DaltonWilliams123
Creator Note Before I start this I am going to say a few things. Graphical images are nice to have in a concept thread but it is not my priority so these will be added gradually. I am not going to take note of any people who criticise this concept just because they wouldn't like GTA in the UK. Working with real place names at the moment, might create fictional names if you really want me to. Introduction GTA: British Blood has three protagonists, all from a different part of the United Kingdom. The game is set in London and some of Kent, South Wales (Cardiff and Swansea) with some of the surrounding area and Edinburgh with the surrounding area. Each character will start out in their home area but will come across each other in their business and eventually work together. Equal amount of missions will be in each place with side missions and activities available in all areas. Protagonists Name: Steve Daley Age: 24 Description: Born and raised in the East End of London. Got arrested for stealing a car at 12 years old. His mother and father were killed in a car crash while he was 15. Taken in by his friends after his granddad got tired of the drug dealing he took part in. Works in a Chop Shop for a living. Name: Gareth Bowen Age: 18 Description: Born in Swansea, moved to Cardiff for university purposes at 17. Got kicked out at 18 due to being framed for drug dealing on campus grounds. Goes to living with parents again and works as an employee in a local shop fighting for business with another couple of small stores. Name: Scott McCraven Age: 32 Description: Scottish man born in Edinburgh. Retired from the military after thinking that he had more to life than shooting terrorists for a living. Was not the most obedient soldier, got given disciplinary action for disrespect and misbehaviour 10 times while out on his tours of duty. Now has no job with money running out fast. Activities The activities in this game will be based on what people from the United Kingdom do in their spare time. Some things that American's do will also remain. Colour of the text shows which characters can do the activity. Drinking - Various bars and nightclubs will sell different drinks. Each bar/nightclub has 3 tiers of drink. Level 1 will give the screen a slight blur and the character will walk normally. Level 2 will give the screen a medium blur and the character will stumble around a bit. Level 3 will have the screen almost impossible to see and the character will be falling even on the slowest walking you can do. Each level lasts a different time with 1 the shortest and 3 the longest. 8 Ball Pool - Pool tables can be found in most of the bars/pubs in the game. Each protagonist has the option to buy one for their safehouse's. When interacting with a pool table, you have the option of 1 frame, 3 frame and 5 frame matches. The player will get a pool cue as a melee weapon after a game has finished. Players can buy different cues at sport shops. Pub Darts - Dart boards can be found in a lot of bars/pubs in the game (though not as common as Pool Tables). Each protagonist can buy one for their safehouse's. When interacting with a Dart Board, you have the option of 301 or 501 games with either 1 game, 3 games or 5 games. Players can purchase new sets of darts with different abilities at sport shops. Betting Shops - Betting shops have three different ways to gamble. There horse racing which can be done at any time in between 10:00 and 17:00 hours. There are slot machines which can be done at any time of day, each shop has different machines. There is also Football/Soccer score betting which can only be done on Saturday or Sunday in between 12:00 and 17:00. Restaurants - Can be used to eat food on your own or with friends. Food will replenish your health. Can steal a knife from these as a weapon which may result in a wanted level, can also kill the chef in the kitchen for a meat cleaver although other chefs will attack you with them. Three levels of meal. Level 1 will refill 1/3 of health, Level 2 refills 2/3 and Level 3 refills 3/3. Soccer Scene - Steve or Gareth can get involved in the Football/Soccer scene by playing a 5 vs 5 game once a week for the team they have joined. Scouts will notice their talents after taking part in some of the soccer scenarios such as "Can you take over for our injured player" or taking part in training sessions. There are different leagues and they can get paid for playing for a team. They can also play a kick-about game with friends. If they wants to watch a game of football in a stadium, it can be done. Tennis - Steve or Scott can play Tennis in various places such as in sports centres, outdoor tennis courts and indoor tennis courts. Sports shops can be used to buy racquets with special abilities. Tennis courts can be built on the grounds of some safehouse's. When interacting with a Tennis court, there are options for 1 game, 3 game and 5 game matches. There are many levels of opponent and some tournaments can be given to the player by email or Lifeinvader. After playing a game of tennis you get a racquet as a melee weapon. Golf/Mini-Golf - Golf can be played from the 3 golf courses in the game and the various other miniature golf courses that you will find in fairs or seaside piers. Sports shops can be used to purchase clubs with abilities to help out on the course and also golf balls that have a cosmetic difference. A putting/chipping green can be built on any of the land on a safehouse property as well as a mini golf course. Weapons This is a list of weapons. ADropInTheOcean
Hard to judge the quality of your concept when you have so little about it Even so, I'm digging the characters, which is a good start.
DaltonWilliams123
I'm not sure how Wales & Scotland count as "British" blood. Wales and Scotland are part of the British Isles/ United Kingdom. That is like saying LA doesn't count as America. Thank you for your opinions guys. I will try to update this as much as I can. I get that they're part of the United Kingdom, but seeing as the term "British" usually pertains to something relating to England (at least over here), you could rename it to "United Kingdom Blood" or whatever floats your boat. ClaudX
Just a suggestion, but I'd change the activities colors to just one color. It's hard on the eyes, especially the green. The blue is also sort of difficult to see.

