Minor destructible environment

This really annoys me. How much of a big deal was made about fully interactive environments....
You play one mission where some bricks fall down....

To be honest I can't see the reason for concrete fences painted like a bush. If you didn't want it to be drive through-able, don't paint it like a bush.
And can destroy all manner of trees and stobie poles, so why are some signs and some trees invincible? Laziness.

obsidian_eclipse

More memory for flip flops, beards and hairstyles.

512mb just isn't enough for environments like this to work, maybe small scaled, but I think this is the limits of Xbox and ps3. We'd all be moaning that there's only 3 cars in the game but at least the bushes move naturally and concrete walls give way.

Adding some destructible environment to say the invulnerable volleyball nets, telephone poles, road signs, bushes and guardrails would be a nice added touch. I'm not advocating adding damage on the scale of Battlefield but I'd like to be able to take down telephone poles with a 120,000 lb. Rhino while turning the gun turret instead of getting stuck on every pole and palm tree I come across. Furthermore, it would be nice if concrete deteriorated with gunshots and the bark of trees would fall off after a firefight. While this may not be possible due to the rage engine and bullet physics engine I just wanted to see what people think about this missing element from the GTA series.

Ohhhh but I WANT you to lol..

It's next gen, they should be able to have destructible environments on a LARGE scale. I'm talking earthquakes, tornadoes, buildings beings destroyed, foxholes being made, ditches... F ck it, I'll throw in Dikes, Canals, re-streaming streams, you name it.. Tractors should be able to dig dirt etc etc etc

At least in the next instalment of gta they should. Having good graphics and large map isn't going to cut it in this day and age, all games have that (AND MORE). Step up or get out lol

like i said, console limitations. I would expect them to make them consistent in the new version, but as zerwinkle said full on building destruction is not gonna happen. I dont think they would have to sacrifice the graphics to do this, hardware is significantly improved and the RAM which is the part that remembers where stuff is went from 256 MEG to 8GIG, or 8000 MEG so the keep alive area can be much larger than in current game version where sh*t disappears when you turn around or doesnt spawn at all. You know how when youre burning out and your car leaves black marks and after a certain time(very short in this game on current version) they start disappearing where it first started as you make new ones and only a certain length is visible at one time? thats lack of ram.

full map keep alive is not possible but id love to see a couple block radius at the very least, much more is possible on the pc where you can have up to 64gig on most motherboards, with some allowing 128 or even higher but im not a programmer so i dont know if they have a set limit for keep alive thats standard or if they are smart enough to figure out how much ram you have and use it till it gets full before replacing previously stored info. I hope its the latter, cause PC will be sweet then. Of course like he also said you dont really wanna join a lobby where theres so much wrecked cars that you cant even drive down the road, but it would be cool if they stuck around for a set limit, or only a certain amount of both new and wrecks could be there and when it reached a certain ratio the wrecks start disappearing and new ones appear.

As long as the car i spend 20min looking for doesnt disappear if i drive past and stop looking at it for 2 seconds ill be much happier. sandbox open world isnt very fun when nothing remains static and it constantly resets or doesnt appear in the first place like currently. Greatly limits the things you can do in such an environment.

I totally agree with you that tractors and the Dozer should be able to dig up dirt and proceed to put in on the back of a dump truck. Altering merely cosmetics of the foliage and digging up dirt roads would be pretty fun as well.

We could take down tree's in SA so it's very possible.

I really want to see a destructable LSC door, The ability to knock over the wooden street poles and destructable bushes.
