GTA V and the Gym in the game

Quote from Dan Houser:

“The main thing is at a technical level to get changing scale of the character – to get them bigger and smaller – is hard, and in San Andreas the standard definition graphics were more forgiving. Doing that with three different characters – we definitely thought about it but decided it was impossible. We just weren’t going to get the results we want with the way the rest of the animation system works. It was just not worth making compromises elsewhere.”

Maybe they might be able to do it for GTA Online because they can just use a body type for the men or women and make it change based on how often they go to the gym and all that.

They wouldn't need to implement as many chances to clothes and animations as they would have to make it so Trevor, Michael and Franklin could add on some muscle mass.

I would love to interact with the gym, and it would be funny to see Michael, Franklin and Trevor all have their own lines when working out.

Like Michael feels really old and out of shape and keeps making excuses while benching that he can't do as much because of a nagging football injury.

Franklin looks like he lifts so he seems more at home and jokes around with the bodybuilders in that Muscle Pit area, or flrts in between sets with the ladies.

Trevor lets his rage out and screams at the top of his lungs while lifting, and says sexually inappropriate things to the women (and men). Or he just threatens people for looking at him funny

Although I liked San Andreas gym feature and how your body changed, I don't think it would work for GTA V. Their bodies really wouldn't change that fast considering the elapsing time in the game's story isn't that long. And seeing a totally buff Michael with a thick neck in cutscenes when talking with the shrink or hanging around with Jimmy would take my mind off the cutscenes and make me think "Michael looks really weird as a buff, near-50 year old guy"

Trevor would also lose his fashionable meth look, and his default design really fits his character (dirty white undershirt, skinny but crazy strength)

I didn't think of that, but for GTA Online that would be a great idea. I'm not crazy about the body changing for SP, but it would be a great feature for online.

Also, it would be hilarious if some random online people come and try to interupt your workouts and a shootout ensues. The gym could be a relaxing place or a place of mayhem. Maybe Rockstar allows elite properties to have their own indoor gyms, and you can invite friends over to workout.

I honestly don't see a point going to the gym and working out. We can already knock NPCs out with one blow already and I don't want my character looking like a steroid junkie.

Just ask Brucie... :p

Also, what "Dan Houser" said... There's really no point

It's not really needed for single player, but I reckon it would be good for online, everyone's character is basically the same, except face and clothes, so it would be cool to have different body types, and even heights. Would be funny playing online and a short fat guy tries to fight you lol

Ah yeah, that would be epic.

Attitude + Body = Officially the most dangerous man on the planet.

This guy is probably even bigger than a known pro lol

I would like to see dynamic changes to physical appearances like san andreas, were if you eat too much fatty foods you become fat, if you go to the gym you become bulkier or skinny if you don't eat at all for a long period.

I do remember when one of the houser brothers said it won't work in gta V as the characters build defines them and there persona, such a fat Michael or a butch Trevor just won't work and I totally agree. The thing is though i think it would work perfectly on Online, as well as if you could set a permanent height on your character (at the character building stage). It will add so much more variety and customization to our own players. At the moment, we're all the same height and build and it's a little too much of the same.

The reason why i think it would work is because if someone does not want to change there character and think it's a pointless part of the game, then they won't need to be forced to do anything except eat once in a long while just to keep the character from going skinny.

I agree. In San Andreas I loved beefing up CJ because he was 'you' and it made him the boss of the game, the world was yours and you felt more powerful than all the skinny NPCs.

However in GTA:Online, no one is really the boss of the game and if everyone running around looks like they're juicing then the game just feels goofy.

Did someone say yoga?

I don't think fitness and fattening up is going to be back like in SA. The trailer may point to something to do with fitness, or bodybuilding. New side activity or random event. But were not going to fatten up franklin and starve out michael or anything.

who want the Gym for do muscles how to Gta San Andreas?

I honestly never cared for the gym in San Andreas other than for fighting. I can understand building muscle but watching your character sit there and lift weights while you push a couple of buttons gets old very fast.

For godsake OP your grammar is horrible

ont: i think a gym would be to much work to make maybe if it's only for building up the stats but not altering your body.

I could totally see T, Michael and Franklin in ultra jacked mode. Specially Trevor and Michael.

Not that jacked tho, that body proportions are just absurd and unrealistic hahha

Don't doubt the modders. They can do lots. In San Andreas people made drag racing mods, fuel usage mods, 1st person mods, towns, enterable trams, I even had a caravan that I could tow around and use as a safehouse. There are people out there who bring dead online games back to life.

Screw the gym. It was a chore in SA and GTA V already feels too much like Wii Sports enough as it is.

Honestly i expect it to be in the game, they have no excuse now. What they said was in terms of technology they had it would look weird so they didn't do it. But now they have plenty of resources and the technology (like Tessellation) to do it.

But seriously I meant the proportions of the guy in the screeshots where just not human. This guy u posting is having roids for breakfast, lunch and dinner and he looks like a f*cking penis all covered in veins, but he's still human and somewhat "in proportion" hahahah

Whilst the guy in the picture is pretty huge, how do you know of he's on steroids or not, there are people in mr.Olympia contests who are bigger than that guy, who are DEFINITELY not on steroids, as they get checked by independant research companies almost monthly. Sorry I had to get if off my chest, hate it when non-lifters scream ermagahd sterowds.

They all have different bodytypes; therefore all characters will look different when bodybuilding naturally (unless under the influence of steroids)

Training to their maximum

Muscle Mass: Frank > Mike > Trev

Most Ripped: Trev > Mike > Frank

Albeit, there age would be taken into account (now I see why Dan Houser finds it hard)

Trev= ectomorph Michael= Mesomorph Franklin= (more meso with small % of endomorph)

LMFAO, this guy is DEFINITELY on steroids. This guy is MUCH bigger than Arnold and Jay Cutler, both admitted taking steroids.

Franklin Endomorph? I disagree. I would say the Micheal is the Endomorph and Trevor the Mesomorph. Just look at their bodies, Franklin has definitely some definition on his chest and abs.

While Micheal has a higher fat percentage.

Eh, I'd expect Mike to be much fatter if he were an endomorph (based on his age and 10 years of relaxation, tennis doesn't count). I can now see Franklin as a Mesomorph, that makes more sense but Trev as mesomorph? no way man, just look at Trevor's skinny physique and skinny arms he's most certainly an ectomorph.
