(Yes, I know there is a North Yankton Discussion Thread in the GTA V section, but this is not talking about NY in general like that thread is.)

Ah, the good old days before patch 1.10, where lots of people had millions, and North Yankton was a place you could get to with a fairly simple glitch...

Those days are over now, though. But I will guarantee that a lot of us still remember the fun it was. If you are one of those players who unfortunately never got to explore this place before patch 1.10, then you can learn about North Yankton in the discussion thread for it. Now, moving on to my point in making this thread...

 

This thread is not only for us online players to reminisce on the good times we had exploring the snowy state, but to also think about what new memories this place can create! If Rockstar ever made this place open, what would you want/expect to be there?

 

I was thinking recently, for content creators, that having North Yankton open would open up some really cool opportunities for player creation.

 

Yes, North Yankton is not fully rendered and kinda glitchy, but that is a minor detail as of late. With the introduction of PC, PS4, and XBone coming close, I believe that Rockstar could finally afford to open up North Yankton with an update for those consoles.

 

My questions for you are as follows...

 

• Did you enjoy North Yankton while it was available for exploration online?
• Do you like the idea of going to North Yankton freely in... free-roam online possibly on next/current gen consoles?
• What would you do now if you could go there online?
• How would you think online missions would work if you could go there?
• What would you build in North Yankton if you could open content creator there online?
• What activities do you think would be available online if it was ever opened online, and how would those work?
• Do you think having North Yankton online would ever be a possibility?

Let's talk about the hopeful idea of North Yankton online! Mods, if this is a bit out of line, then feel free to lock this thread.

Yeah, but it was completely different, and that's what made it so memorable!

 

But I agree they need to work on it. I'm only thinking that would be possible on next//current gen (PS4, XBone, PC) though. but I'm keepin' my fingers crossed!

I was just thinking that was more for SP, but yeah. I did also say for mods to close this if they agree with the opinion you have.

All things North Yankton / Ludendorff related go there to keep the forum tidy and the like.

Aaah, I remember North Yankton as if it was yesterday although many years have passed. Here is my memory.

 

I was making a stop to rest at Ludendorff, I had checked into the towns little hotel and now I had gone to a cozy café for a sandwich and something hot to drink, the weather was chilly and it had just began to snow. As I was warming my hands against the hot cup of chocolate that the waitress just had brought in, I looked at the people at the other tables. My eyes stopped at the sight of mesmerizing woman who later came to be my wife. The first time that I saw Eva, she was laughing. It was a laughter, unlike anything that I had seen before, filled with excitement and magnetism. I could feel the attraction drawing my eyes through the crowd, searching for that special lady. Then, I found her. I saw immediately that the laughter was genuine. It not only projected through the air, but visible in all of her mannerism. She was sitting at a table with two other ladies. Among them, she was a goddess sitting among mortals. Her beauty was beyond description. The long brown curls framed her angelic face. Her deep green eyes were the center piece of the picture, twinkling and sparkling with excitement. Showing a deep level of happiness and contentment from the deepest parts of her soul. To compliment the rest of the face, her lips was covered with a light red lipstick. They begged for a kiss. In fact, she was so perfect that I could not approach her. I just watched and waited.

 

"How could a mere mortal such as myself approach a woman of her caliber?"

 

I sat terrified in the corner of the small cafe and watched. She was so animated when she talked. I could almost include myself into the conversation just by watching her hand motions. She was so alive. I was attracted to her like a moth to the flame. Even though, I knew that she would look down that wonderful nose of hers and tell me to go eat worms. Her beauty was pulling me, tugging at me to talk to her.

 

I slowly stood up from my half eaten sandwich to allow myself to be pulled to her, but my fear grabbed me and sit me down again. Looking down at myself, I knew that I had nothing to be ashamed of. I was an average looking guy, with a typical golf shirt and jeans. Yet, that was the trouble. I was average. She was a goddess.

 

"How could I go into the presence of a goddess?"

 

Then, I saw the banner across the door.

"Ludendorff Harvest Moon Party"

It was the answer to my prayers. In that instant, the deep terror that was rising up within me started to ease. This party would be my chance. If I failed, then I could drown my sorrows in the free drinks. With that reasoning, I watched her with a new calmness. She was indeed a woman above women.

