for free like other F2P titles? Because, you know, it's not free...

It is free.

After you pay $60 to access it...

Paid £42 which is typically the full price for any new game. Have not paid a single penny since then. Servers are free to play on, no paid DLC.

As I said before, you paid for GTA:O by buying the GTA V disk. If it was free, you wouldn't need to buy V to play it. Good for you if you think its free though. You're only bluffing yourself.

I played for the fist time in a couple of months for a few hours earlier, the game seemed to run somewhat smoother. It's hard to put a finger on what changed exactly, although that might of been placebo as I've been playing other games, however, I'd continuously get 1-2 second freezes every so often. Pop-up was also an issue, I don't remember it being so bad (I very rarely experienced it). Another issue I had was that an area hadn't rendered fully. Didn't have any notable connection issues other than I had a about 10 time-outs when trying to switch character.

As for whether the game is free or not, I used to be on the 'It's free!' side, however, I've since changed my stance, you have to buy GTA V to play it therefore it's not free. It uses the same map as V and game mechanics, it's essentially GTA V multiplayer regardless of what Rockstar wants to call it. If they put it on the PSN Store for free, then fair enough. They won't though, it makes them too much money. How many people would buy V again on the PS4/One if they could just download Online for free? Very little is the answer.

The game itself is a masterpiece. Best online game for the generation! (I haven't had any freezing issues for months)

I just got bored and playing other games now, at least until they release a decent DLC

Heh "masterpiece", or not...

Cry babies should learn to install both discs seperatly after the initial installation and clear cache BEFORE everytime they update to a new DLC and soon they will realize all their performance dips are gone.

For now, I only get the slight freeze when pushing the down arrow to see who is in the current session. Other than that, I haven't any other kind of freeze.

Since you're mentally impaired, Rockstar also said they were being delayed. Funny how you'd forget that part.

I've been experiencing far lesser matchmaking and connection related issues ever since 1.17 dropped. The time out quick join glitch seems to happen way lesser now, that's neat as well.

I have the freeze and unknown compatible isuses. It's gotten so bad I can only play a few min. before it happens. I love this game but I am ready to give up, it's unplayable for me.

Sometimes the map takes nearly 10 seconds to open, lots of hang time, buildings/roads are non-existent, I could go on forever. Over the past 4 months I haven't really been playing because of these issues and how boring the game has become. I usually load up GTA Online and drive around for maybe 5 minutes before I get bored. Its a shame GTA Online is dead.

With the amount of extra slowness they have been installing into every "upgrade" lately I'm wondering if they are doing that on purpose too. it starts to make the ps4 option look worthwhile.

Every time I go from online to singleplayer it loads infinitely so I have to restart every single time I try going online and it tells me I could not connect and sends me back to freeze in singeplayer. Just happened twice now, maybe I will enjoy this game as some point today but not now. Honestly, playing this game is an endeavor

*edit* third times the charm, got online, wanted to change the color of my sultan, went into garage, it unloaded, can't get out.

It's not unplayable, just more noob friendly. It all started with the rage-meter mental state mechanic from the Hipster update. All the sudden we've got tank icons, now in the most recent one - air vehicles have their own hud identification. Now the game makes being an aggressive player actually more difficult. I won't be caught off guard by a tank, rounding the corner again. Not that I miss it, but it was part of the challenge. That fear going into your heart and you freaking out for a second, "Oh sh*t! How will I get out of this!"

I'm going to try deleting and reinstalling the whole game sometime this week. I think the stacking of updates and connection issues downloading them causes some of the problems many are experiencing. I'll come back to this thread if it's still here to report my findings.

Finding the start of 1.17 much better than the start of 1.16 (although I did drop from the same Public Lobby I was trying to play with a friend in 4 times last night)...In 1.16 I was unable to play Deathmatches or Missions with other players without getting Kicked to being by myself for the first two weeks after the Update.

It's much better than it used to be, at least for me so I voted no. Sure it's not perfect but it's still better.

Anything overused can get boring over time, your favourite song, sex, a particular kind of food, you can't continually rinse something out then complain you are bored of it......take a damn break or don't play for 20 hours straight

It's funny seeing level 300s saying they are bored.....OFCOURSE YOU ARE!

I knw gta is awesome but MODERATION

Paid for single player, not online. Other games that are release retail for the same price, even if they don't have an online element to them. There is no pay to play on their servers.

I turned my ps3 on this morning and it read the disk and I did a survival. So this is a false statement.

Unplayable.

And by that, I mean unplayable.

My game will not even load post 1.16. And before anyone asks:

  • Yes I've unlinked my SC account
  • Yes my disc is like new. No scratches whatsoever
  • Yes I've done a System Restore, rebuilt database, formatted drive
  • ^ twice
  • Yes I've deleted gamesaves/game data and reinstalled the game and all 12 patches.
  • ^ twice
  • Yes I have a good wired internet connection

And the game still gets stuck on the eternally rolling loading screen. All my other (30+) games work fine. I quietly hoped that 1.17 would fix it, but well, who was I kidding?

There is nothing I can do except give up on this broken crock of a game that I've ran trouble-free since launch.
