Lots of people in jets killing all, any way to take em out without ano

Hey, seems a lot of people in lobbys with jets killing randoms. Is there a way to take them out without another jet? Minigun seems to have no effect, rpg if you are lucky. I think they will reduce the strength of jet in future update like they have with the Rhino.

Hope not. Machine guns on the Lazer are super badass, but unlike the tank, it does require a skill to line up your run. Dont feel bad about being killed by a Lazer whore, it is commendable act. If you don't like it, get your own jet fly high and target them from above. The jet descending upon their target mostly wins.

You underestimate the greatness that is the heavy sniper rifle. That thing will get a jet smoking with one clip, and if the pilot is dumb, he won't take that smoke into consideration and he'll just keep flying around. Put a few more holes into the jet, and it'll fall right out of the sky, or on it's own in time.

 

Now, if the pilot is smart, the only thing the heavy sniper rifle is good for is to keep that pilot's distance from you, (or if you get lucky and nail a headshot). Pick a spot, (a rooftop, or an alleyway), for smart prepping call Lester and hide your dot from the map and lead your shots. He'll start smoking, and if he's an asshole (which most people become when they grab a jet), he'll make a run back to Zancudo to try and get his hands on another jet. That, there's nothing really you can do.

 

You can always lob a bunch of stickys on a fastmover, (be it a besra, or maybe something that can almost rival the Lazer), and fly it into him, and detonate the stickys. Very effective I find.

 

Again, if it's a dumb pilot, a tank will do the job just right, just so as long as he doesn't pull a hammerhead when countering you.

 

Miniguns, obviously, an effective way to counter aircraft, given that such weapons I'd imagine are created for such 'tasks'. - However, there are a few disadvantages when you use the minigun you'll run into. The minigun makes you move slower therefore, makes you a slow-moving target (not good), when you fire the minigun it makes it easier for an aircraft to locate you on the ground due to muzzle flash and tracers, (both day, and during night). However, if the pilot does fail to locate you/fail on his attack run, that minigun is surely his worst enemy. Especially when you see his belly. Chances are, (if you aim properly), you'll have him smoking with ease, and unless he's a sore loser, he won't turn back again.

 

As of right now, I'm just praying Rockstar will add some sort of end-all half measure counters for the Lazer jet, because something needs to be done, it's rediculous to give a player something so powerful, that is so easy to use and so easy to steal yet there be no resoluting counter to it. It's just far too OP. At least make the jets more difficult to steal, and have setting foot in Zancudo military base disable the blind-eye asset. IMO the Lazer jet ruins public play.

From what I hear, a HEAVY sniper seems to the trick..

I'm not sure if the other sniper does anything to it.

Another tip, if your gonna get in a Buzzard and try and take it out, Don't. Just don't..Unless your a really skilled at flying that thing.

What I do is get in a jet and take it out the old fashioned way.

You will see the explosive ammo impact once the elevation is low enough, it's about that time you need to pull up. When you get used to this technique, you will learn how to loop and make another pass within seconds. All kinds of carnage will result and mostly will achieve a positive impact on target.

What Rockstar could do is add a Merryweather service that sends NPC jets after any players in jets. If someone is griefing an entire lobby, they could get ganged up on or have to win fifteen dogfights with NPC jets in a row.

'Pretty sure this isn't on topic. I get that we're talking about jets, but the majority of everyone's posts are about how to defend yourself from a jet, not to read on how to grief a lobby in a jet by hunting down random hopeless players. Why not add something to contribute to the thread (in a more) relevant manner instead of telling us how to make a lobby resent pilots even more? ex. tell us how to take on a jet griefer with another jet? I'm going to assume you have quite an eye for air-combat, why not shower a little bit of that wisdom? The OP might not have asked how to counter jets with other jets, but it's a skill worth learning and worth reading on in itself.

 

The less pilots that can use a Lazer effectively when it comes to attacking indiscriminately at vulnerable players on the ground, the better the Online experience can remain, imo.

Oh. Roger. Defense...hmmm. Duck and cover. Fire out heavy sniper shots from any place close to tall structure. Jets have a hard time weaving in and out of structure without becoming disoriented.

 

OP did respond his own struggle using the jet. Claiming he had a hard time finding players and crashing into the ground and what not. So it was a response of sharing a technique I use incase the OP or anyone else wanted to learn a new way to play this game. You can't grief in a jet. It isn't the tank from 6 months ago...that was griefing. Stop being the forum supervisor and commenting about people's post. Nobody gives a f*ck about you.

This. I don't know about the rest of you, but if I send a jet griefer back to Zancudo using a sniper rifle, that's a win in my book. They've got the most powerful weapon in the game and I still sent them running for the hills like a little bitch.

 

Also, if the pilot is ballsy/stupid enough to go for a low strafing run, the heavy machine gun will hit the pilot in the cockpit through the fuselage. Surprised the sh*t out of one the other day. Didn't take him out, but the coward couldn't get away from me fast enough...

Lock on with the combat mg does more damage then most think. Combine it with heavy sniper when he is turning.

Yeah the Heavy Sniper gets em smoking about 1/2 shots in and will flame out the engine after 4 or 5 shots.

