Should the train have goods that can be stolen?

The title pretty much explains it, Should you be able to hijack the train and steal any goods it is carrying?

 

I think this would be a pretty good addition to the game. Now I know some people will think "It will be farmable and people will just exploit it" well it wouldn't be. It would work just like the way crates do, It would be totally random and would not have a designated spawn/drop time.

 

There would also be 'Special Shipments' the same way there are special crates however instead of extra cash this shipment would contain an expensive/high performance car and a few more than powerful weapons.

 

It would also put the stuff you learn in flight school to the test, Particularly the one where you have to land the chopper on the flatbed truck and the one when you use the use the guns on the buzzard to hit the targets.

 

What do you guys think? I think it would bring a bit more character to the game and the surrounding's, One day you could be cruising the streets in your car and out of nowhere you see a team of players hijacking a train and using a cargobob to airlift a Cognoscenti Cabrio off of one of the train's cars.

 

Edit: Just so it wouldn't make getting high end cars a lot easier sometimes instead of a high end luxury car there would be a shipping container that contained lot's of ammo (enough to to max out the ammo on every gun for 2 players). Just like the car it would have to be airlifted off of the train car and once the hijacking is complete it would have to be dropped somewhere to open it you would have to blow the doors open with a sticky bomb or grenade.

Heisenberg! A methlamine heist...now that would be something. As for special crates on the train, it would certainly make for more fun that racing to get one that fell out of a plane.

One issue is the train doesn't exist unless someone is nearby to see it. If you race ahead of the train then wait for it to catch up it will spawn with different cars. I discovered this when attempting use a cargobob to drop one of simon's vehicles onto the flat bed. The train would get a certain distance then despawn dropping the car.

I've actually done this before but completely forgot about it.

 

Maybe they could make the spawning work the same way the HPV for simeon works, Thay never despawn and if you ever look at one it's just a random NPC car.

Maybe it could be a drop point for special crates since 9 out of 10 people don't bother with regular crates. Imagine the mayhem if multiple players were chasing the train at once. I've only ever been the target in such a situation, after jumping on the train with a bounty. I've never been a chaser with competition (but have been a single chaser :p )

Never thought of that, This would be great it would make that damn special crate a struggle to get it's too easy right now.

 

It would be like Red Dead Redemption, it would be like replaying the mission when you have to board the mexican cargo train, Kill all the guards and crack the safe except this time it's a crate with money and an RPG

It would be cool if trains rarely spawned with crates that a cargobob could pick up then the player would have to take it to a drop off point. But they would have to change the way trains spawn.

Careful who you show this to. There are ignorant people out there who think R* left certain things out of GTA V because of limitations on PS3/360.

 

Anyway, PS3/360 must not have been able to handle a train derailing..... OR (for all you ignorant people out there) R* was just too lazy to add that extra "PAZAZZ" to the game to make it something spcial

I suspect that certain sacrifices were made to include other features that severely prohibit the fun derived from the chaos that ensues from derailing a speeding behemoth of steel.

Remindings me of that scene from breaking bad when they stole the methlamene. So hellz yes good idea,....then spawn kill the kid on the dirtbike a couple times for good measure.

be able to have a person repel down on a rope attach hook to crate or sometheing on train and lift off with it

It could also be implemented as a h***t of sorts, with a few options on how you go about it.

 

Do you infiltrate the rail operator to find out when the big money cargo is dispatched, or do you take the risk and hope you don't get a dud load?

 

Do you remove the cargo as the train is moving, or do you stop the train somehow?

 

Do you lift stuff off with the Cargobob, or do you have someone drive alongside in a pickup and drop stuff into the loadbed?

 

If you're stopping the train, do you hijack it and take it to a disused siding to unload, or do you just disable it and rob it wherever it happens to stop?

 

There's a lot of variey and replay value that could come out of this.

I was just saying something like this to a buddy I play with last week. I was thinking something like the movie "Money Train", there's a couple spots in the subway tunnels that seem set up for a jack move. Would be more of a heist scenario though, find a vehicle to block the tracks and derail it sorta thing.

that might we one of the heist plot "IF" we have heist

this is pretty much like lester mission America express, you hijack a prison car to rescue a guy, this time you hijack a train. train will be heavily guarded, so some of us jump on the train and some guy provide air support.

this can be done on the sea to, so we finally have something to do with it, we hijack a cargo ship for it, you know, something big and slow...

Absolutely, the train should have goods to steal whether they're civilian or military ranging from automobiles to military technology and weapons or the occasional priceless artifact from Merryweather's fine courier service. If they're military or military contractor goods like Merryweather we should see a lot of security.
