Testarossa
Mounted in the middle of its carbonfibre Aventador chassis is the familiar 5.2-litre V10 that’s seen service in the Gallardo and now the Huracan, but the big news is the presence of three electric motors. The combination of the motors and the V10 gives a power output of 898bhp, making this the most powerful car Lamborghini has ever built. The engine sends 602bhp and 413lb ft of torque via a seven-speed automatic gearbox to the rear wheels only, while two of the electric motors live on the front axle to power the front wheels, and a third is in the gearbox. These provide 296bhp to make up the rather exciting total power output. Power is supplied to the motors via a lithium ion battery which runs down the centre of the cabin. Should you want to just tootle to the shops, the Asterion has an electric-only range of 31 miles with a top speed of 78mph. This will also give you the perverse pleasure of being able to pilot a temporarily front-wheel drive Lambo. Want a little more firepower? With the V10 engaged, you can dispatch 0-62mph in three seconds dead, and hit 199mph. Thoughts? Lurch
Best looking lambo in a good long time. Take away the Aventador's funky, jagged, stealth fighter shapes, and you've got a damn good looking car. *MURDOC*

QuackinAColdOne
Yeah, that's right. Lamborghini just released an exclusive concept of a petrol-electric GT concept of the Lamborghini Asterion. If the Asterion has packed away its six-shooter, it’s still delivering a full-blooded rebel yell. A mid-engined two-seater coupe measuring 4.7m long, it uses an adapted Aventador carbon fibre monocoque, mostly in the lower section, with a different roof structure, and its wheelbase has been stretched to create more interior space. It borrows the Huracan’s stunning 607bhp 5.2-litre V10, which is hooked up to a blistering dual-clutch seven-speed rear transaxle auto ’box. Lamborghini CEO stated that most of their customers are entrepreneurs, and they're not only enthusiasts, but very sharp minded when it comes to world today. This is why they're taking a step in this drection. But this glass is also defiantly half-full. The Asterion’s total power output is a thumping 907bhp. It’ll do 185mph all-out, and accelerate to 62mph in just over three seconds, while coughing out 98g/km of CO2s. A real-world range of 30 miles on pure electric power is a hell of a party trick. Finally, a claimed overall combined average of 282mpg sounds like silly talk. So, what are your thoughts? Edited October 3, 2014 by epoxi Topic merged with Car Talk comments
eroch
Are sports/super/hypercar makers coming out with these "hybrids" for publicity, or some other reason? I love the look of this car, but I don't get why it had to be a hybrid; the petroleum engine was good enough on its own.
El Dildo
subtle is fine and everything.... but now it doesn't look like a Lamborghini. now it just looks like a Ferrari. Lamborghini was supposed to be overstated. basically I don't like it. a Lambo should be a Lambo. I don't care if it's hybrid, but don't design it to be something that it's not. Gnocchi Flip Flops
I can't stand the styling, to be honest I can't stand Lamborghini's new design language. The use of Veneno-esque tail lights on this thing and the Huracan is just gross and I hate it. And it seems to me that they're starting to suck at styling rear ends. But the interior is lovely. I love the unique colors the touchscreen. kipakolonyasi

I love the look of this car, but I don't get why it had to be a hybrid; the petroleum engine was good enough on its own. All cars are going to move on from gas one day. The engineers are taught to think with efficiency and improving world condition in college. That's probably some manufacturers are starting to make hybrid cars like the i8. It's the future. That's just my guess though. Some people say hybrid and electric cars are just as unhealthy as gas . Gnocchi Flip Flops

Yes, because Ferrari needs to think of their carbon footprint More importantly, these cars still have terrible gas mileage. Was making the LaFerrari have 16.6 mpg (http://autoweek.com/article/geneva-motor-show/ferrari-laferrari-hybrid-debuts-geneva-motor-show) more worth it than making a better petrol-only car? Same with the McLaren P1 with 19 mpg, as rated by the EPA. While most of these next-gen hybrids have an EV mode, this mode is usually a pitiful distance, and is more of a party trick than anything. If anything, full-electric is a better alternative to hybrids as far as the environment is concerned, because at least then you only have the one engine and can focus your resources on making it the best it can be, rather than making it work in tandem with a far superior gasoline motor. More importantly, why does a supercar have to be environmentally efficient? Ferrari's only making 499 LaFerraris. It's not as important to make such a small amount of cars environmentally friendly as any normal car you see on the street. Imagine how much better these cars would have been if they all didn't lug around a huge battery to make them a hybrid. Pretty sure that supercar makers are only doing this for the image. I digress, this car looks pretty neat, wonder if they'll actually make it. Edited October 4, 2014 by eroch
