Would you be willing to pay for limited-time DLC?

As the topic states, would you be willing to pay for the limited-time DLC released in prior special updates?

 

Reason I ask, I was recently looking for a method to acquire the Valentine's DLC clothing, and apparently the only way to do it was by performing the character appearance glitch, which has since been patched with 1.17. Well, I'm not a fan of glitches, especially anything that requires 20 or 30 steps to complete, but I am the sort of person that might be willing to pay $5 or $10 for those items. Personally, I missed out on the Christmas and Valentine's Day items because I put the game away after losing my character twice last Fall, and I only started playing the Online portion again since last March.

 

Is there something you're missing from any of the previous specials, ie. Christmas, Valentine's Day, Independence Day, that you wished was still around and would be willing to actually purchase? Those that already own those items, would it bother you if other players used real money to acquire them? Think about it, you acquired the items for free, while your counterparts have to actually pay for them. Fair deal, no? Thoughts?

 

I believe COD Ghosts did this with an exclusive camo only given to those who pre-ordered the game, the spectrum camo. Then about 10 months later, Infinity Ward made it available for purchase as a micro-transaction.

Only if it's worth it. $5+ for a gun is stupid. Or $30 for an expansion pack. Now if it's like $10 for a load of stuff, then sure.

I think those who actually own the cars and vehicles should be able to sell them for real cash to those who want them. Adding any more of these rare things to circulation would diminish their rarity.

The point of them being limited is so people play when they're present

If they weren't limited then there was no point to go thru all the trouble of acquiring them in the first place

It sucked hunting crates it sucked saving up millions to put towards Roosevelts and the limited clothing

It would completely ruin all that by puting something like that out

This stuff took hours to get it wouldn't be fair to just put it up for sale

I'm not talking about the items from crates. I know very well what it was like to search hours upon hours attempting to acquire those dumb beer hats. I'm referring to the items that were easily available in "stores" during the specials. I also understand the Roosevelt cost a lot of GTA money; GTA money that you earned with your own time and effort, but honestly, how different is that than providing cash cards for sale?

Because cash cards can be bought at any time the Roosevelt was marketed as limited which made some people grind or by cash cards

Now what if someone bought a cash card to by a Roosevelt thinking it was limited then it got put into a paid dlc

That person would be getting tricked by false marketing which happens to be illegal

It's even bad for the grinders because they basically wasted they're time

Well, that's a good point, but on that note, I'd say the Roosevelt would need to be priced at an equivalent in GTA to US dollars. Say for clothing items, which is what I'm really interested in, amount to GTA$ 100k = $3 in US dollars. I'd be willing to pay that amount, maybe even a premium of $5 or $10 like I stated earlier.

 

That would still bother you?

Here's the thing. These "update" that R* has been releasing..... I personally wouldn't pay a dime for any of them (since I don't support DLC in this form).

 

But if I were the type to buy DLC, than I would put a $1.99 price tag on each of these update. I know that doesn't correlate with what you're talking about. But maybe that could give you some idea how much I would be willing to pay for 1 vehicle (maybe $0.50).

 

btw, when I write "DLC in this form"... what I mean is DLC that has already been created and ready to put into the game OVER a year ago, before the game was even initially released.

Do i feel that they should make this an option along with the collectors items? Of course they should. Would i buy anything from the previous stuff or the collectors? Just probably the Hotknife and Carbon RS to add to my bike and classic car collection.

 

At this point i wouldn't mind paying for DLC/content "IF" it's major content like Storymode, Heists, Map expansions, Casino, Mission creator, and etc. I think it's only fair because R* gave us alot of stuff that we could've had to pay for.

Not if all I have too do is have patience and wait till that holiday comes back around. I would only pay for a significant update (dlc) that drastically alters gameplay, from map expansions, new story elements not just cosmetic appearances.

I think that if they ever do do something like this they should wait and make it the final dlc

A dlc containg every limited item over the span of the whole game

Not just the dlc items eather I mean everything the crate drop shirts the weekend event shirts the collecters editon stuff

At that point it wouldn't matter cause most people would be getting ready to abandon the game anyway

I missed out on all Christmas, Valentines and Independence Day DLCs which is a tough luck on my part but the only thing I can hope is if they re-introduce them again in their respective dates during the following year

I would pay a reasonable price for an expantion pack, like other members have already said. Though, it must be something worth having. A full version of North Yankton for example. With a few new vehicles (that aren't supers), but vehicles more suited for that location. Snow plough, snowmobil, etc. Perhaps new aircraft too. But who knows... North Yankton would be brilliant to have as a DLC.

I love how people always assume this without the slightest shred of proof, or even the foggiest notion as to what the actual legal precedents are for something like that. If that were the case with video games, then everyone who'd ever bought an exclusive "pre-order" bonus which then became available to everyone six months down the line would have a case in court. The fact of the matter is that that's totally false, and you wouldn't have a leg to stand on. You'd be laughed out of court for being a dumbass and not reading your EULA.

 

R* can do whatever the hell they like with the content of this game. It's their property, and you are merely leasing a licence to play it. I'd like to point you in the direction of the utter raging dickheads who thought they were clever and attempted to bring a class action lawsuit against R* for not releasing heists when they advertised that they would.
