My BF Injection suddenly lost all of it's Rust!

Rust or not, it does look pretty darn good without the bird crap on top of it. I wonder if the same thing could happen to a voodoo.. I'd have ten of 'em just for that one little offchance.

Guys, that's for sure a metallic finish. The rust is slightly visible, but it's clearly not the "original".

Some of you guys gotta check your eyes lol

Matte color has virtually no shine. Its metallic, but I'm thinking it's a small glitch.

OP, did you change sessions and did the color stick?

Also if you haven't, try changing the color to another metallic color like red, and see how it looks.

Sugar Free Nos

I think this last patch just messed rusty vehicles up completely, OP isn't crazy.

I have both a Duneloader in worn red and a Bodhi in worn seawash green, and after this patch the colors have become much darker and the rust is toned down a lot. I also have a Dubsta (which is obviously not rusty) the same color as my Bodhi. Before the patch the color on my Bodhi was much lighter than the Dubsta and looked really nice, but after this patch the Bodhi is the same shade as the Dubsta. I've had these vehicles for the past 5 months, so I know what the colors looked like and I can tell that something in the texture has changed.

In short, yes, there has been a noticeable change with how colors look on rusty vehicles. I hate it and hope it's just a texture bug. I embraced the rust and now my colors look awful.

Curious if this is an occurrance with the "Rusty" Rebel and Bodhi.

I'm not sure why people think that is a MATTE finish. Big difference in how the light reflects. Much more flat.

The texture of rust is very faint, it's still there - slightly, but it is apparent that it is mostly hidden/removed. Completely different look (almost like from the picture on SAA), which I dig.

Yes, you can justify there is some rust still there, but a significant amount is gone. Plus the injection looks better without it imo.

I think so! I bought a Bodhi (for the 3rd or 4th time!) the day before the LTS update... when I went to play the game yesterday, I could've sworn it looked different. It was way shinier. It still has the bullet-hole looking blemishes, but the paint looked far less worn away than it did before. Much like the Injection comparison pictures posted earlier.

I've had this happen with Trevor's Bodhi in SP at random times. Don't know what causes it though. :/

This was pre-patch BTW.

Ok, do your eally want to know why your cars dont look like rust. You have different sets of lightings showing on your car masking the rust. That or you have a color corrected picture. I have had many BF INJECTIONS and its all the same. White and full on white. Masks it in LSC

The car still has rust, but i'm guessing that game goofed and painted the rust spots over as the same color op selected in lsc in metallic, hence why you see ghostly blemishes in the comparison picture.

I just decided to purchase an Injection for the hell of it in MP.

I believe more often than not cars from websites are of the Classic variety.

Sure enough, ordered in black - took into LSC - Classic Black. It matches almost identically what Zorvaine has posted. However changing to Metallic Black, the rust is more "visible". From memory, rust was most certainly MORE visible. It's toned down some in this paint type.

Now if you use ANY Classic color it becomes even MORE subdued. It's still present yes, but it's faint in appearance now. What I'm looking at right now is that Metallic still has a noticeable appearance for rust.

To recap: Primary Matte, Chrome and Metals appear to be somewhat toned down in comparison to what we're used to, however the CLASSIC color is what is giving this the appearance of it almost being completely gone (almost). Secondary also matches what is done to the Primary (Classics make it almost disappear).

Dude you're right, both my Injection and my Brodhi have lost their rust, it's awesome, thanks for bringing my attention to it so I can paint and save them like this before they are patched. And NO my Voodoo and Ratloader are still rusty. What all y'all keep saying is rust on his car is just the spider-webbing in the cracking paint, that is still there but if you park it next to a voodoo you can plainly see that there is NO rust on Injections if you own them and go paint them right NOW. IDK why but it is true. Thanks again OP.

P.S.

I am going to go check my Mariachi Tornado and then I will take and post some pics for proof.

You're all very hard to convince I see. Voila: BOTH are metallic black. Chrome secondary.

Really. I'm not one to make things up.

Now i remember.

Theres multiple dust/dirt/rust textures for every car.

You just got one with a less dirty texture.

Its not the same to everyone else so most other players will see your car dirty.

Both vehicles were clean and I was with 3 friends, all of which confirmed that they looked exactly like on this picture on their screen.

My Injection was like the one on the right for a year now, the latest update changed it.

Why don't you just say I used photoshop and get on with it.