As I watched, I noticed that she had crossed her legs. Even though they were sexy legs before, now that she had crossed them they had taken center stage. They were long legs with the firmest muscle tone that I had ever seen in my life. I couldn't tell if she was wearing stockings or not. However, it did not matter. Those long smooth legs were unbelievable.

 

"My goodness, those legs could wrap around me and hold me safe forever," I thought to myself.

 

I could feel the natural urges started to take over my body and knew that I better get out of the room while I could do so in a dignified way. Looking around, I realized that there was no other door. I had to find a way to relax. I needed something to distract myself. I had to find a way to walk right by her.

 

I found the distraction in a nearby family of two adults with two young kids, a chubby boy with curly hair and a slender blonde girl with a doll. The doll was getting all the treatment of a paying customer. It has a high chair, a plate, even a plastic bottle. The waiters that waited on the table made sure that the doll received the correct napkins and silverware as well. Yet, when they returned to the kitchen, I could see them whispering among themselves. The family did not notice. I was glad that they were happy. I was sure they would tip generously.

 

Even though I was watching the family, my mind kept going back to Eva. In my mind, I could still see her long legs crossed and gently rocking under that table. The family, as entertaining as they were, was not an adequate distraction. Eva had already captured my heart and soul. Her image was already burned into my brain. No matter how hard that I tried, I could not get her image out of my mind.. So, I just stood up and started to walk out. In my rush, I forgot about the doll's chair being stuck out into the hallways. My left leg hooked the leg. The chair and I went flying. I heard the child scream.

 

When I looked up, I found myself looking directly into the face of the Lady Goddess herself. She must have moved like lightening. Within seconds I felt her dabbing a wet napkin onto my forehead. Looking up, I saw a worried look on her gorgeous face. I was hooked. Everyone else was still sitting around the room. Some had concerned looks on their faces. There were some that was even laughing at me. Eva was the only person to jump up to help. She cared about people. It was obvious in her face and even more importantly in her actions. I felt warm all inside.

"Are you all right?" she asked.

"Yea," I responded. "My only injury seems to be my pride."

"Are you sure? " She asked. "You took quite a fall there."

"I have to be all right. I have to go to our Ludendorff Harvest Moon Party tonight, you know?"

Eva smiled the biggest smile that I had ever seen. It was warm and soft.

"Well, if this party is so important that you would go with a broken back. Maybe I need to check it out."

I pulled myself up to a sitting position. The waiters were pouring into the dining room. Each one trying to make sure they didn't do anything to get sued. I set up the little girls' doll chair and made sure the doll was safe and sound. With a grin, I handed it back to the little girl. She grabbed it and held it close as if she was going to protect it from any other dangers.

As the waiters tried to help me to my feet, I shrugged them off.. Standing to my feet, I took inventory of my body. I was okay. I made direct eye contact with Eva.

"Thank you ...uh.."

"Eva, my name is Eva," she volunteered.

"Thank you Eva. And yes, they are great. I would love to see you there."

She grinned.

"I am glad you are okay."

 

It seemed like she disappeared as the waiters and managers appeared in force and escorted me to the doctor's office. After a quick examination, they gave me a examination report and refunded my dining bill. As soon as I got out, I looked for Eva. She was no longer in the café. My heart dropped to my stomach. There was no signs of her. I knew that the party tonight was my only hope of ever seeing her again.

 

The next few hours passed very slowly for me. I did some shopping in the quiet shops along the midway. It was the most boring time period of my life. I thought that if anyone would pay attention to me it would be the store owners. However, they totally ignored me. In fact they even seemed bored with me. I guess they figured that with my glassy eyes and drunken walk that I was not going to buy anything. So they felt their time was much better spent on their sweeping or stocking. It didn't really matter anyway. They were just window dressing for my stroll. Still, one by one, I walked through each store. Yet, no matter what merchandise was being carried, I kept seeing Eva. For example, as I looked at a large brass platter, I could see the same worried face that Eva had when I had fallen. In another store, I faded out to a picture of her longs legs rocking under the table. Slowly and sensually against each other in the guise of an innocent rocking motion. They were gently rubbing against each other like lovers exploring each other for the first time. So slowly that anyone watching would see it as the normal swinging of a nervous foot. I knew better. Those legs were alive with sexual energy, touching and caressing the other. Each movement was building the excitement.

