While the leak was a sad and pathetic move from the sad, butthurt and jealous ex-team member, it will surely give you guys some more publicity and further strengthens all the excitement & content that you guys have been putting effort into for the past 3 years.

Kinda did, we sorted out in detail what is there left to do.

 

I have to mention that we managed to kill their game before it even started thanks to Kretin8, who notified us of the sharing before it got everywhere. Thanks, dude!

Word. Darkel may have been giving you Ramage styled missions, but there's not much to be sure about, and GTA3D tries to stick to the things we know for sure

All we know about Darkel:

 

Bill Fiore was his voice actor.

His main goal was to bring down the city's economy.

Responsible for the rampage side missions.

Gave you rampage like main story missions. (such as 20 pedestrians in 5 minutes)

He gave you five missions.

One of the missions involved an ice cream truck during a hot summer day, likely in the Little China Park.

The rewards for his missions were not monetary, but most likely weapons or rare vehicles.

 

What can be theorised... According to the Liberty Tree, there was a recent moonshine epidemic in LC as well as a bum problem, since Darkel's men in the Harwood tunnel were left as an easter egg, holding moltov cocktails. It is mentioned on the official site that those bums would abuse moonshine and then harass people, it all makes sense now.

Kind of dumb question tbh, but will you add Tom Novy (maybe as a pedestriant)

 

P.S PC Model is broken. It's using lod model. PS2 one is fine thought.

Yup, thought of that or as the Ammunation clerk replacing Sam Houser, since they have very similar models... Could be interesting.

 

In a way, we could spawn Darkel at the tunnel, Luigi near his club and Sal near his mansion if we ever do this...

did you guys think about multiplayer mode for gta3d?

 

Best we can do is modify the menu to show the multiplayer menus (that won't work most of the time) but that's probably something nobody wants

Shouldn't the house icon be deactivated? I don't recall it being there in the screenshot with the radar from the real Alpha

It would be very inconvenient for players to have it removed though.

 

The alpha and pre-alpha versions had really bad draw distance and a very low frame rate aswell. Doesn't mean the alpha mod should have that included.

 

Sure it would give you the feel of actually playing a buggy alpha build, but it would also annoy the hell out of you.

 

(Bit of an extreme example, but it gets the point across.)

I get the point, but in reality, the missing safehouse icon was intended by the devs, the low frame rate and stuff was not.

Also they implemented the no LODs feature IIRC. And in final, every player who knows GTA 3 enough to know about its Alpha version shouldn't have a problem locating the three safehouses.

It could just be that Rockstar hadn't bothered doing much HUD work back then and were planning on adding it to the game for a while.

 

Again, it would really only cause more inconvenience. And yeah the last part is true, however it wouldn't hurt to still have the icon present.

Maybe they wanted only missions markers and stuff to be displayed

Doesn't make sense to add a feature that is uncofirmed vs a feature that is confirmed through screens.

We might actually remove the icon since you don't have to save în a sandbox demo really.

 

Keeping the safehouse feature tho. Just unlisted...

@Vadim M sub_roadleft is used in San Andreas. Interesting!

 

Btw aren't those wooden doors used in Sal's mansion?

Its not interesting. Its obvious. Most part of Gta SA was from gta3 or VC elements.
