kaindayo
I hate how unstable the helicopters are. In real life they do not wobble around like that. It's frustrating trying to aim when your heli acts like its floating in the ocean... I'm a good pilot. It has nothing to do with my skill. I'm a huge fan of the Ace Combat series. They need to stablize the choppers more.. Their all over the place, even at max flying skill.
Maya Echo Visari
I'm a good pilot. It has nothing to do with my skill. Isn't it funny when somebody has a beef to pick with something or someone in a game, this, right here, and similiar is almost always stated in a post? It's like it is mandatory that we establish that, because we know there is going to be at least one prick that is going to call you out if you don't say it. 'And usually they just say it anyway! On topic, OP, it doesn't really bother me. It is a bit irritating when the game sometimes calls for percise landings, for kicks or for other matters, and it sure isn't helpful when a helicopter is as stable as a cork in a vortex, but I like the detail honestly. It gives the aircraft life, imo. It is a bit overwhelming though. I've played Ace Combat too.. in that.. you never really need to worry about air resistance, you know? I'd say that is what Ace Combat is missing. Edited September 27, 2014 by SevDoggX
RajunKjun
I was around helicopters for 4 years from North Carolina to Japan. I have flown in a huey, ch46 sea knight, ch56 sea stallion, and a v22 osprey, and I can tell you they do indeed wobble and drop suddenly. n0tj0sh33
Yeah I was under the impression that you had to deal with pockets of different air pressure and stuff that could cause a helicopter to loose stability
kaindayo
Pretty much... It's annoying when people try to berate you in a post. Mostly kids with some kind of anger issue. Ace combat dont have much for air resistance I agree. I was around helicopters for 4 years from North Carolina to Japan. I have flown in a huey, ch46 sea knight, ch56 sea stallion, and a v22 osprey, and I can tell you they do indeed wobble and drop suddenly. They do wobble. I'm not saying they dont. But in GTA 5 its about x4 more dramatic. Edited September 27, 2014 by kaindayo

I'd wager you believe planes fly in perfectly flat straight lines too right? I'll just come right out and say it... it takes a little skill this time around to fly, it's not as dumbed down as before. This was implemented to be slightly more realistic due the massive air to ground poundings we all know and loved (hated) in GTAIV. You just need to up your game at flight is all, takes a little thought, timing, and practice. Get good and you won't wobble.
Strikeslip
I thought this thread was going to be about doing arts & crafts in the air. I have a couple of remote control helicopters, the kind that can cause serious injury, because what fun would it be otherwise. They are MUCH more difficult to fly that the GTA heli's, and have been sitting, broken on a shelf for ages, because of that. I've worked out of smaller helicopters, and if there's no place for the pilot to land he'll "toe-in", touching the front of one of the skids onto a hill, and you have to get out slow and easy so as not to send the heli out of control. No jumping allowed. They can take the branches off of trees with no ill effects to the heli, though. Shabazz916
they should give you the option to manually aim while flyn

ZenJenga
What I dislike most about the aircraft, is that I can't go flying in a public lobby without a f*cking lazer shooting me down or at least trying to. I have to check my map for fast flying blips before even calling pegasus these days. I shouldn't have to go to invite only or crew lobbies to fly my planes that I spent millions of dollars on. I enjoy flying my cuban 800 and mammatus because they're nice cruising planes. Good for a nice chill flight around the map. I agree on the helicopters. Especially the Buzzard. It's all over the place. I understand adding realism to the game, but maybe not that much.
kapnkyle
Try using rudder pedals folks. Or anti torque pedals if you know heli's. Helicopters are incredibly unstable machines with unskilled pilots. try smaller inputs, just like the real ones. Over controlling the aircraft creates unstable flight.
