meeting Michael/Trevor/Franklin in free roam RANDOMLY

Hey guys I have a question that's been bothering me for a while. I know that in free roam you can switch between characters to have them meet at a location but this requires constant switching to make sure they don't dose off and such but is it actually even possible to meet them randomly without switching back and forth repeatedly. For instance I'm playing as Michael and while walking the streets of Blaine county I encounter Trevor by complete random chance, no switching to Trevor prior to the meetup. I know San Andreas has like a million pedestrians but if this is actually possible had anyone actually done it???

Do the characters actually move around and have life when you aren't controlling them as R*claims? I know when you switch to a character they're doing something but it's ALWAYS the same variety. Either Michael's watching movie or walking down the street surrounded by prostitutes. In sure there are others but my point I'd they are scripted to be one of 5 choices or so.

I hope with next gen hardware the characters not being played can have actual paths and errands to run while not playing them and you'd be able to run into them by complete chance if you were just free roaming.

What do you guys think?

Also it'd be cool if you're blowing sh*t up with your tank and you find out Trevor was amongst the crowd (you just obliterated) simply because you received a text from him telling you to pay for his medical operations. You never saw him but if you could rewind you'd see Trevor in the distance.

You can actually find Trevor during free roam as Michael or Franklin, without forcing him to appear at a certain spot via character switching. There's a chance that he will spawn in the front yard of his trailer along with Ron and, for whatever reason, he'll be drinking a bottle of Pisswasser and chucking grenades at a spot in his front yard. The cops and pedestrians don't react to the explosions at all, strangely enough.

There's no other ways of finding the protagonists without forcing them to spawn through character swapping, as far as I know. Maybe it's possible to find Michael and Franklin near/inside of their houses as well, but I haven't witnessed that yet.

GTA V Is On PC

I doubt that they will live out their lives when you are not around. Most likely you will find them at certain areas of the map at times, but i'm guessing you won't see Trevor wanting to move during rush hour, or Franklin walking Chop down the street.

Yep, I saw this too. At first I thought it was a glitch. Trevor won't re-act like he usually does and he doesn't ask the player if he wants to hang out, he'll just ignore them.

I'm pretty sure, that I met Trevor one time randomly on a street (while driving), I drove and thought "That car that I just saw on the other side of the road was Trevor's Bodhi". So I turned my car, and when I arrived right behind him he stopped the car and talked to me about drinking something together.

What I don't know is when did I play Trevor before.. maybe it wasn't that long before and coincidentally I was in the same area with him... I'm not sure about that, happened to me last year.

That's usually the case with me, I forget I put a character there and I get bummed out when I forget it wasn't chance

I also thought about this. I don't think that you can actually meet on the street, not happened to me. But then again, San Andreas is big and the chance to bump into them is small.

I wonder if there are people who actually met them randomly?

Only Trevor, as far as I know. Michael is usually a homebody, but if you head to his house looking for him, before you switch to him, he won't be at home, and his switch scene when you do switch will be with him somewhere else. This has happened every single time I've tried it.

I've bumped into Franklin before playing as Trevor, Just drove down a street and heard Franklin say "Stop following me" or something like that. It wasn't a forced meet at all, it was just at random.

This is pretty rare i believe, a few questions:

1.Did you played as Franklin prior the switch?

2.Did you just hang out with Franklin or Trevor prior the meeting?

3.Did you do a mission close to the area?

Of course this happened when I first got the game, I assure you it was by chance that this happened. I've even seen in other thread when the game first came out that people said that they bumped into other protags while free roaming, somebody if I recall right said that they saw Franklin in a backyard of a house by random chance.

That's pretty cool, so they patched it i guess, and now it's impossible or very rare to meet them. Don't know why they would patch it tho, i mean if it's by change then what's wrong?

Once, I switched to Michael and switched back to Franklin (they were nowhere near each other Frank was in his house and Mike was in his) suddenly Michael was walking outside Franks house. I think this was a glitch.

Michael, Trevor and Franklin should have there own minimap icon so you can see where they are at all times

I got cut off by Trevor outside of his garage when I was Franklin.

I caught up to him and put a sticky bomb on his truck.

That would be cool, yes.

And I think it would also be a good thing, when EVERY known character of the game could spawn randomly in traffic or on foot, when you are somewhere. Not so often, but it should happen sometimes, that you bump into one of the FIB agents or that weed legalizer guy and a have a small conversation with them.

Sorry for bumping but strange thing happened to me today.I was searching for Stag Do Running Man random event with Michael, and when it popped up to me,I switched to Trevor to try get the random event with him and deliver the guy to the Altruist Cult(later I found out that he cant be delivered to them).I went to the place with Trevor, and on the road I saw Michael's car on the same place where I switched characters,I thought some guy just stopped in the middle of the road, but when I got back to the car I saw its the car I used with Michael, then Michael himself got out of the car,and said something of the sort - "Trevor, what the f*ck you doing here?",and then I was asked to press E to accept Michael's invitation for meeting,or Q to decline it.I'm not sure if its a bug,but as I described, its possible to meet characters in free road if you switch between them after a random event has popped up for one of them.

I've done this a number of times to get around the time limits applied by calling people to hang out. Getting all three protags to the downtown LS Ammunation, as you can stick them in there just far enough apart to not trigger the meeting, can be a little difficult, but does work. If only there was a way to do this when, for example, you're already hanging out with Lamar (when playing as Franklingaling). I'd love to get 4 characters together, fill a car properly, but it's just not possible as far as I can see (as once you're hanging out with someone, you can't switch anymore.)

You have to make sure the last person to enter Ammunation (or whatever your meeting point is) is the one you actually want to control, so you can trigger the meetings with the right character.

Yeah, as mentioned above it's possible to encounter Trevor in front of his trailer at night, he's drinking beers and throwing grenades on his front yard (killing time, I guess, heh). Other than that you can only meet them through character switches at the right moment AFAIK.

Btw. has anyone else ever thought about the possibility of playing a co-op singleplayer campaign with 2 other players (one player for each main character)? I'm not sure it could be modded (probably not), but man, that would be awesome. ^^

The idea is great but it seems tgat most game developers have ditched the good old split screen gameplay for online mode...

I didn't really mean splitscreen, I meant on-line coop for the singleplayer storymode campaign, a sort of an online mode for three players only, where every player would tend to their character's storyline. I guess it probably wouldn't work too well, since Trevor for example doesn't have any story missions to do until the Jewel Store Heist. Then after that he has to do a bunch of missions before the other two characters progress with their storyline. Also many small complications like all three players must be present to play at once, it would also certainly be necessary for most missions to be triggered by multiple characters at once, so you'd really need a cooperative group of players, or you'd never progress anywhere. Then again since you'd only need two other players for this 'co-op campaign' I guess it could work in theory. It would also be funny at the end if the Franklin player chose option A or B and decided to kill off on of the other players. It would def make sense, since the game has three main protagonists.
