Alpha version of game looks awful why even create this? Beta was more interesting larger map and ect.

We want to re-create the alpha because we find it interesting.

Beta was not really that much interesting and it didn't had a larger map.

Yea, we want to recreate the Alpha. AFAIK from Sergiu, we will only have St Marks in the BETA stage, that's because there is no Alpha pic at all with that version (maybe very few bits in pics) so we don't know how it mostly looked in Alpha :)

The point is that the beta is very close to the retail. The major differences were in the alpha.

Not really, only R* knows wich period the game was beta or alpha.

back on topic now.

edit: Nice progress on peds, Darth. :D

Everyone considers the bright, shiny and smooth looking version 3D/alpha while the darker one, beta.

Hey there is nice reflection out there, can you remake them? I mean glass shine on the car :D

Really? It's very, very hard to do... We should either edit the reflection file in the particles.txd and fit it perfectly, or tweak the EXE, it's very hard.

Just out of curiosity, where do you guys get the ps2 anims from?

Someone said that this mod had the restored ps2 anims. I think u saw it on Skype.

Well, we'd like to ask Dim Zet, really. If he doesn't agree, then they won't be used.

No one mentioned using PS2 animations as far as I know.

Well someone did

Now that's ironic. :p

I wanted to make this post to share something I made that could be used in this mod that is a bit inspired from something in the Alpha Mod 2.0 that I wanted to improve on. I decided to try and make a mock version of the intro FMV sequence using a MUCH cleaner sample of Tom Novy's Back to the Streets that the Alpha Mod lacked, and also used the GTA 3D name that this mod is using alongside rendering it in much cleaner quality than the version used in the Alpha Mod. Even if it was supposed to mimic the alpha quality of everything, I still feel that it should have been much less compressed both video and audio wise. Can't destroy the awesome that is Back to the Streets, the song is too good for that. :p

It's using the standard NTSC intro, but I am on the look out for the alleged version used in the European releases that has the beta police vehicle in it.

Sorry for not posting progress, but my power got off, and my Windows got corrupted. I need to do alot of things before working on models, like installing my old tools and programs, install 3ds max, dropbox, skype, and fix my net. I am on a School PC now so I can't show anything . :(

Since I posted my video I did find a copy of the intro I was mentioning, thanks for the share though, can't get enough of the NYPD styled cars. They look rad in GTA III.

I will get it up later today, it is pretty late in my neck of the woods and I need some sleep but the intro has the NYPD styled car in it and I fixed the GTA 3D logo I made to be similar in proportion to the GTA 2 logo. I also lowered the quality of the logo to mesh with the already low compression of the PS2 intro footage to make it consistent.

There's an older intro. It would be good if anyone can rip it, add that back to the streets tune and GTA 3D as a logo. I can get R4GN0R0K to do that but he's been busy lately.

The question is if that intro was leaked in full and where to find it.

That explains it. It isn't a full version of the e3 intro on the internet,sadly..

In that case, it seems like the PAL version of the intro with the NYPD styled cars may be the best option we have right now.

Oh and I am going back to the drawing board for my take on the intro, going to take a slight bit of inspiration from that e3 version of the intro and add the GTA3D logo in the credits sequences to slightly mimic it. That will probably be up by Monday at the latest since I will be busy for the weekend. Will get to editing it sometime in the evening on Sunday.