 

Also if you can shoot the afterburners directly you'll flame it out in one shot

i guess everyone thinks everything is over powered. Now my intent is not to offend anyone, but at some point you have to think this is still a combat game in PVP. you can't just nerf everything and still expect it to be fair or fun. the reason why the jet and tank are there in the first place was for it to be obtainable for the elite. it's purpose is not to be fair, but to be an overwhelming force meant to demoralize and annihilate the enemy. I for one don't wan to play a game where the moment you have mastered something eg: jet everyone complains. i mean i browse these forums everyday and i see more and more complaints about the use of weapons or special vehicles. why can't people just develop strategies against them without resorting to whining? At least you would retain your respect. I admit i am one of those guys that will more than likely bomb you in a jet. probably for no good reason. If i see everyone clustered together like idiots then um yeah what did you expect? sometimes if i see some random guy out in the middle of nowhere i'll leave him be, no challenge, or if someone looks like they are working their butt off to do something (car in titan) i'll leave them alone too. point is i like a challenge. shoot at me, grab a jet do something other than whine everything is overpowered. These things are only overpowered in the hands of a skilled user and in the face of a sore loser.... Dueces...

Thanks for your informative post, I enjoyed it!! I didnt realise either the heavy sniper or mini gun made the jet smoke, I had hit jets with both before but didnt know they had done any damage. I was really dissapointed and felt ripped off when Rockstar made the tanks so pathetic and weak after a recent update, it was on their list of what was done, they said they had a lot of people complaining about tanks so they made them weaker. Well, the thing is, people paid all that money for a tank and now they are unsuable really, a couple grenades and kaboom. And no, I was never a tank asshole, I would get one of someone else had one or something like that. A lot of players are taking to the skies with jets and I know they will most certainly make them easier to take down in a future update. There are strong rumours of the hydrajet coming very soon and won't that throw a cat amongst the pigeons, lol. I will take to the skies and practice my jet skills some more! Do you think the cockpit view is better to use then the behind the jet view?

They have already nerfed the tank though, they are as weak as pi** run over a couple cop cars and they are smoking. They should issue refunds, you dont just reduce a product to pathetic weak standards after they have charged you for a tank!! The tank gets taken out extremely easy by the jet, so the tank is pretty useless now, they have made the big weapons uneven. I hope the hydra does come out soon.

My original post wasn't complaining I was just looking for advice, I think the jets are cool, but they should have left the tanks as they were and made them be able to shoot jets a bit easier. The jets are not hard to pilot, Im just not very good, my son has mastered them pretty well and takes people down easy.

 

I had a good idea for GTA, there is a war zone, like the dessert, heavy weapons are there, like anti aircraft ground guns, jets, tanks etc. then the on feet soldiers are in the city etc and the guys that want to use the big toys can go to their sand box!

For the record, the minigun will rip the sh*t out of the jet and possibly kill the pilot, but only if he/she misses you with the cannons or if you get him while the jet is pulling up after a strafing run. I've actually made one explode with the minigun (after a few heavy sniper rounds of course).

I like to put stickies on the besra and ram them. It's tricky, but it's worth learning how to do it.

Also, today I actually managed to both snipe the pilot while he was coming in for a strafe and managed to kill a jet pilot with the tommy gun when he was diving down at me. He got me, but I killed him too. He was pretty pissed off.

Is it easier to use in the cockpit? Well, with the view they give you, I would think. It helps me, its a little bit awkward now that they removed the tracers, but I guess once you get used to flying it more, you won't need them.

 

Now, I don't know if you should use them when you're trying to take down another jet, (maybe if switching from 1st person camera to 3rd person didn't require multiple presses of the camera button), - but for that, I'd probably stay in 3rd so you don't lose your target. 'Don't hesitate to call Lester to remove your dot either, I'd say. I get scared sh*tless when I can't find a jet griefer on my map, haha.

 

And I wouldn't have such a problem with jets if they just weren't so easy to acquire. I mean there are lobbies that only a few players can just take total control over because three players decide to take arms together and each grab a jet. It just isn't tangible of Rockstar. A guy above is insisting that people should develop strategies against jets (which I agree with), but the problem is, you can't. There are no techniques, there are no strategies. We're given a chaingun and a sniper rifle, and that's it. You would think that's enough, but it isn't. They just aren't effective enough. We're left with f*cking rocks and coconuts to counter these things.

 

We have to desperately improvise, and thats if we're lucky that a jet isn't already spawnkilling us. If you're anywhere outside Los Santos, you're as good as dead. I just think it's bullsh*t.

 

If you can steal a jet without using Merryweather or blind eye, and steal that jet from a grouping of AI that is actually competent and then kill me, then hats off to you. As of right now, I won't budge.

the tank is THE best weapon for taking out a jet people. Just lead your shot and if you miss twice just have your tank sitting sideways and move when he comes in for the strafe, if you survive then hit him while his back is turned....done. was this so hard? lol

I wouldn't bother with the buzzard, even if you are good.

The helis in this game have a tilt limit, so all a jet pilot would have to do is fly above or below you (then shoot you).

 

I know this because I fly the jet a lot. While I may not be the top 1%, I have gotten pretty good at it.

 

I'm one of the few jet pilots that IS NOT generally aggressive. But there will always be the "Hero" who has to stop me in their buzzard.

Every time, I just fly above then, dive down, and shred them with the cannons.

They have yet to even scratch me, let alone take me down.

Someone said you can't grief in a jet? That's funny I was killed ten times in a row by some asshole in a jet. I shot him numerous times with the minigun. And I was downtown under the road. He was still killing me. They should just make it so it shoots minigun rounds and not explosive shells. Problem solved.