If he wants to keep it that's fine, I'm just giving my two cents for a concept thread that's so far just some characters and activities. Well, they're wrong, but who to call British is a little difficult. British could be used for anyone from any of the British Isles and that technically includes Ireland (Although I'd not recommend saying this to any Irishman). Great Britain is the larger of the islands, counting England, Wales and Scotland. They're definitely all British. The United Kingdom is Great Britain and Northern Ireland and calling someone British in the latter location could be bit of a gamble. It's still technically correct and the army of the UK is called the British Army and has servicemembers from Scotland, Wales and N. Ireland. Technically, the Falklands and Gibraltar are also part of the UK, but people from those places are not (necessarily) British (depending on their heritage, I guess). In short; British Blood is fine. Pedant-mode: And it's not really an umbrella-term, if it's used to denote one thing, is it? Umbrella-term would mean that it coveres several different things - like how British can be used to cover people from any of the British Isles. NOW, as for the actual concept: Very bare-bones, you really should've put in a lot more work before posting. Also, regarding Scott: How is one 'bought out' of the military? And why? Also, I can assure you, no one would get court martialed (not marshalled) 15 times and still be in the military. Furthermore, disrespect and misbehaviour (or insubordinance, as it would probably be called) doesn't warrant a court martial, but is dealt with differently. The blue is also sort of difficult to see. I think I will do that, have you another way of easily differentiating who can do what? I have two ways that may help. One, you simply state it in the description ,like, "Drinking-Drinking can be done by all protagonists." "Darts-Darts can only be played by..." So on and so forth. Two, you could split the activities into different sections, one for each of the three protags and then another for activities that all can do. See: All Protagonists Drinking-......... Steve Darts.... Gareth Bowling......

Sasuke Uzumaki
I really like how you're creating the activities to have a lot more depth than they usually have. Being able to play in a football league is an amazing idea. Good luck on the road to making this!

Tyla
I'd get rid of the coloured text. They're a pain in the arse to read. There's a few things that gripe me: No British cop uses a Desert Eagle. Actually, who even carries a Desert Eagle as any kind of sidearm anyway? They are tat. Have them carry Glocks and SMGs as actual police do. Gun shops -- not needed, stick with the underground dealers and blokes who will sell to you in pub car parks. No UK shop is legally going to sell you a machine gun over a counter, no matter how much you want to appeal to an American audience. Activities -- tennis and bookie shops are nice and all, where's the cage fighting and burglary? There's a total lack of any criminal side activities. Give me those over GTA + Fifa, cool as it sounds. Keep working at it. I want to see more UK GTA ideas around these forums.
AndyC-M
i dont really see the point of using all 3 countries, especially considering gangster life in all 3 countries are different, although again, gangster life between the south east and the north west of england are both different as well, you would have problems getting the voices of the characters right how about dropping their footballing and add the 'english cancer' that is football hooliganism? nobody is brave enough currently to subject on that Edited October 13, 2014 by AndyC-M ocd
universetwisters
how about dropping their footballing and add the 'english cancer' that is football hooliganism? nobody is brave enough currently to subject on that I believe Tyla's old concept set in London did that and handled it quite nicely. But yeah, I'd do that and take into consideration what Tyla said.
Tyla
That I did. And this concept with the larger map, football hooliganism would be a perfect side mission. Think of it like Gang Wars only restricted to melee weapons.
AndyC-M
that would be fun, using things like a chelsea kiss (also known as a glasgow kiss) or lobbing house bricks, and introducing stanley to the argument...
