Lock n' Stock Posted October 5, 2014 Share Posted October 5, 2014 (edited) As much as I give III credit, I feel LCS is essentially a better version with more weapons, missions, vehicles and activities, along with the ability to wear this badass outfit... Plus you can play it ANYWHERE you go at anytime if you own the PSP version, well at least you now can with GTA III thanks to iOS gaming. Zello Posted October 5, 2014 Share Posted October 5, 2014 (edited) LCS was the first I bought but I think III is better the city feels darker and grittier and running around wtih a hired gun that pisses off every gang in the city made it fun you couldn't enter a couple areas without getting shot by a couple gangs. Those first lines 8-Ball tells Claude are legendary "I know a place on the edge of the Red Light District where we can lay low, but my hands are all messed up so you better drive, brother." Johan Posted October 5, 2014 Share Posted October 5, 2014 LCS was my first GTA, it's also my favorite one in the III era (as seen on my profile) love Tony, love the city and the amazing characters such as JD, Salvatore, Maria, Love, etc. III is probably my 2nd favorite III era GTA so it's not overlooked by me, but if I were to choose one of those two, LCS gets my vote. Back on topic, I've never played LCS, I've heard it's the same gameplay in Vice city (same vehicles, weapons, etc.), III has that "small goon criminal" kind of charm, something that didn't happen untill GTA Online. I grew up playing the GTA Vice city to GTA LCS era, that's why I love GTA LCS so much. Its also very underrated. But GTA III? GTA III revolutionised open world sandbox. That's why: - Nostalgia: it is the first GTA i've ever seen, and at the time it was the "awesomest thing i've ever seen in the history of awesomeness" (now it's "just" awesome) - sound - from the made-up music to the great echo, from the funny dialogues to the "squash" effect when you run over pedestrian, the game is just so beautiful to hear - cast: fewer lines than modern games and a rather blocky appearance,but almost every character was unique and charming... plus, real celebrities doing voiceover! - unfinished business: the game is highly unpolished, and some business are really unfinished, both metaphorically (mafia just disappear after the first half of the game) and literally (buildings have no roofs, dodo is way too glitchy to fly). But thanks to his roughness the game has two of the greatest "bugs" ever, the flying dod (at least R* said that he was never created to fly, but we did) and ghost town. GTA LCS just removed all of this, even the beloved dodo (you can access a fully functional helicopter, but it's not the same thrill) GTA LCS comes second, but has something unique in his own way: - ferries: great features and one of the "beta" features to come back (according to some source, gta III had ferries at one point) - the city: while the III liberty has its charm and little touches that LCS lacks, LCS does great justice to his predecessor improving the city in every possible way. Sure, sometimes it's hard to think that a place can change so much in 3 years, and this creates litle paradoxes (the ferries docks is just a little flat land in III...did the sea ate half of the city?), but the new little italy is wonderful, and even after the explosion there are still many places that improves the original game - the gore: GTA III sould have been the winner here, but unfortunately 9/11 removed some cool features like limb explosion, exploding airplanes and a couple of terroristic side-missions. GTA LCS, while still not having some of those features, cranck the gore up to eleven: slash tv, human meat, cannibalism and a HUGE-F*******G EXPLOSION that destroys buildings and kills many innocent bystanders in the middle of manhat...ehm, Staunton island. However, when you take into account the special vehicles found in LCS, LCS wins by a landslide and has almost as many as SA. Being a special vehicle collector and all, this is 100% bullsh*t. You can obtain a FP (Fireproof) Maverick in LCS without cheats/mods/CheatDevice. However, it's a PSP exclusive vehicle and can't be obtained on the PS2 version. As for PS2 users, we can get a regular non proofed Maverick from False Idols without cheats/mods/CheatDevice.
