Should the train have goods that can be stolen?

Now those are some buns! As and Anaconda I greatly endorse the idea of buns in GTAO.

Good idea since it can be quite a chalenge to work there in sertain ways

I woud love to first blow a huge wooden box up on the train and then pick up something nice :)

I have no idea why R* changed the train from SA. You used to be able to hijack it and even derail it, on the friggen PS2. Why was that not in GTA V on PS3?

Absolutely, the train should have goods to steal whether they're civilian or military ranging from automobiles to military technology and weapons or the occasional priceless artifact from Merryweather's fine courier service. If they're military or military contractor goods like Merryweather we should see a lot of security.

IRL the US DOD actually contracts railroads to move equipment between bases. They don't have military personnel on-board because the bigger Railroads have their own Company Police Departments, which are legally recognized with arrest powers in the states that their railroads run through. The vehicles with mounted weapons do not carry ammo with them during transport. I wish that Rockstar would've really made it so players could operate both the Freight Train and the Light Rail Train. (You don't drive it, you operate it.) The main issue is the current spawn system of trains in-game. If more than one player is on two different sides of the map along the tracks, the train won't spawn (Also applies to the Light Rail Train.) It wouldn't be possible to steal the automobiles directly from the train because special stationary ramps are used at transfer facilities to load and unload the autoracks due to the fact that they have multiple levels (Autoracks are Railcars that carry vehicles). Most of the items in the intermodal cars are fragile, so you would need to stop the train to offload any merchandise.

Nice idea. It must be heavily guarded.

 

And R* should add an easter egg in which a guy would yell 'ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS TO FOLLOW THE DAMN TRAIN!' in an annoying voice whenever you failed to get the goods.

One point you're missing: this is a video game. But for added realism they could add railroad security or certified peace officers instead of military personnel which should be just as armed as the military with military freight onboard. Look up the mission Green Goo from GTA: San Andreas and Derailed and you'll see where I got this idea about the military and Merryweather onboard. As for the freight train, I totally agree we should be able to operate it much like from GTA: San Andreas with the added control stand view of course. As for stealing merchandise, we should be able to use the Skylift for the goods otherwise we should calculate where to stop the train along its tracks to kidnap the crew as law enforcement responds. This I believe would be solely applicable to the remastered version of GTA Online and story mode, thus fixing the spawning system.
