I was watching the "Official Trailer, and it looks so much better than the older ones (Trailer 1, Trailer 2 and others...). It almost looks like a more polished version of the LG Game. (I actually see less aliasing as well) Like something in the middle of old Gen and Current Gen. Don't you Think? What is he gonna get in return for spilling all that info? the console ports will likely have at least a few graphical cut backs compared to the PC version. now it may something as simple as a lack of aniostropic filtering (which many PS4/XB1 games are missing).or lower resolution textures/native resolution, but those are differences nonetheless. take some of the most recent "NG" multiplatform titles -- metro redux and shadow of mordor for example. the consoles version of redux are completely missing key graphical features available on the PC version such as tessellation, volumetric lighting effects, high quality motion blur, phsyx and SSAA just to name the more noticeable ones. the console versions also have lower quality textures. the difference is less with shadow of mordor, but the PC version still offers at least a couple features not found in the console versions like tessellation and an additional HD texture pack that's significantly better than the textures found in the console versions, along with SSAA which also greatly improves overall image quality. . as for GTA V, the PC version was the base platform for the "NG" version of the game or in other words, the PS4/XB1 versions of GTA V are PC ports. and since R* has promised to have taken "full advantage of the power of the PC" with the game, i expect mostly the same results as the other recent "remasters" once comparative analysis are made. granted we've yet to see what graphical settings will available on the PC version, but i would bet on things like higher resolution textures, higher quality ambient occlusion, perhaps tessellation, and proper AA as the primary features. i don't mean to burst your bubble nor am i undermining the PS4, but the new consoles in general aren't nearly as powerful as many make them to be. by today's 'enthusiast' PC standards, they're not even mid-tier level systems and they are using hardware that's nearing 3 years old now. none of this is to say that graphically impressive games can't be produced on these systems, they can and already have in fact, it's just that PC's will always have the upper hand when it comes to visual fidelity and technical prowess. and before someone steps in to say "teh difference won't be taht big!!" - i'm not saying it will. it won't be a night and day difference obviously, but it will look better on a capable PC for the reasons i outlined above (unless R* decided on gimping the PC version which i think is unlikely) ------------------------------------------ as for what jim gained from all of it? attention of course. SoM has great optimisation for the PC, runs everything on ultra (with HD texture pack) at ~60FPS on my ASUS 280X.