When I faded back to the shop, I found this elderly Redneck lady looking at me with the strangest look. She leaned over the counter and said something to me that I did not understand and point to the door. I guess that she was thinking that I was getting turned on by her. Never the less, I left in a hurry. Well as fast I could, given my current condition.

 

It was about seven o'clock before I worked my way back to the main street. I thought I would have another hour to kill, but when I arrived the main street was already full of people. I ran to my room and changed my clothes for the evening. In seconds, I was dressed in a white shorts and shirt set. As I dashed out of the hotel, I stopped and took a deep breath. I had to bring myself under control. I needed to be relaxed and confident. Women always like confident men.

"Calm and cool," I told myself. "Relax... yea you are cool."

I laughed at myself. Now I was talking to myself. Worse than that, I was talking to myself in a 1950's type of dialog. This was so ridiculous. I had dated dozen of women. Here I was feeling like a teenager on his first date. I took a deep breath and held it for a few seconds. Then slowly, I let the air ease from my lungs. As it left my body, I felt the stress reduced. After a couple of more of the exercises, I started to feel more confident. I could feel it in my walk and posture. It was in the swing of my arms and the movement of my eyes. I was a lady killer on the move now. The effect was amazing. As I entered the party scene, several ladies made direct eye contact only to break off the contact with a slight smile and a downward glance. There were even a few prim and proper ladies that felt that direct eye contact was too forward but had no problems sneaking peeks at my butt. I smiled. It felt good to be noticed and appreciated.

 

I joined into the party, mixing and mingling as a proper gentlemen. I talked with a couple people, but quickly excused myself. I was not in the mood to do small talk about farm tractors or makeup sales. So I decided to walk up the beach a little. The hotel staff were rushing to get fires hot for the clam bake. As I watched the hotel employees continue to set everything up, I found myself looking out to the sea. I must have been really drawn into the scene because I never saw Eva step up behind me.

"Hello Stranger, " she greeted me.

Unlike the other ladies at the party, she was not wearing a skin tight jeans to show that magnificent bottom that I knew was there. Nor was she wearing the checkered flanell shirt to reveal her breasts to the world. However, she didn't have that need. Standing in a simple white cotton dress that hung loosely over her body, she radiated a confidence and a beauty that no other lady on the beach could match.

"Hello," I responded. "So you decided to come after all, huh?"

I had expected this to be an awkward moment full of fear and apprehension. However, it wasn't. I felt something click between us. It was like we were old friends that had not seen each other in years. There was a level of comfort and calmness. I was at peace.

"Of course, I knew who was going to be here," she answered with a slight grin.

I smiled back a grateful smile. I knew at that point that she felt the same connection. It no longer mattered where she lived. Whether it be two thousand miles or across three oceans and two mountain ranges, it was immaterial. She was the one. She was my soul mate.

"Would you like to go on a walk, while they are setting everything up? I love to walk along the main road during a sunset."

I hadn't even noticed but the sun was starting to sink into the fields of grain. The huge ball of fire was barely touching the top of some distant wave. It was fighting time to stay in this world for just a few more minutes. Yet, in this moment of conflict between day and night, the sun was the most magnificent sight.

"Oh that would be great, " I answered.

We walked and talked along the main street. Conversation was easy with her. Our experience seem to compliment each other like the snow complimented the town. The more that we walked the fewer people that I saw on the street. At first, I was confused. The street was just as good at this northern end as it was at the southern end. Then, it became clear. As the party was going into full swing, the free beers and clams was drawing the beach population. In a few minutes of walking, we suddenly had the beach to ourselves. In the distance, we could see the fires and crowds of people.

