Simply Logic
Why is there only a duck and cover option.
Grumpy-Goat-
Care to elaborate on that? Are you looking for something more? If so, what? What are your suggested improvements? The simple answer to your question is this though: they designed it that way.
joshjda
What he wants is to be able to duck and move around without needing to be in cover. It's a no brainer and should be in every game that has shooting. Edited October 6, 2014 by joshjda Bozzah and Choco Taco

Jehannum
Heh, yes, like Karl Fairbourne, lying prone atop Los Santos. I'd like that. Edited October 7, 2014 by Jehannum

Maya Echo Visari
they had the ability to crouch in gta 4 but why not gta v? To make way for the useless stealth feature that doesn't help you evade police any easier, evade, or remain undetected from enemy AI any more than usual either. Sure, go ahead and introduce a feature without ever fully explaining how it works exactly, forcing many of us to surf third-party websites hoping to figure out what the mechanics of it are, and then have us questioning if introducing a faulty stealth mechanic is something more useful than something as simple and not as complicated as a crouching mechanic. Stealth lets you move while making less noise? Wow! So would crouching. I'd like the ability to be able to duck while in a vehicle. 'Would be a very useful feature, I'd say.. I mean, is there any point in having two E-brakes? Slamming on the 'X' or 'R1' button will cause your character to duck down like how any NPC would in their cars. I kinda think there was meant to be more to it then there is but they cut it maybe idk i always felt the game felt unfinished could be just me. Especially the story mode felt short again maybe just me idk. Edited October 9, 2014 by joshjda

In fairness, crouching did approximately jack sh*t to help me evade cops. I only ever used it to dodge bullets.

Gonna' assume you're talking about GTA 4, most of the 'stealth' mechanics in that game just involved car-swapping and ducking into alleyways waiting to make your move when the police drove by. 'Pretty sufficient, given that there wasn't exactly any button you could toggle that would hinder the police's search. that.. is essentially the same basic principle of stealth GTA V holds token to also? If its alright, I kinda' like the idea of having a crouch feature that can aid in my survival in combat, rather than have a stealth feature that aids my false sense of security. If that stealth mechanic actually worked, and would in-fact hinder the police's search, (not an instant location when you appear in their cone of vision), I'd say its a step up from just crouching down. It would open up whole new levels of indepth action for the police chases, (and missions too). If it actually worked. Yeah, the absence of all those features is honestly a complete WTF. I was hoping they'd make the parkour better than it was in GTA4, instead it's absent altogether. WTF R*?? As it is right now, with all of the small little details they implemented, (skipping steps, jumping atop barriers without having to press the vaulting button, pouncing across objects and sliding over the hoods of cars and other smooth leveled objects, as well as sliding downward and off a ledge in a safely-natured manner) - Its pretty damn good. It's very fluent and just outright beautiful. I'm happy with what they've done. In a game that tries to be everything, they definitely outdone themselves with on-foot mechanics. However, with the features that were taken out like shimmying, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth because these were things that believe it or not, - people actually used. I don't know why they were removed.. Maybe it was a technical reason, but the idea that you can't grab a ledge jumping from a building to another, or climb down from a building without having to steady yourself using your aimmed weapon for perception and balance.. This is where I might take back some of the things I said previously. It ain't no Mirror's Edge, or Assassin's Creed, - But since every building can virtually be scaled by a ladder.. I don't see why not. All in all though, despite what was removed (which I can only hope will see a return on current gen release), I still think the parkour elements in GTAV are renowned. joshjda
