That's why naturally aspirated engines are disappearing, even from companies like Ferrari, and that's why automakers are downsizing their engines even on competitive sports cars such as the M4. They just needed to make something cost-effective that would lower their average emissions. Cars like this Asterion aren't tiny compacts though, which is why I don't understand the desire. I mean, people really buy these things. I'm sure the list of LaFerrari owners was full a day after it was announced. epoxi
The makers of cars need to give you a reason to buy the new version. It is very tedious to constantly come out with a more powerful, faster, better handling car using exactly the same ingredients as before. Think of it like power steering, many people (Porsche 911 purists for example) argue it ruins the feel of the driving, but how can you expect to sell a car in the modern world without bringing in such a typical feature? Now I'm not suggesting hybrids are beneficial in the same way, as people have already mentioned these hybrid super-cars are hardly efficient, but your average Ferrari or Lamborghini-buyer will want to know they are getting more 'car' than the last model just like any other consumer. Power steering is kind of essential. I don't drive yet, but without power steering [fluid], my dad's truck does not turn at all. That may just be because it's equipped with it. As for coming out with more powerful, faster, better handling cars, its easy for manufacturer's to do that, but, like the Sesto Elemento, they're sacrificing comfort for speed. There aren't even seats in the Elemento, just pads pasted to the chasis. And the dashboard... well, it isn't a dashboard, just carbon fiber plates and the spot for the gauges. No air conditioning, radio, etc.

FranklinDeRoosevelt
Definitely good looking. It sh*ts on the Aventador and Hurucan by far, but I think overall, the Miura, Countache and the Gallardo are the best looking cars they've made to date. Zondar
This looks lovely. I like how there's design hints of the Muira, Espada and the Uracco without the car being some kind of horrible retro pastiche. epoxi
bread
Would be pretty cool if they had a non-hybrid version as well. This thing looks too f*cking good to be a hybrid car.
QuackinAColdOne
Would be pretty cool if they had a non-hybrid version as well. This thing looks too f*cking good to be a hybrid car. I don't think they'd made a non-hybrid version. This following statement is based solely on my own knowledge, but supercars don't sell like your average sedan, SUV, crossover, etc. I think Ferrari only sold 180 599's. Whereas, BMW, Mercedes, Chevrolet, Ford, etc. sell hundreds of thousands to millions per model. To make a non-hybrid version of the Asterion would mean for them to lose money since 1) it's only a concept so the car hasn't even been put into production and won't be for at least a few months and 2) since the company is putting so much into carbon fiber engineering and reducing CO2 (which, by the way, leads to emissions of 98 g/kms), it would be too much effort and probably a time waster to invest in a naturally aspirated engine that the buyer would usually pass up, anyways. Zondar
Ferrari sold a lot more than 180 599's dude. Unless you mean the 599GTO? Also, the engine is NA is it not?

As I said before, the sales of the 599 were just pure guessing. And, the engine is NA combined with PHEV technology, which gives the car an electric driving range and low CO2 emissions. K^2
It's a weird thing to call a hybrid. I mean, yeah, it is technically one, but you're clearly not in it for the environment or the gasoline efficiency. Don't think of it as a car that is similar to a Prius. The electric motor isn't for fuel economy. It's there to add more power. Though it does help fuel economy as a side effect.