 

I found myself staring at the horizon. The half of the sun that was still showing was creating a myriad of colors on the horizon. It was a beautiful sight that stirred emotions deep inside of me. As I blended with the scene, I felt Eva's hand slip into mine. Turning so that I could see her, I saw that she too was watching nature reveal her most beautiful treasure, the sunset at sea. I found myself staring at the most sensual creature alive, Eva. In the fading light, her face came alive. Her eyes had a sparkle of excitement, while her lips were moist and smooth. The contour of her jaw accented the height of her cheek bone. Everything from her long eyes lashes to the texture of her skin seem to call to me. I lifted my free hand slowly toward her chin. She smiled, and I knew that it was okay. Reaching her chin, I gently tilted her head back and leaned forward to meet those God sent lips. As we meet, it was like magic. I could feel the vibration of her lips as I allowed only the most gentle of kisses. The kiss was obviously different from the hard and aggressive kiss that she was expecting. Yet, I could tell that she was not disappointed. She dropped my hand, and put them both of arms around my neck. Following her lead, I let my hands fall around her waist. First gently, and then stronger, I pulled her body into mine. She responded by running her hands through my hair.

I could feel her kisses change. Now her lips were slightly apart and were massaging my lips with each kiss. As I started to massage the small of her back, we moved into a French kiss that would have excited any man.

The kiss was long as we merged and explored each other's mouth. I could feel my head starting to get fuzzy. As I concentrated on the sensations of the kiss and the warmth of her back, I felt a pressure pulling me down to the sand. Letting myself go, we slide to the sand. In a sensual embrace, we kissed the kiss of passion.

The warm sand under us and the gently background noise of the drunken rednecks meshed with the sight of the sun making its last appearance of the day. The battle between night and day had been fought. I knew that Eva and I were the major benefactors of their timeless struggle. For that struggle had created the perfect setting for us to discover each other for the first time.

As the night grew, the full moon provide the soft light. The howling of drunk rednecks provided the background music. We provided the pleasure. We kissed and made passionate love for hours. It was the love of two people that merge their souls and bodies together. The blood that flowed through our veins boiled as we drove each other to the outer limits of human pleasure. Our hearts pounded. Our eyes danced. Our cries of pleasures filled the night,. Then, when we exploded together, the night was complete.

 

When I awoke the next day, I could see the gradual lighting in the eastern sky. The sun was returning to see the couple that it had left just a few hours earlier. As I look at Eva’s face, cuddled in my arms, I knew that the world would be a better place from this day onward. I smiled and was content.

It'd definitely need a lot of work if they ever intended to make it a "legitimate" location (fixing the texture degradation on the borders that were obviously never meant to be seen, not having it floating in the sky down by Simeon's dock)

I'm disappointed that I never went to North Yankton when we had the chance. Is there an other way to go there in single player without redoing the NY missions? I have plenty of photography ideas, starting with this one. Just need a pale cream Regina and a one way ticket to NY...

I had fun going to North Yankton with some friends back then. Even though all it had was just some boring little town, it was really enjoyable to explore, mainly because it was something new to all of us and it was a nice change of pace from the usual Los Santos map, plus I think the fact that it was covered in snow was really cool. I'd love to see them bring it back with a fully finished map, with Ludendorff plus maybe another small town and an airstrip, and the dense forest that everyone wanted for the V map (imagine the snowy part of Tall Trees from RDR, but in GTA V on the new consoles).

 

It was obviously not a complete map, but one of my friends suggested back then that it had too much detail for Rockstar to just use in two missions (mainly the fact that every car gets snow/ice stains, and the character would blow into his hands rub them together as if he was cold if you just sat in the car without moving), and we thought that Rockstar patching the ability to go there was because they probably intended on selling us the map. But who knows if that'll ever happen.

A 'Fargo' inspired GTA taking place there would be pretty awesome, even if it's just an add-on for V. I'm sure that film had to serve as some inspiration for North Yankton (even though it took place in Minnesota, not North Dakota. I think it's the same with the TV series, too).

I would give just about anything to be able to back into North Yankton. R* should of never patched that glitch. The North Yankton glitch was the most interesting GTA Online has ever been.

 

Between the building interiors glitch and the N.Y. glitch, i dont know what i miss more.

It was the most relaxing and surreal place ever in the game before it was patched.

It's one of those areas you wish you could go to over and over again.

Hell yeah I did. I love the snow, the warm sun in the cold winter. It was awesome.

Airport and then small missions there.