Gnocchi Flip Flops

"Accusations"

...and they're true, mate. Both shots have clear rust in them. You haven't shown comparison shots, either.

Somebody please knock this dimwit upside the head please?

I had a similar occurrence with my Dune Buggy around 1.13 or so, where the front paneling took on Matte Dark Earth like the rest of the vehicle and there would be no rust whatsoever. Interesting. Would like to know what causes this.

Technically the rust is always there and it doesn't go away, it's just less visible with darker paint.

The rust is an overlaying texture that's part of the overall model like every other detail. It's like, cars that have rusty variants have the rusty variants as separate vehicles within the game files (Emperor, Tornado, Surfer), and those that are permanently rusty just lack clean variants (Voodoo, Bodhi, Injection).

The rust on my dune buggy will disappear from time to time.

Spawn in my garage, mostly clean buggy. Walk out and right back in.... dust and rust back on it. wtf?

Either way, it's not a truly clean paintjob. It still looks crappy compared to an actual clEan paintjob.

Yes the rust may be gone, but the patchy, cracked paint look is still there.

Just a heads up, the last update did remove metallic paint into classic in some garages. Perhaps that?

Yes, this is put the best way yet. On the pics of my Injection above the bumpers is the biggest tell, the bumpers no longer have the rust, also neither does my Bodhi, in Story Mode nor in Online, they both have the Mr. Raspberry Jam on the Grille IDK if that matters, but the color is GREAT.

Technically the rust is always there and it doesn't go away, it's just less visible with darker paint.

Then why is it gone on my WHITE Injection and My Steel Bodhi, neither of these would be considered "darker paint" colors, the reason the rust is gone is because it is GONE, now just like I stated previously and Mach1bud stated above it does keep the patchy, cracked paint or what I called "spider-webbing" but the rust is gone, look at my pics above there is NO rust, none on the bumpers, none on the paint. Same goes for the bodhi, which is even better because it had holes in the bed.

Now something else that is happening here is that when you paint the Injection(or my bodhi) it NO LONGER places "Worn" paint on it, as it should, because it does with ALL rusty vehicles, if you pick paint from Metallic or Classic in a Rusty Vehicle normally the game will automatically place "Worn" paint on it. That is why the versions on the street are still found with these "Worn" colors on them. Now normally these worn colors are off limit unless in a Rusty Vehicle but now evidently they are off limit all together, I am going to try all of my rusty rides in the paint shop and see what happens, maybe "Worn" paint cannot be accessed during 1.17, if so this is when you need to paint your Rusty Vehicles.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

@Everyone

As much as Rust is mentioned I believe, IMO, that this does in fact have to do with the Worn Paint and the fact that we CAN NO LONGER select it, which in turn is allowing us to paint our "Rusty" Vehicles Shiny.

*EDIT

After much more testing(including pics, I will upload later) I have come to the conclusion that although worn paint DOES still spawn on Rusty Vehicles it is NO LONGER placed on the Vehicle at LCS. Now I this does mean that in actuality the "Rust" itself is NOT removed, instead the limits the "Rust" has put on the vehicle has been removed. Meaning NOW it can be painted with the correct color, not the closest Worn HEX Color, but more as if you tried to paint a good paintjob on a Rusty Vehicle without doing ANY bodywork first. So the Paint Colors for Chrome, Classic, Crew, Metallic, & Metal are all NOW Shiny on Rusty Vehicles, where they had all previously been Worn(Slightly Matte). While I was testing the Rusty Surfer, the BF Injection, the Bodhi, the Voodoo, the Ratloader, the Duneloader, & the Rusty Rebel I also noticed two more additional paint changes; you can NO LONGER place Crew Color on top of Chrome or Metal Paintjobs, and you CAN NOW place Pearlescent into Crew Color using the "-How to place PEARLESCENT paint ON ANY COLOR!(even metals/chrome)" Glitch.

The "-How to place PEARLESCENT paint ON ANY COLOR!(even metals/chrome)" Glitch tutorial can be found at my Exploits/Glitches Text Tutorial Thread "http://gtaforums.com/topic/707912-exploitsglitches-compiled-list-for-update-thread/?do=findComment&comment=1065367955"(Post #1)

Wow so much ignorance in this thread. "It's rusty! Boo hoo!" Obviously the roof isn't rusty in the second sets of pics. SMFH.
