universetwisters
I remember a while ago some other forum members and I were talking about making some airsoft thread or something for those who do it to discuss it and the likes so after thinking about it I decided to give it a go and stuff. Who here does airsoft? I've got a few airsoft guns I used to use to shoot at targets in the backyard but now I've just been collecting them to make into movie props for movies with my buddies. This here's one I just got today, a Cyma "ZM93" spring loaded AK47 rifle. It's pretty good for it's money, which was like 40 at a flea market. Do you do any airsoft? Do you use it competitively or just for shooting at vermin in the yard? Post your stories & stuff here

universetwisters
My buddy tried to get me into paintball but it just doesn't appeal much to me. Not only do the guns look nothing like real life ones but with the oxygen canisters, paint, etc. it's a lot more expensive than airsoft.
Melech
I did airsoft but I stopped doing two years ago. I'd post pictures with my airsoft weapon, but I'd have to look for them through thousands of pictures. universetwisters

muddeprived
What is airsoft? I know they are guns that shoot plastic bb's but do you guys just shoot stuff or are there competitions like paintball? My buddy collects airsoft guns but he never uses them. He has that same AK47 in the OP, and bunch of automatics and pistols. I prefer the real thing though. Its not like this: The price does get ridiculous sometimes. Since I also have a Tippmann Crossover paintball gun, cheap ass paintballs like to explode in my gun when I shoot fast. And I will eat up ammo quicker than a fat kid at a buffet You know full size bolt-action sniper rifles are hundreds or thousands of dollars. You can get a cheap, spring powered one for like $10-30 and modify it to perform as well as one of those expensive Airsoft rifles and the total cost will still be cheaper Edited October 5, 2014 by Winning001

gtamann123
May as well paint a bullseye on your forehead. Just don't be an idiot and walk around out in public with it or point it at cops and sh*t. I actually knew someone who had a paintball version of one of these replicas back when I used to be really into paintball. It was actually really legit and fun as hell to shoot. The tank for it was huge and in a backpack and must have been under higher pressure because it shot atleast twice as far and hit twice as hard as your standard paintball gun. Worth the money if you ask me. Edited October 5, 2014 by gtamann123

Korpi
we used to get together a few times with a group of friends from school and play airsoft. this was sometime back in 2005 and i haven't owned an airsoft gun since nor played the game itself. fun times they were though.. if i remember correctly; i had this very similar police pistol to a "Bren Ten" famously used by Sonny Crockett in "Miami Vice". mr quick
I've got a spring-loaded bolt-action sniper rifle with bipod and scope, a licensed springl-oaded H&K g36 (with detachable stock, RDS, and bipod/barrel extension), a spring-loaded p99, and a gas-loaded Revolver. Used to have an m9(sold), a pump-action shotgun(sold) and an m16(shattered to pieces) I used to be all f*ck YEAH AIRSOFT GHNHNHNH but I no longer have time for hobbies so I just shoot targets at the summer house

The paint is water soluble All I have to say is that the more complex the gun looks, the harder it is to clean, especially with tac rails galore
Gdog
i used to but not anymore. my country is making is f*cking harder all the time. we now need firearm licenses to keep these guns. and if you want a realistic looking gun you gotta sign up for some programme. if not then you only get a two-tone sh*tty painted gun. i ended up selling my rifle and pistols. all i got left now is a couple blank firers which i just use for display. all because some lunatic shot some kid in the face and killed him. wiizardii
Props to universe/nippletwisters for a Airsoft thread. I have been an airsoft fan since I was about 11. I love it, I own a G36C AEG, M4A1 AEG, MP5 AEG, and a pump action mossberg 500. I don't shot as much as I used to because of school and being busy and such on: but I do shot when i get enough good time. I also had a PT99, but it broke. I am planning on buying a Co2 1911A1. the bbs I use are bio-d. Gotta be nice to the environment (for the ones who are gunna ask: I use 0.20g bbs. I tend to only use it because its fine for both Co2 powered and AEG.) BTW: I think this thread should be edited and called Official Airsoft thread with a big ass airsoft logo on the OP. El Dildo
oh I've been playing paintball since I was like 14. right now I'm using a Tippmann Cronus that I've had for a couple years. I'm not really into airsoft though because I own real firearms. airsoft is for people who think paintball is immature but are otherwise too afraid of real gunpowder

K^2
Growing up in Russia, I did a lot of airsoft. We've had some great abandoned construction sites to use for the games. Mostly smaller competition games, but we've thrown a few airsoft LARPs as well. There was a major apartment complex that never got built past the basic structure. Three or four units sharing some walls and a common basement, each with its own staircase and an elevator shaft. Five floors. (Four in some places, where the fifth floor wasn't finished.) Concrete panel construction, with most of the walls already in place. We threw a fantastic cyberpunk airsoft LARP there in '01. But the only reason we stuck with airsoft was the low cost. Most of us wouldn't be able to afford paintball equipment. Other than that, I think every one of us would have preferred to have markers instead. Whether you are running through tactical scenarios in a friendly round, or running a major LARP, ability to quickly and easily identify hits and out-of-game characters is a huge help. Edit: Just looked on Google, and I can't believe that they've actually turned that pile of rubble into a complete apartment complex. They seem to have cleared what was above the fifth floor, and re-built the rest with brick. Here is the link to Google Street-view of that structure. The part done in concrete is pretty much what I remember being there. Minus all the windows and doors, of course, and in much sorrier state. There was no parking lot, light poles, or power lines, either. That whole area was pretty deserted. So we were able to use much of the wooded areas around for some of our games as well. sivispacem
I've airsofted a couple of times, including an all-day wargame scenario. Never owned my own weapons- unless you want them painted silly colours there are lots of annoying hoops to jump through to avoid falling foul of regulations regarding replica and decommissioned weapons. Couple of mates do own their own, including a fairly vicious 500fps bolt action R700. Always really enjoyed it. sivispacem
It's okay, if you rent stuff at the various sites they're usually stealthy. Last place I played had loads of excellent G36C's as well as some M4 Carbines I didn't really get on with as the stock interfered with a full face mask. The G36 were a bit heavier but folding stocks and a higher fire rate. My overbearing memory was of one of the trench warfare scenario games where the first thing you knew about the enemy was when the marshal told everyone to switch to semi-automatic fire as you were within 10ft of each other. That was much more fun as the attacker- you could just sit in a building and spray fully automatic fire into the trenches from afar and they wouldn't be able to even pop their heads up for fear of getting shredded.
