Why is it that my avatar always takes what seems like forever when trying to get up from a fall? I understand - getting hit by a moving car or falling off a cliff might knock the wind out of you -- but in a life or death situation, you'd think our avatars would try to get up with a little more haste.. you'd think that, if we're being shot at by a group of people and being chased that, even thru injury, our avatar would scramble to get into cover or something.

Instead, i find myself laying face first on the ground for 20 seconds after tripping down a mountain or getting clipped by a car.

Adrenaline is powerful stuff - in life or death situations our whole mentalities change, we can move thru pain and injury.. just hope new gen characters don't get up from falls like they're 87 year old grannies that lost their walker. (no disrespect, grannies of GTA)

I totally agree. However, the type of realism you're expecting would be hard to implement, animation-wise. I'd prefer it if our characters didn't ragdoll at ALL, except after death, or from the knockdown of an explosion. Or make them get up faster, one of the two. Once again, Uncharted has a perfect mix of ragdoll physics and gameplay animations.

It's probably a penalty when you suddenly want to ambush someone from above and surprisingly killing them from behind... maybe.

Getting clipped by a car is a pretty serious deal. Its more you'd break your leg(s) than adrenaline push thru it.

That being said, I do will that tapping A (xbox) would add a little more immediacy to your character's movement. I still spam the sh*t out of it even though I know it does nothing.

I always hate it when I'm slowly sliding down a not very steep incline and making no effort to get up

They're frozen due to philosophical question(s):

Why did I jump off the mountain?

Why did I run into the highway?

Why did I blow up 30 police cruisers?

Surviving a 100ft drop, get right back up.

But if a mugger takes your wallet, stay down for at least 10 seconds because that player paid good money to annoy you.

Rag doll when dropping from 16ft is annoying especially in the heat of battle. Face plant to slowly standing up while being shot -_-

My ass, your character can barely fall 10 feet before faceplanting and dying from the fall lol.

at least it's not as bad as Red Dead Redemption lol..

It's very annoying when I will ragdoll sometimes and the other times I will do a roll, usually from a similar height.

Faceplanting while trying to jump from a roof like a badass is highly frustrating, because I will be lying there while getting torn to shreds by bullets.

Similar to the haste control we are looking for, which would alter the character animation after falling, it would be nice if you could tap A to stop your character from entering the ragdoll state. 19-meme-wallpaper.jpg

Even better, make a option to draw your gun when you're in the ground so you can actually fight back.

Was just about to comment this. Like when you shoot a cop and he draws his gun even though he's down? This should be an option. It'd make it easier to kill those douchebags who run you over.

The character is like losing all their soul so sudden when they're falling or even when slightly bumped by a car.

Tommy is still the baddassest GTA character. Jump from a building? You don't face plant. You ROLL!

Removing parachute?

Must...walk...slowly.

That is probably the #1 most frustrating thing for me. I know Rockstar are proud that the made a good animation for removing a back pack, but god damn, did they not anticipate the likelihood of using parachutes as a means of ambushing enemies?

CJ could survive a fall from any height once you maxed out his strength. The trick was to bail out of a plane with no chute on - with a chute, you'd die, but without one, you'd just land on your feet, unharmed. It was the weirdest thing, but after I worked it out I never used a parachute again.

Shoot them from the chute on the way down. :D

But, from a 'realism' point of view, the unload animation is not out of line - after all, it's not like you can land and then just run off trailing an open chute behind you. You gotta take that stuff off, and it's not a quick process.

mugger has " shoving " effect to player . so even if the mugger gets tripped before reaching victim and the victim make contact with the mugger on the ground , he/she will fell and lose their money in wallet ( normal ppl cannot shove u to ground , even if they run to you . not to mention all muggers has random model or suited for their environment , such as deserted areas may have redneck model or in beach usually females in bikinis but carries knife )

edit : this best to be observed by silentdroidd's mugger vids

I would like some sort of quick get up animation especially in melee situations, whether a quick roll, or a kick out.

I like the idea of having a gun out while on the ground and maybe 5 seconds to get a few rounds off to save your life, kind of like what you have in MP3

oh on the ground , NPC mostly have this ( usually occurs when they're bleeding to death and always pull regular pistol even if they're wield diffrent firearms ) but since online players were always spam bullets to their victim's death , this feature is useless

not to mention that playable characters were immune to be tripped by get shots ( unless resulting death ) unlike NPC , which fall to ground due ragdoll and leaving them exposed from gunfire

I hated on missions where you go to get in your pv and sometimes the character pauses or does a little circle run first, if he doesnt run across the street to break into and hotwire an emperor while the suvs are closing in

so, if we can control out cars in the air, why not our characters? lol

It's annoying yeah, but I also find it funny af so I can/can't complain.

You make a very good point. Also I can imagine a lot of people would complain regardless if a feature like this came in. I remember in MP3 if you nearly died you fell to the ground.. yeah I can imagine players bitching about this happening to them a lot on the forums sooooooooo :panic:
